  1. Banded on Tuesday, 31st... have had two awful days...yesterday and today. No problems swallowing, tho I can't seem to burp, and I feel like there is a huge one stuck in there! lots of bloating, trying to pass gas but not having consistent success there either! When can I expect to feel even close to normal? Incisions are healing fine, just itching like crazy. So praying I will soon be back to my normal self - and interacting with my family!
  2. Hello! I am Day Five post...two MISERABLE days in a row. Finding it difficult to avoid a terrible pain in my chest, like a huge burp is stuck. Very painful. Feeling hungry, but nothing sounds good, and I cannot bring myself to even taste a Protein shake....am supposed to be on liquids for another several days, but that thought is dismal considering it seems so limited. Obviously what's done is done, but boy I will sure be happy to get past the bloating and chest pain...anyone exp any of this? When did you get past it? Would sure value some encouragement!
  3. Did anyone ever respond to this? Clear liquids are those liquids tou can SEE THROUGH...broth, Jello, sugar-free drinks - NO SODA. Day FIVE and I want to scream. Or just go to bed and ignore this horrible weak tired feeling until it goes away. I thought yesterday was bad....this is not improving. Probably need to up my liquids...incl Water.
  4. Wow, Mom, to pop in just after your surgery! I'd say you are doing GREAT! And craving that McD burger sounds pretty normal! I personally think it's nuts to say you can NEVER eat that again, BUT for me, I'd have to have a heavy guard along to make sure I don't get carried away. I, too, am sticking "pretty close" to the strict liquid diet, but I have had a couple bites of things just about every day. But this is NOTHING compared to my normal daily intake...so with that in mind, I call this holding steady. I will not lose my mind here, but I guess I am a wimp. I so admire you folks who can resist these impulses... I have not had enough to drink today...better get some more in. This has been my ickiest day yet...thank the Lord it's almost over. took a long nap today and feel like I could crawl in bed now and sleep all night. (its 8 pm). I am trying to think about all my body is going thru now: less food, no sugar, no salt, (except for those sinful nibbles)....this is MAJOR. So it's reasonable to feel crappy. But I take hope in your stories! It can be done! Thanks everyone!
  5. Sweet...I am set for the 31st. Had my labs done yesterday and started the liquid diet, too. Not a huge fan of that, but I am keeping my eyes on the prize! We can do this, right??? And be our best selves. Forever! --Kim
  6. I like to think I will RUN out of the hospital, too! I appreciate hearing about the rough spots...wishing you continued success...and yep, one day at a time! --Kim

Thank you for being fully honest about the difficulties in these early days. I am in Day Two of my two-week pre-op liquid diet, surgery scheduled for the 31st. I want to know what I "could" expect...no sense thinking it all will be easy-peasy. Best wishes to you in your journey...keep posting! Lots of prayers and support for all of us! --Kim
  8. Rachel/Melinda...it's kkccmom...tried getting in from my iPad, but had to re-register...changed user name to MYBESTSELF...thought that fitting! Rachel...love the photos, too, but can't seem to get them to roll smoothly with the iPad Still, I do look for photos online. I feel like a stalker, sort of...but I need the visuals to.inspire me, too. I have only had two shakes today...not enough, so will try to get in at least two more before the day ends. Also, I promised a friend (who had by-pass a few years ago) that I would get in 15 mins of walking today, too, and every day from here on out. I know I must do this. Starting is just so hard for me. Anyone else struggle to START???
