Why I'm Hungry Or Is It Head Hunger

How far out are you? I found myself so hungry in the weeks after surgery and part of that is because of mind hunger and boredm cause you're recovering and not working. I personally tried to side track myself, sugar free gum worked well also. Good luck hun, it gets easier.

    Missed Period

Curious did any one else skip a period after surgery? I actually got mine a week after but now I am 2 weeks late and not sexually active so just curious if anyone else skipped periods. If I miss next month I'll advise my doctor but I can only assume my body is in complete shock and with all the new vitamins etc. my body is just not 100% yet.

    Missed Period

Of course the day after I post this I start my period. Yay?? Um not! I haven't had this bad of a period since college. Any pain killer suggestions since we can't have ibprohphen. Hysterectomy sounds good about now.

    Missed Period

    Thanks!
  8. I don't know why, maybe I'm just so proud of myself for making this life change, I tell everyone! I've lost 41 pounds and am a month out, I don't see the weight loss and I don't actually have people saying "wow you look great" but I eat tiny amounts, compared to before. And again I am proud of myself and my decision.

    Colorado Sleevers

If that is what you want for your life in long term it is definitely recommended. Who's your doctor? Eating out hasn't been that hard, most places have nutritional menus now if you ask and obviously logic is best. Like last night I went to Denny's and got their grilled chicken sandwich with avocado, no cheese and light mayo and took off buns it was yum! And altho it registered as 500 calories, I know it's not cause I took the bun off and no cheese. I use my fit pal app to log food and I just write notes like "didn't eat bun", still log the calories but if it goes over my daily calories I know it didn't and my notes dictate that.

    Colorado Sleevers

Went good, I definitely rushed thru it though. Somewhat wish I had more will power. I had a few complications all of which I'm sure are my own fault. (if you want to know ill tell you) One thing that was hard is I was really hungry after surgery and am still dealing with the mental hunger issues. The biggest problem I've had is I didn't do a PRE-opp diet or learn how to be healthier. I also have a bigger sleeve, doctor told me mine is the size of a medium banana vs. small one, not sure why, going to ask next doctors appointment. Anyway I've kind of taken the diet into my own hands in regards to liquid to puréed to soft foods to regular. I did what felt right and have been fine with it so far except my nutritionist isnt thrilled cause I am not sticking to the portion size of 1/4 cup, I actually got bumped to 1/8 cause of my sleeve size and lack of energy. I take small portions and usually rarely finish the whole thing. But I have noticed lately I can do 2 soft tacos, but I do wrip off all the access tortilla. It's all very weird cause I don't really feel the "full" pains. I stop myself when I feel anything pressure wise but I was really excepting and hoping for like a major pain or red alert or dumping cause I honestly think that would be easier. It's all very new. I'm calorie counting and even that is new for me and the hard part is making the Protein the biggest portion of my meals. One other thing I also do is constantly question my nutritionist, the reason I say this is because my sister is a natural path and very organic. While she supports what I am doing she also firmly believes my diet needs to be more of a lifestyle food change, which I agree with. But I travel a lot and am a creature of habit. So just trying to figure it all out myself. I'm not a fan of chemicals so other than some of the sugar free stuff like Jello and the Popsicles I'm avoiding the fat free and fake sugars. Stevia is good tho. What's funny is a friend of mine who had the bypass just stopped with all the sweeteners and fat free, his metabolism kicked into high gear, he had been stalled for 8 months and no weight loss. Now he is eating organic and has started losing weight again. Crazy. I'm rambling and I want you to know the thing I've walked away from this you know your body best.

    How Can I Be Hungry?

The #1 thing I have seen that is drastically different on this site is everyone's diets. Definitely check with your NU. Also understand I question everything. Remember it is quality food over quantity and Protein must come first. I'm having a hard time with that right now myself.

    Drinking Too Much?

Everyone is different. I was able to get down 64 ounces 2 weeks out. As long as you're not in pain or pressure then don't worry. Listen to your body, you'll feel the pressure. It was hard for me to understand why I was getting things down so easy but when I did push too far it hurts.

Too Gross To Ask? I Hope Not...

