  1. I feel your frustration. The same thing happened to me
  2. Wow... It's hard to believe that it's been a year. On july 3rd, 2012', my life changed. Sometimes it hasn't been easy but I'm healthier now than I've been in a while. I've gone from a size 26 to a size 16. I'm down 70 pounds and still losing. Amazing how much things can change in a year. Lapband has changed my life. Today, I'm waiting on a good friend to get out of the same surgery. He was there for me. And I'm happy to be his support person as he begins his new journey.
  3. I tried a new recipe last night and my daughter loved it... so thought i would share with everyone.. 147 calories, 6 g carbs, 5 g fat, 18 g Protein, 0 g Fiber http://www.emilybites.com/2012/08/chicken-parmesan-meatloaf-muffins.html
  4. Good Luck... Each insurance company and case is different... The person that submits insurance for my doctor told me it would take at least two weeks and possibly even a month. She was shocked when BCBS of IL approved mine in 2 days. I think it's rare that it happens this quick but in my case it did. Luckily they moved my surgery date up by 3 weeks.
  5. Hey Haley, My surgery was not that bad. I had very little pain after leaving the hospital. Just slept a lot. Walked often and Drank plenty of Water. Hope things go well for you... Try to relax..
  6. i sent you a friend request this morning
  7. Wow we use the same practice. My dr is dr. Miles. It's nice to meet someone from Birmingham.
  8. Hey juliec74. I'm in Birmingham also. I was banded on 7/3. What dr do u use? My getting a little nervous about my first fill.
  9. awesome.... it will be here before you know it.
  10. I use Matrix. It was the one that my Dr. recommended. I was surprised that it taste pretty good.
  11. Congrats!!!! Just relax... The protein will fill u up. The diet isn't as bad as you think it is.
  12. HI Vickie, Welcome!!!! Good luck on your upcoming visit.. Just relax and have your questions ready. Your doctor and his staff will answer the questions.
  13. Mandy, Contact BCBS of IL directly.. I just had lap band surgery on 7/3 and it was covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL My BMI was 41 and i had no comorbids. It might be the policy that your employer has but it's worth double checking. I contacted them directly serveral times and they were always very helpful. Good Luck...
  14. I'm not in Dothan but I am in Alabama. Just south of Birmingham. I was banded on 7/3.
  15. Good Luck.... Keep us posted... I have my first fill on Aug 14th. I kinda worried about it but ready to get it over with.
  16. My doctor recommended walking to but i didn't really have any gas. I did walk a little bit the day i came home and the following day. But mostly i slept. Everyone is different though. My surgery wasn't bad at all. I didn't take any pain meds once i left the hospital. Which really shocked me, i was expecting to be in pain.
  17. Hey Banderama, My doctor put me ful liquids two weeks prior to surgery. This included Protein shakes 2 - 3 times a day. the day before surgery i went on Clear Liquids. i continued for 3 days post op. I then returned to full liquids for day 4-14. I'm post-op day 11 now and i've lost @ 20 pounds since i started the pre-op diet with full liquids. I will start soft foods next wednesday. I can't wait. Liquids have gotten old. I know each doctor is different so you're doctor may have a different plan. Hope this helps....
  18. I was banded on July 3rd. Didn't have much pain at all. I have been very lucky. I was suprised at my one week post off when my Dr. informed me that at this point i would not feel much or any restriction. He stated that my stomach didn't have a lot of fat at the top so my band was actually put in loose. I will get my first fill on August 14th. Has anyone else experienced this???
  19. My insurance required a Psych evaluation too. they told me to prepare for at least 4 hours in their office. Which wasn't incorrect. I was required to take about 8 different test. the main theme drugs. They asked it every way possible to see if you have ever abused drugs. I actually met with the Dr. for only 10 minutes. Just relax and you will do fine...
  20. I'm in alabaster .. Just south of Birmingham
