BTW- I saw the coolest CPAP mask yesterday. It was a soft-material mask, instead of plastic. It looks like it is made for women, and even comes in animal prints. I so want to try it.

I just went to my followup visit yesterday to discuss the results of the second sleep study (with CPAP). Apparently, I went from having 28-100 interruptions an hour (without CPAP) to only 2 (with CPAP). I also had no leg movements. CPAP machine has been ordered and they said it should be delivered to me by the end of the week. Can't wait to get some quality sleep.

It is one of the things I am hoping for. Not that it is bad now, just harder.

I love it! You were about my size/shape (before), so I love to see how you look/feel now. I can only hope to be as confident & successful as you look.

LadyIvy. i didn't say VAGINA because i didn't know if they are strict about that stuff on here. A lot of forums don't let you post certain words....i coulda said coochie, clam, poonani, pootang, vag, tunnel of love, "inner goodness" , sausage wallet, among about 1000 other words but i chose to stick with hoo haa thinking it would be safe and not get moderated And like someone said...its all in good light fun ....Glad everyone enjoyed the post and I think it was pretty informational.....
To the poster that got sick after the band and ended up at 98 lbs, hope your feeling great now.

OMG! I was just mentioning to my DH that I used to look at myself and think I looked like a fuller Jessica Simpson. Except, that I see now that I acutally look like Homer Simpson (what with my abdomen being all round and now being a pear-shaped instead of hourglass).

When I went for my evaluation, I was nervous too but she made me feel very comfortable. She asked me what my life was like such as work, kids, and hobbies...she said to get to know me. Then she asked what expectations I had from surgery and what diets I had tried in the past. She explained how much of a change this was gonna be and how I would handle that change. I was honest and said I really don't know how to answer that, because I have all these ideas of how I will handle this lifestyle change, but in reality when the time comes I will just do the best I can and learn as I go. She had also had the same surgery so she knew what I was facing and the issues I was dealing with being overweight. I explained how I wanted to not be diabetic and that my main goal was to cure my illness that I was dealing with , diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and degenerative disc disease in my back . She asked about my support system and who would I be able to count on during surgery and after . We talked about how to handle negative feelings of others who think surgery would be an easy way out, and how to deal with people who will treat you different after you lose weight . I actually enjoyed discussing things with her .

I can so relate to this. I mean when I see myself in pictures, I'm like who the heck is that! I can hardly believe that it's me. I wonder, man did other people see this, OMG they must be horrified! I don't think it really sinks in initially. When I started taking before pictures of myself, I couldn't believe my eyes. I dare not post them until I have some after pictures to soften the blow! LOL

I am three inches shorter than you, but about the same weight. My doctor looked me in the eye, before I said anything, and flat out said if I was looking to be 120 or so to forget it . It is not reasonable- too hippy and curvy and it wouldn't look healthy. I agreed with him. He said a realistic target would be 150ish .

I live my fat moment every day. I commute to and from work on a bus, 45 minutes each way. I started noticing that I always seemed to have a seat to myself on the bus, even when crowded. Once or twice, people have even stood rather than sit by me. I finally realized that it is because people see me and keep walking because they don't want to sit next to the fat lady. It's not like I spill over either, it's just that it looks like I do because of my big upper arms (I keep them on my side by hooking them on my purse straps).

This is why I never even thought about WLS until now. I know several people who did the bypass, and they looked like they aged twenty years before my eyes. I did not want to look like that.
I considered the band, but my Dr told me about the sleeve. I have looked at everyone's pics, and haven't seen one drawn out face yet, so I feel better about the sleeve. Now, if I can only feel better about loose skin...