Anyone else ask how big your stomach was when they removed it? I did, was non to happy to learn it was the size of a rugby ball.
  17. I'm feeling a bit deflated and frustrated, which I'm sure some of you won't understand but if anyone in my life could understand it would be you guys. So before surgery I ate horrible hours and large portions. Mainly take out but quality restaurants, I have a horrible work schedule and travel a lot. After my surgery, I'm frustrated because I'm not feeling any of the things everyone says they are feeling. I barely feel the full feeling, nothing is making me sick, I basically skipped the puréed phase but was on liquid diet for 2.5 weeks. I did have obstructed bowels which landed me in the hospital for 4 days, only because I also had infection and low anemia. I am on soft foods now, which go down fine, been bumped to 1/3 a cup instead of 1/4. Again everything goes down fine. I have lost 39 pounds, at 3 1/2 weeks out which is great, although I don't see it other than on the scale. I obviously can't eat a lot but I am hungry and feel a bit lost in the whole nutrition department. I just expected to have my body be more strict, like dumping if I got too full. My doctor told me he removed a stomach the size of a rugby ball and left a stomach the size of a medium banana and I'm wondering did he leave too big of a stomach? Why does this feel easy? I dont want it to be. I want to feel different and like I can't eat the crap I did when I had my normal stomach. I want to be clear, I'm not over eating or pushing myself, but I don't like that I feel the same, just fuller quicker. Sigh, not even sure I'm explaining it right cause I don't really feel full either just don't want to push it. I also can't seem to get the eat for 20 minutes thing down, so easy to eat 1/3 of a cup in 5 minutes. My fear is because I feel normal that passing up Burger King isn't going to be as hard soon. I already had a fish sandwich from mcdonalds minus the bread. Sad day for me when I did eat that. I wish my stomach would reject something!! Wondering if anyone else had it this easy, and how they managed to stay focused and on the right path. Nikki

    1Year+ Out, Calories A Day?

Have you spoken to your nutritionist? They should be guiding you thru these changes. The one constant thing I see on this forum is that everyone's diets are different. There is an average that seems normal but your calorie intake has to do with your height, goal weight, activity level not what others are. Congratulations on the weight lose to date, has to feel pretty awesome to now be in the "I just need to lose 10 pounds" catagory, never been there excited to get there myself

    Quwstions On Puree Food

I'd been up and around doing things around the house even ventured to get a Mani/pedi at the mall and did some walking while there. But nothing has kicked my ass as much as grocery shopping I seriously wanted to murder someone when done. I was sweating, annoyed, stressed and fatigued. I wanted to stab a b***h haha. Maybe it's all the food we can't have plus the walking hahaha.

    Is This Too Easy?

Oh and I haven't experienced the vomiting or rejection. I have pushed my sleeve too the point I had to lay down cause it hurt. That was no fun.

    Is This Too Easy?

It's nice to read that it's so easy for others as well, I kind of felt bad posting stuff like that on here when others are talking about barely getting down liquids. I'm 3 weeks out today, lost 31 pounds already (yay!) but I do seriously question my dieticians methods. Doesn't make sense to me and everyone else is so different plus I'm freaking hungry!! My post op was a bit difficult because I did cheat and tried Beans too soon. In turn this caused me to be backed up and I ended up in the ER twice with obstructed bowels. (Side note: I recommend anyone PRE-op getting an enema prior, only makes sense in my eyes, especially now) Anyway now I'm puréed and it sucks! I don't get how people are eating lunch meat with cheese or greek yogurt when we are (according to my dietician) only supposed to have 1/4 cup of food. Or cheese sticks? I know I've been bending the rules and eating soft foods and I really can't eat more than like 1/2 cup but if it's Soup, even with chunks, I can do a full cup+. Anyway it's frustrating seeing all these different post opp diets and not knowing what is right and wrong. Yes everyone heals different but I wish there was a unified post-op diet. Heres mine: 2 week full liquid (I went 2.5 cause I was in and out of hospital and they feared leaking) 3 week puréed food (until aug 8) / 3 meals (every 5 hours) / 500 calories / 18-25 grams of Protein a day (She's changed me to 3.5/4 hours eat, cause of my lifestyle and the fact that I'm hungry) 1 month soft food (until sept 9) This is let the sleeve properly heal I've been told. Frustrated.
