The 1St Day I Ate Food For All 3 Meals!
isajck replied to pdog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats pdog! Real food is a wonderful thing, isn't it? -
100 lbs in 4 months sounds awesome and I can only hope to duplicate that. As I am not the most exercise friendly person on the planet, it's doubtful. I look forward to fall/winter (or the Houston poor excuse for winter) because I will be able to walk outside more. Walking is my exercise of choice but sadly Summertime is no time for this fat chick to be outside pounding the pavement.

I have noticed that and more power to them. I had pain and needed meds for the first couple of days, took four weeks off of work as well. I needed that time to heal and adjust to my new way of living, just do what works for you.

I take colace daily. It helps but with the amounts of food currently being eaten, there is no way my "habits" could be as they were pre-op.

What Are Friends For...no Support
isajck replied to evonnrae's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think you need to remember that she, for the most part, is normal sized so there is no real understanding of what life is like at high weights like ours. Having said that, she is a friend who is showing concern for you and yes, that is what friends are for. No matter what she says you are going to do what you want so take her concerns for what they are and continue on. Good luck on your journey! -
You have just had major surgery, pain is expected. Just take the pain meds available to make you more comfortable. It will get better soon.

You've received some great advice already so not much else I can add except hang in there. I am 6 weeks out, just had a visit with my surgeon and he said my weight loss would slow at this point. I was a bit surprised to hear that and it must have shown on my face because he then reminded me that I did not gain the weight overnight and it would take time to lose it. Just keep his statement in mind.

Really!?!?! Cancelled The Day B4 Surgery After 3 Weeks Liquid
isajck replied to Shubox's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Welcome to the other side. Now the real fun begins! -
With the small amount being eaten at the four week point it will probably be difficult getting the necessary amount in from food alone. Try some unflavored protein, placed in soup or something similar.
-
Six weeks out here and days where I hit 600 calories are considered celebration worthy. At this point I cannot even imagine eating 1000 calories a day.

Please note the post from "Back~To~Amy". While protein is important, the type is equally important and the bullets are not as helpful as they appear.

I Am Having A Hard Time Drinking Water Anyone Else?
isajck replied to janette1969's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's normal but does get better, I promise. I've been there, especially with the melt down. Keep sipping even though it may piss you off because you are trying to stay hydrated any way you can at this point. Hang in there! -
To answer your question, yes a reputable doctor will test you as he/she should. There are several threads discussing this. Do a quick search for "smoking" and you'll probably find a couple.
-
I'd imagine you at least need to check vitamin levels. Can you email the office in Mexico and inquire what specifically is needed?

6 weeks out.

Really!?!?! Cancelled The Day B4 Surgery After 3 Weeks Liquid
isajck replied to Shubox's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I do not understand why they cancelled since they have approval from the secondary. All they need to do is routinely bill the primary then submit that bill/claim along with the denial to the secondary for payment. Someone in that business office does not know insurance or billing which sad. Believe me, you are not the first person with a limited primary and full benefit secondary, not by a long shot. -
When my reflux is bad I will take meds twice a day, morning and evening, close to bed time. Thankfully I have not had to do that in a couple of weeks. My doctor said it should get better as time goes on. Because every patient is different he does not like to give exact time frames.

Has anyone tried the B-12 nasal spray, Nascobal yet? I was so not going to do injections and am not handling pills/sublingual well just now so a sample of this was given to me at my surgeon's office today. I cannot wait to try it. http://www.nascobal.com/

Raw Fruits And Vegetables: When And What?
isajck replied to COsleeveDude's topic in Food and Nutrition
So far I have been okay with grapes and plums, too afraid to try any other fruit just yet. I have zero confidence in raw veggies. My doc's nurse said to give it a couple more months unless they are steamed very, very well. I'd almost kill for a salad right now! -
Contest- How Many Sugar Free Popsicles Have You Had...
isajck replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am addicted to Blue Bell sugar-free bullets. DELISH! Think my record for one day is 6. That was a couple of weeks ago when I was dying of thirst. Thankfully they really do assist with hydration. Now I average two a day, one in the morning and one before bed. -

I suggest you try at least one because everyone has different tastes. Just remember to report back with your findings!

Pre Op Diet Ticking Me Off.
isajck replied to Mrtiger1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
(copying this from another post I made elsewhere on the forum) I was on a liquid diet for two weeks prior to surgery with a non food/drink after midnight the night before admission. I cheated and had chicken most nights for dinner but was very honest with my surgeon about that. While I am sure he was not 100% happy, he did not chastise me. I am not a medical person but honestly, I think they expect a certain amount of cheating. You are asking people with serious issues concerning food and weight to stop eating! I would say that if you cheat, keep it simple, do not go overboard and really try to stick to liquids the day or two before surgery. -
What Happened To My Taste Buds! Day 12 Pre-Op Diet.
isajck replied to ForMyfamily's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Once I hit post op, all of the protein shakes I enjoyed previously tasted disgusting. I am still struggling to find something that can get past my taste buds for they are extremely picky! Some people have an easy go but I am not one of those!
