Awww. I hate to hear that you're in pain! It will definitely be worth it! hang in there!

This scares me a little because I already have issues with my stomach. I take Nexium for the acid reflux. A few months ago my stomach hurt for 2 weeks straight. I went to the ER because I had enough of the pain, and they said it was a peptic ulcer. I'm worried that if I get this surgery, it's going to be even worse! I don't want to be sick and throwing up every day.

If you had your surgery performed at either one of these places, please voice your opinions. What did you like/dislike about it, were you satisfied with the care you received there?

Rosie, I don't have insurance and I know that I will never have enough money to pay for the surgery here in the US. I've been doing a lot of research about having the surgery done in Mexico for under $5,000.

BlumK, who did your surgery?

Tijauna. I think they just like freaking me out about it. I should have never even mentioned it to them. I have no support system at all about getting the surgery and going to Mexico. Their answer to my problem was "just put a lock on the refrigerator." If it was really that simple, nobody would have weight problems, right?

So, my parents are saying that I'm crazy for wanting to go to Mexico for weight loss surgery. They said I need to watch the news because there has been several mass killings down there close to the border. This scares me... I know this is a stupid question, but they seriously have me worried now. Lol

Wow! Everyone is so helpful! It's making this decision very hard! I definitely want the best are possible- and I know everyone that travels there is looking for the same.

I haven't officially set up anything yet, but want to get as much information as possible before I do. Which Dr. Would you recommend for us that are going to travel to Mexico for surgery?

That's true. It's around $4,500. I will get there te day prior to my surgery, but will have to pay for a hotel. The other nights I stay in the hospital, then move over to the recovery house-all that is included in the $4500.

I'm planning on going to the Jerusalem Hospital with Dr. Almaraz. And that's a great idea about the gift cards! I didnt think about that Thanks! Oh! And the recovery house is included in the package, but the night prior to surgery I'm responsible for staying in a hotel on my own.

So, I've filled out the patient care form and I was approved for the surgery in March. I'm choosing to go then because it will give me enough time to come up with the money between now and then. I haven't put down the $500 deposit yet to reserve the date. I have so many things running through my mind right now! Like will I be able to get plane tickets around that time because it will be near spring break? And I'm thinking of when should I make my hotel reservation? I looked on Southwestairlines.com and I can't even book this far in advance lol I think that I'm going to drive myself crazy....

I just recently started researching going to Mexico to get a Sleeve Gastrectomy. I don't have any insurance and will probably use my income tax from next year to pay for the surgery. My family is saying that I'm insane for even considering going to Mexico for the surgery. I've read other reviews and I'm feeling more confident about it, even though I haven't contacted them to get the ball rolling. I'm worried about a few things and would like some input from others that have had the surgery, or is anticipating getting the surgery. Thanks!
