  1. LIke i've said before. Like Christmas Eve and IRS audit on same day. (at least for me). Good luck.
  2. I keep hearing (from doctors and boards) that with a lower starting BMI of below 35 I will loose much slower. I understand the heavier you are the quicker the pounds fall off. I'm looking for those who have had success and did it come off slowly. (Just the things that are going round in my mind while looking at another protein shake).
  3. You are a success. You just need to work on continuing success. My PCP told me years ago that if I gained 5 lbs I should change my diet and loose 5 pounds. Weigh weekly but live life reasonably. 5 lbs. is a lot easier to loose than 120. So...loose two pounds. You know how to do it. (Hoping i can stick to my own advice when the time is right Good Luck
  4. Thanks. I'll let TOM run its course instead of goign to doctor. I took 1 oral pill to counteract yeast infection. Hoping that's all i need because this got real irritating real quick. sorry for TMI.
  5. I started TOM last week right before surgery. luckily stopped over weekend. now i'm having spotting but no other symptoms. I took some medicine yesterday to counter-act the heavy antibiotics that would cause a yeast infection. Could i have a bladder or other infection caused by the antibiotics? Never had one before and not sure what to do.
  6. exact same thing happened to me. started TOM 4 days before surgery. havent had TOM in months. Grrrr. wasnt bad. pain meds actually helped with cramping. i told nurse and she indicated it was okay if i had a tampax during procedure. I hope it goes lighter for by the time you reach the table and good luck. You're not alone and they are use to it.
  7. Great job. I'm a low BMIer and was just sleeved 6 days ago. dealing with some head hunger but smells are making me queasy so its not too bad. Hopefully i'll be hot on your tail loosing 50 lbs in 6 months. I cant even imagine that i would be 160 by spring. that would be nice. how much did you loose monthly?
  8. This is the same problem i had. plus i had to take 6 months of weight loss (weight watchers, etc) with results. if i had results i was below the bmi they wanted (35). I ended up self-paying in Mexico. I didn't want my health to get worse or jump through 8 months of insurance hoops just to be denied. Good luck.
  9. My first day home. I only did 4 days of liquid before so I was back to 215 pre-surgery. The IV really made me swell though. I was surprised at my face in the hotel mirror days later. Didn't realize until I went to put on makeup and my eyelids were so swollen i had creases. looked like i had been crying for days. The 10 pounds is from last friday to today. Which I'm sure is actually more because i put on a lot with the surgery and had to loose that too. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me. Good luck.
  10. I wish you ladies all the best. I haven't regretted it yet. Homesick/isolation was my biggest issue (which was really unexpected). Ttry to get hospital room on right side of hallway as the left side has a walkway right next to it so i didn't feel comfortable opening blinds. If unsure just open the blinds (lol) be prepared to be operated on within hours. my flight arrived at approx. 11am and i was in surgery by 2pm. Take 2x3 bandaids with the sticky all the way around. makes it much easier once you are on your own showering and putting bandages back on. They don't sell these in Mexico. if you have any questions you can message me and i'll do my best to answer.
  11. i found mine at walmart but it only says "Calcium" brand name "lil critters"
  12. I didn't get any shots in my stomach (at least not while i was awake). Surgery didn't bother me but needles will send me running. go figure..
  13. I've been very lucky. no real pain. no problems getting in and out of bed, etc. felt queasy for several days but i'm think that may have been more to do with the taste of gas-x than the surgery. once i stopped gas-x queasy left unless i smelled food.
  14. Ok, I'm trying not to be concerned because Dr. Kelly didn't seem to be but Id like to make sure. I have a large purple "bruise" on my stomach. It does not hurt. Dr. Kelly said something about bleeding and cautizing (spelling?). Didn't seem concerned. However when his wife saw it as i was putting a bandage on she seemed a bit surpriced. Now I'm concerned. Anybody else experience this? I just want to know this can be normal. Other than that I feel fine except that I can't stand the smell of food - like when you have the flu or especially like morning sickness - all day.
  15. 34.5 just sleeved by Dr. Kelly
  16. good to know. right now i cant do anything except drink. the smell of broth makes me sick so i'm going to get unflavored protein to mix in my drinks. i'll be sure to get some Milk of M as well.
  17. thank you. im thinking its stress and heat combo. Omar took me around TJ this afternoon, met with Dr. to see a house he was considering buying. Think i hurt Omars feelings because i didn't want to go shopping or dinner. just wanted a hot, dark shower. its not bad now but i see the destination. going to see a chiropractor when i get home. this headache is mostly in the back of my head. i think it may be stress related because i catch myself clencing my jaw.
  18. a mild headache all day. been drinking water. cant stomach the broth or jello. going to try the green tea additive they gave me. Thank you everybody.
  19. i feel for you. hubby went through it years ago. i only had to quit diet coke. he found that getting rid of things that would trigger the smoking response helped. his favorite chair after work to watch the news and smoke a cigarette. Threw it away. Avoided parties/drinking situations for a while because beer and a cigarette went hand-in-hand. Instead of smoking after "ahem-relations" a shower and cold glass of tea and maybe more fun. lol. when he quit years ago you could still smoke indoors in Maryland. Hopefully you won't have that added reminder to overcome. He went from3 packs a day to zero cold turkey, no RX. You can do it. Think of the bigger (or smaller) picture.
  20. I am in TJ now. One thing that surprised me was the suitcase carry on size limited one carryon and one personal item....yeah right. i saw families with 4-6 items. which just meant the people that got on the plan afterwards, if there wasn't enough room, had to stow their baggage afterall. my little suitcase on wheels fit the dimensions required but there were much, much bigger bags being brought onboard. Also, I packed an outfit for each day but in the hospital (Kelly) you are required to wear their gowns (you can get an extra to use as a robe. so i could have saved two outfits. in Dr. Kellys case you can ask for a fan. When i first arrived the hospital was typically chilly but when i woke up i found i was hot the rest of the time. Omar was a life-saver with a fan. If you can bring someone, do. it was alot more isolating than i thought. there were no other sleevers with me. Nurses spoke limited english but they also had work to do so even if they spoke perfect english i don't think it would have mattered. I was more lonely than anticipated and I typicaly enjoy my time alone. None of my contact methods (skype, etc) was working correctly. This is the one thing i would have DEFINATELY changed. If you are a crystal lite user bring it. wish i had. don't particularly like gatorade or vitamin water so it's making it harder to get liquids down. GasX-i never had any real gas pain and maybe its because i ate these strips like pez. don't care for their flavor as it makes me queasy (mint flavor) but i will take queasy over pain anyday.
  21. lol dont feel like a bad a$$. looking forward to seeing my family. this great broth everyone raves about was not for me. good luck. hotel is gorgeous but have no energy to explore right now. just tired. can't eat anything but really dont want to.
  22. no. just woke up. headache gone but i can almost feel it starting to come back. going to talk with dr. tomorrow.
  23. i've had migranes but usually related to not enough fluids and overheated. i weaned myself off of caffeine over the few weeks before sugery and didn't have any headaches. the day this started i was extremely exhausted and i've done nothing but sleep since i got here. no energy.
  24. thats what i thought too but i was getting them even when on the iv drip. i'm retaining fluids, hands swollen, etc. so i don't think its dehydration.
