  1. That's not bad at all! Are you going to PV or Tijuana?
  2. Hey! Just curious, how much did you pay? I'm looking on their website right now
  3. Depends on what I look like after the weight is lost... Haha
  4. I've read that some people just use their birth certificates. I was just gonna get one to be on the safe side.
  5. Thanks soooo much!
  6. This may be a stupid question, but where do I get a passport? Lol and I know that I can use the search field and look up past threads regarding this subject, but I don't feel like digging through all of them to find the info out... Guess I'm impatient. Thanks everyone!
  7. Ok, big misunderstanding! Lol there is apparently another Dr. Ortiz that does surgeries in Tijuana as well. Not the Dr. Ariel Ortiz that I have been wanting to book with
  8. Ohhh I didn't know that. I want Ariel Ortiz, never heard of the other doctor. It may be the other one then because the Ortiz I want is usually a lot more expensive
  9. Ronda Stemmons Patient Care Coordinator aLighterMe.com MexicoWeightLossSurgery.com ronda@aLighterMe.com 1-877-765-THIN (8446) ext 32 1-916-683-2808 (direct) 1-916-914-2108
  10. Go to www.obesitycontrolcenter.com... Hes in a center of excellence and he's an awesome surgeon!
  11. Just got the best news in the world! I've been wanting to do my surgery with Dr Ortiz but was quoted 6500, well, now he's working with alighterme and guess what??? $4500!!! This is perfect timing and I'm beaming from ear to ear
  12. Right. Lol I keep trying to explain to everyone that I'm not an idiot. I've done my research, and I'm not traveling to Mx so some doctor can chop out my stomach. But it doesn't matter, they just keep thinking wht they wanna think no matter how hard I try to explain it
  13. I know exactly what you guys are saying! I get so excited some times thinking about it to where I can't really sleep at night. I just lie there awake thinking about it and how different my life will be someday
  14. It seems crazy to me looking through all of these threads and seeing all the significant weight losses in short periods of time. Sometimes I wonder if I would just try one more time to eat healthy and exercise, could I do it on my own? But I seriously doubt it. To everyone around me, wanting this surgery seems obsurd to them. They just don't get it. They don't get the fact that I'm so tired of failing... It's exhausting. It's painful to sit back and know that I could be living a better life than what I am now. Being fat is completely devastating. I've even almost convinced myself that I love food so much that I can't get the surgery because I would miss it. Isn't that ridiculous? Some days I feel so down and all I can think about is saving the money and getting my butt to Mexico ASAP! Lol
  15. Any time I bring up going to Mexico around my family they just all kinda chuckle and under their breath say "Mexican weight loss surgery." shaking their heads... Ugh. I have no support either obviously.
  16. This is awesome! Such an inspiration to those of us who haven't had the surgery yet!
  17. Let's see... I was the same weight all throughout high school, about 145 and I am 5'7. I started putting on the weight when I was about 20- I was partying a lot and drinking fattening drinks like margaritas and piña colada a lot and I gained about 70 pounds in a year. No joke. Ever since then I just keep getting fatter ahhhhh!
  18. 6500 for Ortiz, but he's usually a lot more. He's having a special right now. He's in a center of excellence and he's a member of the FACS.
  19. I'm in the same boat! I'm planning on using my credit card for the $500 deposit and the airfare. I will use all of my income tax return towards the balance of the surgery, and I will try to take out a loan for the remainder of it. Even if I have to put my car up for collateral. Lol that's the plan as of right now. I thought about going to the bank and applying for about a $7000 loan, paying for it all now and reserving my date, that way I can go ahead and be paying on it. I don't know if I'm gonna do that or not just yet.
  20. I just wanted to say that I absolutely can't wait until I can get the surgery done. It's a scary thought, but I'd rather take the risk than continue dealing with all the negative thoughts I have on a daily basis of myself. I just can't take it anymore. Every time I look in the mirror, I don't see myself staring back at me. I avoid pictures, I avoid going out and doing fun things with my friends because I don't feel like myself, and I don't feel good about myself. I have a feeling that even though the sleeve is only a tool, I will try my hardest to find myself again! I love this site and all the positive people on here. Just reading through different experiences helps me.
  21. I can't wait until I get to go!!
  22. Does anyone know if you send off your deposit and reserve a surgery date but lets say you didn't save up enough money by your surgery date, could you push your date back without losing the deposit you sent?
  23. I haven't had the surgery yet, but from browsing around on here for months I've read a lot of different replies to this. In my opinion, I would try to do the pre-op for as long as you can- in your case the 14 days if at all possible because it will shrink your liver. That makes it easier for the surgeon to maneuver around. I also read that if it is small enough, the surgeon may only have to do 4 incisions instead of 5! again, I'm just kinda telling you a little bit of what I've read along the way.
