A New Day
Dawn, The Drs had to cool down our friends body b/c her heart rate was so weak. This afternoon they began to warm her body and reduce her sedation and she has shown some favorable responses. She has so many ppl praying for her, I can't imagine anything but a complete healing. To those who haven't seen my post on FB. A friend who is only in her mid thirties, with 4 small children ages 8 to 1, has had a massive heart attack. She seem to be in excellent health, a runner and thin. Doesn't make sense, just like another friends grandson dying at 18mths. They still don't know why he died.

A New Day
Carole, I'm so sorry to hear about Sushi. Thats whats so hard about having pets. We love them so much, but they age so much faster than us. After every heartbreak, I say I'm not doing that again and the next thing you know, I am. I'm sure she has had an excellent life with you & Jack. I hope and pray the medication will give you more time together.

BMI 41.4 no co-morbities so far..
First of all, welcome to the forum. There is a great source of information here. Also congratulations on working at getting healthy. The best thing you can do for yourself ,is to educate yourself. To many ppl go into this thinking its a quick fix and then find out its not. The band is a tool and unless you work with this tool, it will not work. You follow your Drs instructions and it will work, but there is work involved. Good things is, it does work. As far as whats expected of you next, is hard to say. Everyone's insurance requires different things. My insurance, Aetna, made me go through a 6mth supervised diet, psych eval and nutrition classes. My bariatric team led me every step of the way. They gave me a print out of things I had to get done and how long I had to do it. They took care of all the paper work. Best of luck on your journey. Stick around and ask questions. We're here to support each other.

Gainging weight
Seems like wanting to have a baby, would be a great motivater. You want to be healthy and have the energy to chase after a little one don't you? Get in to see your Dr, maybe you need a fill. Go back to bandster eating. 1000-1200 calories a day, 60-80 gr protein , 64 oz of sf liquids, eating slow, taking smaller bites. You can do this, you have a future baby to get ready for. Good luck!

A New Day
I'm glad everyone is happy being here. I needed you all just as much. It is nice reading about what everyone is going through and how you handle it. Makes you feel like you're not the only one and someone does understand. I've come to the conclussion that we all have struggles with our LBS, but having each other, we can get through it. I too, am happy we have each other. To think I was afraid when I started this group, no one would want to join. Just goes to show, face your fears. Love you all!

Carole, sounds like you're making great progress, not only in the house, but finding your way around the community too. I sure hope Sushi is feeling better tomorrow, but lining up a vet is a good idea too. Tomorrow going shopping with Ange to find window coverings. Evan has left that up to her, while he's in charge of hanging what pictures where. I think Angela's next Dr appt is in 2wks, She see's 2 different drs, her regular ob and a high risk ob. We just went to reg. ob, so next appt is with the high risk dr. Glad they're keeping a good eye on her. Diane,I too am glad the Drs can now be "the bad guys" and helping you decide what the best coarse of action is. I also understand what you're saying about the woman your mom has become, is not your mom and you do have to do what is best for her, not what makes everyone else feel good. It is about moms safety. I've had these talks with my kids. If I ever get like that, put me in a home and don't look back. Its always the ppl left behind that gets hurt. Happy Anniversary to you and your hub! What movie are you seeing? The last movie my hub went to see with me was Wild Hogs (b/c they rode Harleys), before that it was Ghost Busters.lol I think he can't sit through a movie b/c his hand can't stand not having a remote in it.lol I hope you have a nice weekend. Prayers for everything to come together quickly and mom in somewhere safe. ((((hugs))))

A New Day
Terri, I waded out into my garden in knee high water this am and tried saving some plants that were down in the water. That was scary, kept telling myself "no snakes, no snakes". This is the reason I keep all my plants in pots, its been known to flood back there. Most on high ground , but a few went underwater. I had two heavy wooden chairs, with huge plants on them and some how they got turned over. A large branch fell, but luckily missed any plants.

Protein.....injury......aarrgghhh!
I am really sorry you are having these problems. I pray your voice will return. I actually had a positive experience with being intubated. I had a bad car accident 7mths prior to LBS. I had suffered excruciating neck and shoulder pain, that nothing helped. Well during surgery to place the air tube they had to pull my head straight back and whatever they did, I woke up with no more neck pain. I tell everyone I got a bogo. I have been intubated many times and all I've suffered is a slight sore throat. I truly hope you find relief. So very sorry!

Nutritionist Rules - What did yours say?
I was told Protein first, thats what keeps you satisfied. I also add ff plain greek yogurt to a lot of things, just to boost the protein. Plain yogurt in chili is really good. reduced fat Peanut Butter, ff greek yogurt and splenda is a really good low cal snack. The small amount of carbs you shoukd be getting, are good carbs, fruits, veggies and such. Not breads, Pasta and rice. You say you track, do you measure? Sometimes our eyes play tricks on us.lol Good luck!

An array of EMOTIONS! What to expect? Surgery T-14 ?!?!?!?
I think we all have shared in those same emotions. You will find as you progress into this, you will discover a few more. I call them LB phases. Don't be surprised that the night before surgery you cry and think, want in the world I'm I getting myself into and maybe I can loose the weight by myself. Isn't great to know, you're not alone and this is all normal? As long as you have educated yourself and know what you're getting into, you'll do great. Have you tried different shakes, see which brand you like best? Got your sf Jello, broth, sf popsicles ready? Take Chapstick to surgery center with you. After surgery you wake up with really dry lips. Heating pad? SF flavored drinks? Pillow for ride home, seatbelt can rub against your incisions. Best of luck!

A New Day
Dawn, We need to make some kinda pact about riding our new bikes. Maybe our great motivator, Mini, can come up with a challenge for us? I got a new bike a few months ago, but haven't done much with it. I do feel my knees are getting stronger, so there's no excuse.. I bet that churro didn't taste as good as you thought it would.... I bet you thought of us the whole time....bakery items are my biggest tempters. I just thought, the grocery store chain I shop at , always puts their bakery right as you walk in the door. You have to walk threw it, to get to the produce section.Hmmm, sneaky buttheads, like putting candy at checkout, which now they put little bags of chips and Cookies there too. Anything to boost sales.. Dee, is today the last day of school? What are the kids summer plans? Any baseball camps or is it all about goat rodeos, horse chancing and chick raising? How are the chicks doin? Anyway, I'm sure the boys will keep you busy...

A New Day
Good Morning Ladies! Happy Friday! Sending out good thoughts and prayers for all of you, but particularly Nicole's job interview. Carole, Maybe you aren't suppose to find that scale???? You don't need that extra pressure. You might be surprised when you go to the Dr. You are doing a lot of stair climbing these days. Be sure that I will make time in November for a visit. I knew that your visit in August would be a short time and so much to do, so that is no problem. Mini, Its so nice that Nicole can get great advice from you, regarding your shared Drs office. How is your friend that was banded the same day as Nicole doing?

A New Day
Terri, stay safe! We had a wicked storm surge, even with the eye of the storm 300miles out in the gulf. Lots of tornado's in Fl. Our tornado's are nothing like the mid west. I have a weather alert on my phone and it went off a couple times, hope you have one too. Keep us posted.

Dee, Are those new vs bra's holding the girls up well? I had to laugh getting my bra on today. I lean over , while putting on my bra, so all loose skin and boobs fall into cups. When I looked, my boobs looked like they were folded in half in my bra. I thought, I have to go to VS and get these babies some support. So while putting my bra on, I thought of you.lol
