Have I left it too late?
Threetimesacharm replied to sallo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing to comment with the optifast. You may get severely constipated!! I was on it years ago and actually had to go to the hospital. Be careful and take stool softeners!! -
Any one cheat?
Threetimesacharm replied to katherine1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes it is very hard to stick to such a rigid pre-op diet(without having a tool yet). You will be fine!! Best wishes! -
Wow I'm impressed Dr Zavalza!
Threetimesacharm posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
So I am just over three months our from my surgery and doing well and really haven't had many questions regarding the program as I have had a previous surgery. Anyway I received a facebook post from my surgeon Dr Zavalza checking up with me to see how I am doing and if I need anything or could he do any thing for me!! How amazing is this!! Bariatric Pal surgeons are the best. If you are thinking of going this route do not hesitate, I am so happy I used Bariatric Pal as my coordinating company. Thank you Dr Z!!! -

Worried about weight gain 8 month po
Threetimesacharm replied to Sam58's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I think we all should be fearful, it is too easy to gain weight back, we all know this we all have done it before. I don't think you need counselling, just keep doing what you are doing and be fearful!! -

Please analyze my stall
Threetimesacharm replied to Madamoisele's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
As many will tell you hang in there you are doing great. With such a quick weight loss your body is adjusting. I too lose weight and then gain a little. I know it is frustrating but I have kind of gotten used to it. The last couple of days I upped my cardio by only 10 minutes and this morning lost 1.5 pounds! It could be a coincidence but who knows. As long as you are eating right/water and vitamins the weight will come off! Sleep is important too so make sure you are getting enough. I also eat a little more some days to see if this may jolt my system; they say this shakes up your metabolism. Congrats on your weight loss you can and will do it!! -
Could also be our lack of fiber. You may like to try a stool softener like Colace. Definitely no sticky poops with that!

Threetimesacharm replied to shay_shay209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations I had my revision from sleeve to gastric bypass on September 04, 2015. You will love the GB much better than the lapband. -
Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result............what has the counselor done for you in 5 years? I think it is time for a new one!!

what's your fat habit?
Threetimesacharm replied to nieuwevis's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Putting things in my lap. I now have a space between my legs and before I put put anything on my lap but now it just falls through! -
You are in one word an "enabler" why would anyone let their son AND his girlfriend sleep on her floor!! Tell them to grow up, get out and get their own place! Driving him to work, take the BUS.The ONLY one who can change this so called negative in your life is YOU!! Kick them to the curb and get on with YOUR life! Counselling is highly suggested.

BAND removed now sleeve or bypass?
Threetimesacharm replied to CCMASON35's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Here is my opinion; I have had all three, lapband to sleeve to gastric bypass. I can tell you that the GB is much different/better than the sleeve. I wish I had known before I had the sleeve and just gone with GB. Better restriction, better lack of appetite, no sugar/carb cravings I am 13 weeks out and actually right now just the thought of eating something fatty/sugary, makes me feel nauseous. Last night at work they ordered Vietnamese/Chinese food and the smell was gross to me. I hope that I can have these feelings forever! I am sure that sleevers will tell you that their surgery is the best and so probably with the GB'ers. Don't worry about taking vitiamins I have not found this to be a problem at all. I have just gotten into a routine with it. -

Butternut squash soup...how bad is it for us?
Threetimesacharm replied to mommyto3kids's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is not BAD for us. I have a suggestion though for some amazing creamed soup, "Roasted vegetable soup". I roast cauliflower, onion, red peppers, zucchini and a little squash. When done, really soft, put in your blender or vitamix with chicken or vegetable broth; it is absolutely delicious and not as high in carbs as just butternut squash soup. -
So next wednesday we are having a Christmas party at work. I have been going back and forth in my mind trying to decide if I should eat the food that will be provided or bring my own. I am worried that the food provided may not be appropriate and if it was I won't be able to eat much of it and my co-workers may wonder why. If I bring my own I of course will be able to eat it and be comfortable but then won't be enjoying the festivities as others will. The dinner actually is the main focus as it is a Christmas dinner provided by my workplace. What would you do? I am torn!!

Christmas Party what to eat?
Threetimesacharm replied to Threetimesacharm's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Oh great ideas! I think I will ask what type of food will be served it is being catered. I am sure they will have a protein I can have. -
An easy way to get in more calories/protein is by shake. Are you not able to consume more than 1000 calories because you physically can not? There are higher calorie protein options beef, pork, chicken even have more calories than fish. How about beans higher in carbs and calories most in half a cup are around 200 calories easy way to keep calories up and fat down.

Soups, stews and chilis
Threetimesacharm replied to Threetimesacharm's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Ah responses from my two favorite posters! I hoped you would answer James as I have read your blog and new that you consumed a lot of soups and chilis. -
I am just over 12 weeks out from gastric bypass surgery and have only consumed creamed or blended/pureed soups. I have come across two great recipes one for white chicken chili and one for cheesy chicken and cauliflower soup. So I am just wondering how much to consume per meal? I don't have a caloric/protein per serving breakdown so just wondered what others do with soups, stews and chilis to ensure you are getting the proper nutrients per meal.

How much can you eat at one meal at 2 months after RNY
Threetimesacharm replied to 60&goin4it's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This may sound odd but I think I can eat less now than I did at 8 weeks. Maybe my stomach is now fully healed and my portion size is set. -
