  1. Hi Carisa. my name is Kelly. I am also from NJ... We have alot of the same stats I am 5'5 and 245. I have a 3 year old and I was on strict bed rest during my pregnancy after 12 weeks. I am having my sleeve done on 12/12. Right now I am in the 3 months of seeing a nutritionist to prepare me for success after WLS that my insurance requires to approve my surgery. Where in NJ are you from? Maybe we could keep in touch and motivate eachother!

    Can't Wait

Oh I would not talk to him again either!! Good for you! While I know at times my husband gets a little nervous, I know he is just nervous about my having surgery... He was the same way last year when I had gall bladder surgery. I cant complain about my husband, he actually gets angry when I talk about being "fat". He gets angry when I point out flaws in my body, esspecially since I had my son. He is actually the one who made me have pride in my stretch marks. Before I got pregnant I was blessed to not have many stretch marks and the ones I had were on my arms not my stomach. When I got a big baby belly I got a bunch and when I complain he always would tell me I carried a baby to stop complaining. Screw him for trying to make you have an insecurity! Believe me there are men who would kill to be with you no matter how big or small you are. Eventually you will find someone who will love you for you no matter how you look! I am so excited to shop in normal stores, I am more excited to be able to shop on sale racks... It seems like there is never anything on sale for bigger sizes... It will be awesome to be able to walk into the Banana Republic Outlet and shop on the sale racks and have a coupon and walk out with TONS of stuff!! It would be cool to keep in touch and share our progress! We are being banded with in a month of eachother so that is so close!

    Having Surgery In November

I have to have a 3 month supervised diet, per my surgeons office, in order to pretty much guarentee my insurance will pay for my surgery. And luckily they offer that service to their patients free of charge. So I have scheduled all of my apointments with the nut. Also since I have a deductible with my plan that I already met for this year my suregons scheduler agreed to schedule me for my surgery before she gets the approval (which they usually dont do) so I am scheduled for Dec 7th!! I have my last appointment with the nut at the end of October, they will send the final paperwork to the insurance company then. I could have scheduled my surgery for November but I figured with Thanksgiving and everything I should just schedule it for the begining of Dec, then I will have time to be back on my feet completely before Christmas! Good Luck with everything!!

MissLexi- I am married and I am lucky enough to have a supportive husband who loves me no matter if I have the band or not... But I know how you feel on the last thing you just posted... I have always felt as if I am a skinny girl trapped in a fat girls body... I am always very upset becuase I have a pretty good fashion sense and I get pissed off that I can't wear trendier clothes and that clothes for bigger people cost so much money! I want to be able to walk into any store whether it be Nordstroms, Old Navy or even Walmart see something I like and have it fit! Not be upset bc the store doesnt carry an XL or bc the Xl really should fit a Med! I am scheduled for my surgery on Dec 7 and I can't wait! Right now I am just going through the 3 month supervised diet to ensure that my insurance will cover it!
  5. Where are you in Burlington County... If you are more towards Bordentown like closer to Mercer County then there are supporty group meetings twice a month at the RWJ gym in Hamilton and i also believe Princeton Hospital holds a support group once a month as well
  6. I have 2 things... One wasn't even about me but it still pisses me off... 1. When I first started dating my husband I was 18 and in really good shape, probably the best shape I have ever been in... I am 5'5 and at that time weighed about 150lbs, but I was pretty fit. When I met his parents for the first time his father was extremely obese (still is). After we had lunch we left. My husband called his dad to see what they thought of me (on speaker phone). His dad said "She was really nice, but she could use a little nip tuck don't you think?" I was devistated. Then I quickly got over it and said VERY loudly in the car "Is he serious?? Seriously he would say that? does he even owna mirror." His dad hung up the phone. Now my father in law is very nice to me. Needless to say he has never again mentioned my weight. 2. This is the one that isnt about me but it was said right in front of me and seriously pissed me off. There is a lady at my office who is thinner and older but not really old. She was standing in front of my desk talking with a group of people and made a comment about another co worker. He is on the bigger side. Definately in the obese catigory but not big like he cant walk or needs a crane to get him out of his house... Well this woman said "I am sure he eats a ton" another coworker of mine said "I have been to lunches with him and to him house for a picnic and I have never seen him eat an extreme amount of food" The ignorant coworker then said "Well that is because he was in front of people... He probably stuffs his face hen no one is around. You dont think he would eat like that around people do you? When people like him eat in public they dont eat the same as they do in private" So I am very outspoken and have a bit of a problem keeping my mouth shut at times... I said "Oh really...When 'people like him' eat in private how do they eat?" she responds "oh well you know" I said "Obviously I don't" she said "oh I dont know, I dont mean to be nasty or rude" I said "ok" she just walked away looking rather embarassed. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people who have never had a weight problem make gerneralzations that all people who are overweight eat like you see on the biggest loser. And that bothers me... Just because I am over weight doesn't mean when I am home alone I eat 4 cheese steaks, a pizza and a dozen wings... SMH! Other then those 2 specific things the only other things that annoy me is like how sometimes I am refered to as so and so's fat friend. Or you know Kelly the heavy girl...
  7. I work in the "insurance field" for a brokerage company... Typically if your insurance company specifically tells you something is an "exclusion" it means it is NOT a covered benefit... When you directly call your insurance company they are looking at your plan directly. Sometime in a Drs off the Insurance Coordinater is just speaking for an Insurance company in general. I would call Anthem's precertification department directly and ask if your plan covers the specific procedure that you are having done and what your specific benefits are... They will be able to tell you everything inculding all of your out of pocket costs, what requirements there are prior to surgery ie supervised diets, weight history, etc... Personally I wouldn't trust the Drs office with this matter, maybe the insurance coordinator had spoken to someone about your plan directly have you asked?? Hope this all helps!! Good Luck!!!
