Hm. I am not there yet, I think I am the opposite, when i was about 220 my face was fine and not fat, once I gained a few more pounds it was like all of a sudden I had the double chin from hell. I can hide it well in pictures, but the girl in the pictures isn't the girl I see in the mirror. I hope you find peace with your face, it looks beautiful to me from your picture, maybe a little bit of change would help you appreciate it more. A different hair cut? New make up?

    Tomorrow is the day!
My surgery is at 2:15pm PST if all goes well.
I have done great with the clear liquid diet the past two days, the pre op diet, I did have a few tiny little bumps, I hope that doesn't effect me with getting the surgery.
I have lost a total of 15 lbs pre op.
I cleaned out my closet and got rid of those close that are, ya know, easy to grow into, and found some jeans that are adorable and tiny. i'm so excited to be able to get into them soon.
    wish me luck.
See you on the other side.
    xoxo.

I was banded August 24, so a little over 2 weeks ago. My doctor has given me the all clear to eat solids, but I don't feel any restriction and can eat almost as much as I did before I was banded. Is this normal? Will i not feel restriction until my first fill?

My surgeon said I can have sex right away, just not Olympic, so basically that means no sex for a while

Yes, we're out there! I know of at least two other gay men on this forum, one of whom I keep in touch with fairly regularly (we share the same surgeon, besides).

This may sound weird, but it's a trick a nurse taught me after a c-section.
Most of the time the pain after abdominal surgery doesn't result from being directly on your tummy as much as it is from the process of being on your side to roll onto your tummy. It tugs and pulls those wounded muscles.
So, what she told me to do was, crawl up the foot of the bed on my hands and knees and slowly lower myself onto my tummy. I was scared to death because I'd tried to roll onto my tummy and it hurt horribly, but sure enough, I did exactly as she advised and it worked. And, the pressure from laying on my tummy actually felt good.
I have now used that trick through four more various abdominal surgeries over the last decade and it always works for me. Perhaps it's worth a try to see if it works for you?

I'm 21 days out as of tomorrow. So I don't have a lot of time on you. I stopped all pain meds within a week. I'm also a stroke survivor with left side weakness so that complicates it a little more. Back to point I'm still working on it. I'm finally ok on my sides and ok 3/4 the way over with a pillow. I just keep trying my sides once I got ny sides I worked on just a little extra. Somedays it was 10 seconds others I made it a minute. Take it slow. I hate sleeping on my back so my sides have been a compromise. I hope that helps.

It took me about a week to go 1/2 on my side & 1/2 on my back ( with lots of pillows!). Good luck, I am almost 6 months out and still get sore sometimes!

Honestly, I slept on my tummy the night after surgery. I never had any problems.
Maybe use a body pillow to sort of prop yourself up against?

From my personal experience I am 5'3 and was a little heavier than you and went from a 44DD to a 36DD so no cup change at all and now that I am smaller my large breast give me constant back pain and make working out harder becuase if I run I will knock myself out lol. I would wait until after surgery and see how things go but keep it in mind.

It was maybe a month or so before I was able to completely lay on my port and even then it was sore.

I like "baked ricotta" which is really lasagna without the Pasta and meat. I also like "taco dip" with taco sauce, fat free refried Beans, puréed avocado, fat free or light sour cream. Mashed potatoes with a puréed chunky Soup gravy on top is pretty good too! Pea soup also purées nicely.

Hi Model, I first saw this thread last night & must admit that some of the responses continued to bother me today. 1st let me say that I apologize for some of the flat out mean & hateful responses. I think if you filter those you will see that there is a consensus that you should go see a doc/anywhere you can at whatever price to address your issue. It's always better to be safe than sorry. I would also like to express that I sympathize with the desire to be skinny & stay skinny so I will not pass judgement on your bmi or why you have a LapBand. So many smaller people pass judgement on the obese & i will not do the same on the skinny. Your struggle is yours alone. I will say that whatever your reason for this thread whether true or false I hope you received what you needed.
It has been my experience that when people reach out in whatever form it should be respected as its a attempt to connect in some way. And if indeed this is a real person with a real issue (mental or medical), well some should be ashamed at the things we will saying hiding behind a computer & keyboard.
    Good luck model

    Is this poster for real?
A lot of what he/she says in the original post doesn't ring true. I can't imagine the port just coming out through the skin like that, if it did it would probably indicate that there was a major problem and the whole thing would be extremely prone to a serious if not life threatening infection. That in itself would be considered a medical emergency.
It is not true that only medical necessities are performed in Australia. In fact if you ever have an emergency and have to go to hospital they are usually very helpful.
Most Australians that did not believe they would get help in Australia would not talk about going to Mexico. medical tourists from Aus tend to go to Bali or Thailand.
Maybe I am completely wrong but?????
So Model please give us some more information. Where do you live? Who is/was your Dr?

Model if you have insurance I'd suggest you get a new band in Australia. I'm in Perth, the whole thing was covered (it's considered an essential non plastic surgery) and I was out of pocket $2500 but I get $250 back.
The best thing is that my dr said that if ANYTHING happens then the whole thing is replaced for free.
If you don't have insurance it might be worth signing up, waiting out the year then getting it done?
I'm with HBF on young single savers + hospital essential.

I may as well have taken an ad in the paper! I told everybody I know, made no secret of it at work, and even posted it on my Facebook. Everybody I know has been very supportive. They do ask a ton of questions, but I'm an attention-***** so I don't mind the questions. Plus, since this is such a huge part of my life, I love talking about it anyway

Christiemr: congrats on the awesome comment! It sounds like you have a very supportive circle of acquaintances...
And I really think I'm better off limiting who I tell. Not that I feel like I'm going to fail, but since most people aren't very educated on the WLS subject they have unrealistic expectations of it. Like when they automatically assume its the "easy way out" and people don't put forth any effort in losing the weight.
