  1. Are you pre-op or post-op? Because if you are post-op you may want to wait to buy something (even second hand) until closer to the date becuase your size could change alot! I ordered my dress for my sisters wedding 3 months ago and had to have it altered 3 sizes down!
  2. Dr Brolin and Dr Chou in Plainsboro NJ did my surgery... They were awesome! Their office staff is beyond awesome!! Never in my life have I dealt with nicer people at a Drs office! They all go above and beyond. The Drs do surgery out of the new Princeton Plainsboro hospital, which may I add feels more like a hotel stay then a hospital stay!

Mirena IUD vs. Birth control pills

I have Mirena... I got it inserted about 2 1/2 years after my son was born... The insert hurt a little and my OBGYN said something along the lines of "Man that insert was like someone who hasn't had a baby!" The cramping was tolerable and way worth it! I love the freedom of not having to remember a pill! I talked my sister in law into getting it as well. My brother got stationed in Japan for the next 2 years (he is a sharp shooter instructor in the Marine Corps) so she wanted to make sure she had no babies until they came home! She LOVEs it as well! She said the insert and cramps weren't that bad and she never had a baby before...

  7. OMG... I don't know if it is the warmer weather or what but I am like a popsicle fiend! I seriously eat 2 or 3 a day!! I used to love fudgcicles but not so much now... I love those Edy's ones too but our local ShopRite has had the popsicle brand ones on sale for $2.27 a box so I stocked up on the sugar free ones!

    low mein chineese food

Typically on the occasion my Husband wants Chinese Food for dinner, I will order Chicken and Chinese Veggie... Our Chinese Delivery place has a "Diet Menu" and thats where I order from... The chicken and veggies are steamed and have a light tasty sauce, kinda like a lighter mix between the brown sauce on Beef and Broccoli and The Chinese Garlic sauce... It is so good, plus I get about 3 meals out of the small container which is awesome for my wallet!!

    Weight Watchers

I go to WW... I didn't share with anyone there that I was sleeved... I really enjoy the premise of WW. I like to be accountable and it helps me keep track of my weight, and once I am a lifetime member I am sure it will help me maintain my weight

    Going out to lunch

Good Luck Laura... I hope things go well. Maybe try to just stick to soup or something... I know when I am not feeling well and have to eat in a public place I try to stick to ordering soup and a side salad which is a perfectly normal lunch! I hear you on the possible awkwardness, I actually had a friend call me out who is bigger then I was pre-sx... She actually said "God if you think you're big enough to need surgery then what do you think of me... How are we even friends" I havent talked much with her since my surgery... A couple texts back and forth here and there...

    HSA qualified BCBS plan

You will have to satisfy the deductible before the insurance company will begin to pay... You can have your surgery before the deductible is met however you will be responsible for 10k or whatever is remaining balance of your deductible before surgery...

    breast size (for women)

I have lost about 2/3 of the weight to get to the goal my surgeon set for me... Luckily I have not lost cup size but I have lost band size. I no longer have a roll of fat above or below my bra band. I have also lost my side boob lol... I no longer have that fat that hangs over the top of a tube top lol
  14. I woke up this morning and weighed myself and... Drum roll please.... I am in 'one'derland!! I am so happy! I haven't been less then 200lbs in 10 years!! I was jumping up and down I was just so excited... I took a picture of my scale and text it to all my supporters!
  15. I just made it today too! Congrats! I was so excited for this but I didn't know how awesome it would actually feel!!

    Best NSV so far!

Thanks! The pedi is pretty old! I said to my husband "Awe Damn I just took a pic of my feet and I don't even have a fresh pedi" He just shook his head and mumbled something about how only I would say something like that!

    panni or baby?

I am going to follow this post because I am struggling with the same internal debate... We have 1 son, Husband and I want another child, although that isn't guarenteed to happen (due to some of my fertility issues). We feel so blessed with out 3 1/2 year old that if another baby doesn't happen we are ok with that too. That being said we really want to start trying but not for another 2 years or so... I don't know whether or not I would do a pani before or after baby... We want to try in another 2 years and last time it took me almost 2 years to get preg with our son so it could possibly be another 4 years before I get preg if ever... Thats why I am on the fence... I am def not at a point where I am ready for the panni but I am pretty sure it is going to be necessary!
  20. If I had a dollar for everytime I threw something at my husband I could have self paid for my surgery without blinking an eye... I am over exagerating but you get the point... My darling husband (supportive as he is) has a VERY hard time thinking before he speaks... He makes me NUTS! Luckily it was only a napkin!... I think my husband would be happy with a napkin!

    How will this be different?

I didn't take your post as snarky either... I just know how lately things on this site seem to get misread and I didn't want anyone to read my post the wrong way or think I took theirs the wrong way, it didnt come off as snarky at all

    How will this be different?

I don't know if this was in reference to my post and I am just putting a disclaimer bc I know how things can be misread, I am not being sarcastic or snotty with my comment that I am about to make, and I didn't take your comment as snarky either... I am just going to clairify so maybe it will help someone else... My insurance company did not "bend"... I did not convince someone at my insurance company to allow me to have surgery. It was just the way my plan was written... It looked to the member services dept that WLS was an exclusion to my plan, however I work in the insurance field and I know sometimes those reps dont know what to look for so I went directly to the precert dept...Those reps looked at my plan directly and the codes for the surgery and it was something that was covered bc of my BMI... Also I agree with the last part of your post about sometimes it being easier to beg forgiveness rather then permisson! This is my mantra with my husband for shoe purchases lol!!!

    How will this be different?

Sorry, I just realized my spelling and grammar was AWFUL in my previous post, I typed quickly!
  24. Ima Loser

    How will this be different?

I would call your insurance company. Don't speak to member services, speak to a precertification department... They would be able to look at your plan specifically and let you know... Tell them your current weight and BMI and they can let you know whats covered (if anything at all) and what is required (again if anythign at all) for approval. I am only saying this because my plan looked like it excluded Bariatric Surgery but after calling and speaking directly to the precertification dept I found out they didnt... Whats the worst they can tell you..."Sorry It is not a covered service under your plan" Best case sererio "yes it is covered and by your BMI you are an eligable canidate... This is what you need to do..." Also if you find a surgeon's office local to you their insurance coordinator maybe able to tell you if it is covered, they have experience calling the insurance company and know what questions to ask and who to ask them to. I know my inital consultation with my surgeon was free... Try, it can't hurt! And as for convincing your Husband this is different then anything else, I would show him this site... We are all real people who have like you tried and failed at a million diets... I am sure you can find people who will share their story about how this surgery changed their lives with him directly... I would be willing to share for you! Good Luck!
