  1. I was diagnosed and started my cpap on June 27th. The machine was very quiet and as everyone has said....if the mask comes unsealed you'll hear the air forcing out. My mask is only on the nose as well. It made a WORLD of difference with how I felt during the day. However, I am looking forward to getting rid of it once I've lost enough weight!

  2. So I finally told my sister and she is behind me which was a huge relief! Now onto mom. Will probably make a special trip out to see her o tell her. Hate to tell her over he phone. It will only be one week before the surgery but that's the only time I have. My sister recently had some medical problems and was very secretive around my mom about it. Not exactly sure why but that's her business. But moms hurt over this and my waiting so long I think will just compound the problem. I wish she would realize we are both adults, both in our thirties. I really think that she raised us to be so independent, it's backfiring on her! Sheesh, my other sister lives in New Zealand so she know next to nothing about what's going on in her life. Sorry, starting to ramble. Just very nervous about telling her but I feel I need to. Maybe she will surprise me and offer to come out and help with the kids. Will keep everybody posted.

    Great! Best wishes to you.

  3. Many people aren't good with "tact" when they are trying to express their concern. Maybe your family feels "tough love" is the best for you. That being said, it's still important you communicate to them "respectfully" that you appreciate their concern for you but it is YOUR responsibility to decide what goes in your body and YOU are the one who has to figure out what is ok and what is not ok for YOU.

I haven't faced this scenerio yet but I have been thinking about how I will respond when the day comes. Hang in there.

  4. I hear ya Robyn! I'm hit or miss with sweets. My big thing right now is cutting out coke. Day 1 is today! :)

How is it going with the Coke Detox? I had been a Diet Dr. Pepper addict for over 20 years and thought no way in heck I would ever be able to get off of it. I even told the dietician I didn't think I would be able to do it. Well....I haven't had a Diet Dr. Pepper since May 5, 2012 and I don't even miss them anymore. On top of that I feel better than I have in a long time....no jitters, caffiene (or lack of) headaches OR spending the money on them every day (I drank six 16 oz bottles per day). It was worth it!

  5. I was the same regretted it in the recovery room and i too asked them to stop all meds with hesitation they did- within 12 hours i was feeling better. I am home now and don't regret it at all. I am having minor complications that in a few weeks should be resolved in their own.

I was the same too. The nausea didn't stop until I said "NO MORE PAIN MEDS!....or anti-nausea meds!" The nurses were hesitent but I told them I had to do something drastic to stop the nausea and vomiting. During night two I vomited/dry-heaved every hour on the hour. Within five hours of stopping everything the nausea was gone and I was able to keep tea down. It was amazing how quickly I transitioned. Best to you on the minor complications still to be resolved.

  6. Hello Everyone! I am into day 6 post op ( as of today). I am trying to drink lots of liquids, as I am always thirsty. Cold Water, seems to hurt going down, so I wait until the water is room temperature. I am doing well with sugar free pops and liquids. I seem to get full quickly.

This is a bit interesting, the foods that I was loving, or had cravings for doesn't even phase me now. In fact, I don't want it. I do crave watermelon, or broth, but none of the other foods; even if someone is eating it next to me. I love that part of it.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

    Alia :)

That's great! I hope I am the same....I've been laying low at home since my surgery on Monday, 8/27 so I haven't reallly faced any challenges watching someone else eat. I also haven't craved anything either....except watermelon sounded good when you mentioned it! I hope the "crave monster" stays at bay for all of us!!!! Congratulations.

  7. I didn't know that you could dump with this surgery. I went in for my checkup at 3 mos and explained that all prtoein powders and shakes cause immediate diarriah and doc tells me - you're dumping. Paperwork I had said dumping only happened with bypass.

I also suffer from major Constipation and slimes too- expected those but would love to be out of this stage!

For those of you taking miralax - is it safe to take everyday and does it cause cramping? I tried the Smooth Move tea but cramps were horrible.

Never knew I wouldn't be hungry EVER - I could probably go days without eating or drinking. I have to eat and drink at set times or I won't get in my liquid and food for the day!

I wish I had known years ago that this surgery was an option to get rid of my ulcers and severe acid reflux. I still take an acid pill here and there but am officially ulcer free!

I'm so sorry the smooth move tea gave you cramps!!! I haven't had any issues with it at all...it's the ONLY thing that doesn't give me cramps. Crazy how we all react so differently to things. I hope the Miralax works for you.

  8. It's so amazing what a supportive group we have here. We are all done! I've found it interesting how some of us experienced no challenges and others had some or many (I had nausea, vomiting and stomach spasms). But it appears we all have agreed that it gets better each day. I look forward to continuing this journey with each of you and to Celebrate the victories and work through the struggles. Happy day August Sleevers!

  9. So glad to hear that you are doing well. It will really get better every day. Take care and rest up as much as you can.

Thanks! It has gotten better each day. I had to stay in the hospital two nights because I couldn't keep anything down. I dealt with gas pains the first night but after that no pain....only nausea. The nausea is gone today and I'm keeping liquids down so it is so true what you and everyone else says....its gets better each day. Thanks for the support!
