  1. Ok, i'm trying to rid myself of negative influences. Whether its bad habits or being around people who don't treat me the way I deserve. right now family is my biggest issue since I only have a few friends. Family - my side, small group, worry about everything and nay-say. Can't tell them much because but I only see them a couple of times a year. Family - hubby's side. screwed up. half doesn't speak to other half. thought i was friends with my brother-in-laws wife for last 17 years but finding out that she has been using excuse after excuse and doing things with others and totally excluding us, for reasons I do not understand. chuch/social groups - none & not intersted. friends - extremely limited I'm tired of feeling like a 3rd wheel. I need to reinvent my life and just don't know where to begin. feeling overwhelmed and more upset about sister-in-law than she deserves.
  2. got a text from Omar regarding my pre-op diet. I am to do 4 days green fruits/veggies with 1 Protein shake a day and then 3 days clear liquid with 1 protein shake. I haven't had time to go through all the posts yet as far as what people ate on the first 4 days. I'm not a big fruit/veggie eater so I'm almost ready to do just the liquid phase alone. Get use to it now kind of thing... Would welcome any input as far as what you ate the fruit/veggie days.
  3. off topic but I too have one stubborn chin hair since mid-30s. worse part is I've suddenly developed 1 hair on my bicep. I am constantly looking for it now because it has gotten as long as 3" before I've caught it before lol lucky i don't wear alot of short sleeved outfits but when that changes.....
  4. I've decided not to tell anyone who I couldn't tell its my TOM. lol I will be making changes to my diet. if anybody asks that's my answer and its the truth. they don't ask how my TOM is going, or care, why shoudl they care about this. However, if another person in my situation asks how I did it (depending on person) I would probably pass along the information in the hopes that it would help them. Thats how I got here. A neighbor was extremely open but she also had a lot of family & friends support who had done it previously and since. My side of the family is small, and full of nurses who know it all and would worry themselves to death with everything that could go wrong. My husbands side of the family is full of nosey people who do nothing but talk behind your back or say inappropriate comments in front of others. I don't need the hassle. I do not have alot of friends. I've lost touch with most so if they were to see me in a year 30-60 lbs lighter they would still think I put on weight since I saw them last. My coworkers dont know me well enough and i've told the few that i've talked to about being gone that I'm having female surgery - just enough to shut up my satan-like boss and still allow me to use some of my sick leave. just enough sick leave that i don't have to turn in paperwork. its a personal choice. whether its based out of self-preservation or privacy, it doesn't matter. I also have the choice to change my mind at any point in time. My husband and grown daughter know. I will tell my teenage son. Even though he may say something accidentially to someone that I don't want to know about the WLS I am not willing to run the risk that I would hurt him by not telling him and that is far more important to me (and no I wouldn't tell him its my TOM lol) 10 days to go!
  5. I'm use to the non-Amex stuff. I prefer to use amex because I know i have to pay it off every month. keeps me in check. however, they make the retailer pay so much to accept it...i don't even accept it at my small company I'll keep checking Amazon. Maybe I can use my Amex points if it comes up again.
  6. ME TOO! I just don't want to be cold either. With my luck I'll start wearing long pants and turtle-necks in the summer. Beware of what you wish for..... lol
  7. going to mexico for surgery and I couldn't find the unflavored on amazon. I'll get my daughter to order it and i'll give her cash. just trying to rush things and get ready.
  8. At the time I had no insurance. I had two teenagers and alot of other stressers. I worked from home which was both a saving grace as well as a curse. Couldn't even go to the store somtimes for fear of being out of the house 20 minutes would cause me to go through two tampax and a pad. Finally saved up enough to get an IUD in hopes that it would at least help. (I had my tubes tied after my second so I didn't need this). After 2 months its alot better. very light, very unpredicatable but i can go months without anything. so much better. however, once i've lost weight i want this IUD out of me. if the bleeding starts up again i want a hysterectomy - which what i should ahve had if i had insurance at the time. i have insurance now....the trade off is I work for a lawyer who is an ass. Hoping that by January I have this partial hysterectomy done. i have two children and often which i had more - now that empty nest is hitting. they're both at that age where they swear they don't want children so not holding out hope for grandbabies. maybe alot of pets inmy future? I wish you all luck with your journeys.
  9. I dont have your medical issue PCOS but I can empathize with your aggrivation. I bled for 18 months straight with about 10 weeks of non-bleeding scattered inbetween. I hope you get the answers your looking for.
  10. lolly - I just tried to order unjury unflavored but I dont have their acceptable credit card (I use amex). Can this be purchased anywhere else? Minismom -- Also, when looking at the Protein shots and other forums everybody seems concerned about the type of protein and "Whey Protein" is what we need. This is the only shot I found that was all "Whey protein".
