  1. Can you imagine with the technology what WLS will be like in 20 years from now? Lol that's crazy.
  2. I've briefly read up on the single incision sleeve, and I'm very interested in it. I just wonder why not many surgeons in Mexico are performing this type of surgery yet? Well, even here in the U.S there aren't many surgeons using this method yet. A few people have mentioned that Dr. Kelly does it, but I didn't see any info on his website about it. Is anyone else interested in this procedure?
  3. I'm so sorry this has happened to you! Who is your surgeon? Did they find out if it was a leak or not?
  4. Went and tried on clothes today for my new job, and there's nothing more depressing than that!!! I can't wait to get this surgery!!!!!
  5. That's probably when I'm planning on going too! I have a 3 year old and he is going to stay with his Nanna during my brother and sisters spring break so it will be easier on her. I haven't decided on my doctor for sure yet.
  6. I haven't been quoted anything lower than $4,500 to be honest. Please do extensive research on all the doctors that you're considering. Don't go to the one with the best deal. At first that's what I was going to do but realize after reading several posts that I do not want to take the cheap route. Lol I mean, there are other good doctors that are reasonable too.
  7. How far away is Mexicali from San Diego?
  8. It really depends on when I can come up with the cash for it. I don't want to go through a financing company because of all the interest charges. I'm looking at probably spring of next year, but I may wait til summer because prices tend to be lower then.
  9. Hello! I'm pre-op myself, and I've been looking into all these doctors too. I've read a lot of good reviews about Dr. Garcia even though I don't know too much about him.
  10. I'm still researching doctors... I get so confused! Lol I've heard good things about Dr. Ortiz, but I may go with someone a little cheaper. I know their are just as good surgeons that don't charge quite that much, but he's in a center of excellence.
  11. I'm sorry that you're feeling bad I take it that you had the spider surgery done?
  12. Ok, so I have to save up the money for my surgery, but I was wondering if there was anyone else on here that has to do the same? Would you be interested in possibly scheduling our surgeries on or around the same day and be sleeve buddies? Lol. I'm probably going alone, so a buddy would be nice. I know that my nerves are gonna be a wreck, and I will be somewhat anxious and scared.
  13. Hi Melinda! I am still pre-op, still researching Dr.'s as well. I'm leaning towards going with Dr. Ortiz. Check his website out www.obesitycontrolcenter.com...
  14. I agree with you! I really didn't like the thought of having a foreign object in my body. Not only that, but I would always freak myself out thinking it's slipping or something. I did research the plication as well. Out of all the different options, I liked the sleeve the best. I like it because it gets rid of the hunger hormone for one. Also, if I'm not going to be using the other half of my stomach anyway, go ahead and cut it out! Lol I haven't talked to any of the coordinators yet because I still have to save up for the surgery. I figured that I would contact them when I get the money for the deposit and airfare. I haven't really talked to much family about it. The ones that I have told look at me like I've lost my mind... So, I believe I'm just going to save up, book the surgery and tell them like a week before I go. That way I won't have to listen to everyone telling me not to do it for months.
  15. I started putting money into a 401k, but when I left my job, I pulled the money out. I wish that I still had it because as of right now, I don't have any savings for my retirement. I know it does come in handy if you need to borrow against it. My Mom has done that several times when they were in need of money... I wish that I would have known about this years ago! It never even crossed my mind about going to Mexico. If I would have been told about this, I would have probably already had the surgery! I didn't know much about the sleeve, just heard bits and pieces about Lapband and gastric bypass and I didn't want either one of those!!!
  16. Did you get the surgery financed or did you save up for it?
  17. Is it basically the sleeve? Just done a different way?