  11. I decided to order the UNJURY but they only take visa/mc/discover and I use Amex. Can this be purchased anywhere else like a GNC, etc.?
  12. Well i have to say you're a damn cute bear. What would you be considered after?
  13. My kids are basically grown. if something were to happen they would feel horrible for not coming to support me. ive asked them to stay home for money reasons alone (unless I can find one of those deal flights at the last minute). We take chances every day. Personally I drive a accident prone road everymorning/afternoon to pay the bills. I have had quite a few accidents over the years (yes, i'm hell on wheels but most were not my fault). In addition, every time you got pregnang there's always that chance. But the love you have for you and your family keeps you strong. This is no different, except no diapers and in the end you will be able to do more with your loving family. Just keep thinking about the things you will be able to do and not focus on the "what ifs". Good luck.
  14. Man I love an Aussie accent. After 25 years I've lost my island accent with brittish slang (due to brittish step father) and now sound like a weird-redneck. lol Keep it up (so to speak) for all of us who whish we had the Aussie whispers
  15. That is a scary thought. I'm in the going back to thin category so hopefully it won't lead to that. however, you are in therapy so thats the best start. is going with you? isn't it more likely that he was drawn to your personality than your "chubby"? I know personally, even when I was very thin, weight on men didn't bother me. IF they made me laugh and were fun to be around I loved it. however, none of those guys asked me out and we lost touch over the years. you were lucky enough to be asked out and I'm sure he'll love the fact that you're getting healty.
  16. if you can find out i'd love to know why. i haven't tried it yet but at least initially it seems like a good choice. Its 100% whey protein, which i understand is what we want. Just went shopping to stock-up a little and get shakes, Vitamins, etc. I was amazed at the differences in protein per drink raning from 5 g per can to 26 for a giant can at walmart. Think i'm going to order some of the unjury without flavor to put on my meals.
  17. Thats why I started my Fat Bucket List....I want to be able to check off items as they are accomplished. Little things not directly related to the scale. I just keep adding to it on my blog. The high heels and dancing sounds great but I've always had a "heavy walk" even when I was a size 3 and I'm not sure how to change that. I would love to walk "lighter". And if I'm angry...oh, hell, watch out!
  18. here's the information if you decide to try it. i figure it's small and quick. Bariatric Advantage "Yes Whey" which is a 2.9 oz liquid shot (25 grams) of whey protein

I am 11 days preop. thinking about hitting stores tonight. can't seem to get my "list" off my mind. Good luck.
  20. Have you tried a protein shot (liquid shot, not a needle?) I found it on a website and it has like 45 grams of protein and 100 calories. I asked previously if anybody had tried it and nobody answered but it seems like it might be helpful, especially in the beginning. If you can't find the post let me know and I'll try to locate the website i found.
  21. Have a question...i now understand why you cant eat during or right after meals, but why not before? Doesn't seem like it would have the same effect.
  22. Got a new one today....Mud Volleyball Charity Tournament July 2013.
  23. My surgery is in less than 2 weeks. I'm gonna have to go off of Omars statement at this time and hope for the best.
  24. this was on another post about a week ago. Hope it helps...(sorry, can't get rid of highlighting when i was searching for it for you "I'm seeing SO many posts about the same exact thing lately and it seems like it takes half a dozen responses before someone touches on the easiest answer, one that will drastically improve quality of life for a newly sleeved person. Expect to be on a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) after surgery. If your surgeon does not bring this up, please be proactive and ask about being on one. If he/she doesn't prescribe one as a matter of course, generic over-the-counter PPIs (NOT antacids) are available and quite inexpensive. PPIs are Nexium, Prilosec and Protonix; antacids are Pepcid, Tums or Rolaids. Many, many people have posted that Prevacid does not help, despite falling into the PPI category. It didn't do anything for me. The feeling of hunger immediately post op? Most often it's acid and a PPI will control it. Burning heartburn or acid reflux post op? Get on a PPI, not an antacid. A really noisy new sleeve? Could be acid and a PPI will help. It could also just be a healing tummy, though, and is very common. Do you feel pain, pressure or like food is coming back up when you lie down? It's acid. Take a PPI, and don't eat immediately before you sleep. Sleep with your head inclined until the PPI controls the problem. Everyone is different. I was only in need of a PPI for 3-4 months post op, though in times of stress (and apparently, pregnancy), I feel the need for one short term. More common seems to be 6 months of use and some people need them for a year. If you're taking the time to research the sleeve, arm yourself with this information. Be prepared prior to surgery! I cannot express how much this one simple thing can affect your quality of life. I hope this post makes the need for one even more visible, and leads to fewer newly sleeved patients living in pain or discomfort, and then complaining about their sleeves! Healing is a tough process with the soreness and seriously restricted diet already and there is no need to complicate matters when there's an easy fix."
