  3. Here is a picture of Stevie (Lynn Nicks)...Rescued her from the SPCA. Her Mother is a purebreed Basenji (African hunting or herding dog' date=' and we assume her slutty Mommy done gone out and canoodled with a Beagle. Here is a puppy photo from her crate at the SPCA, and another pic taken last year. She is my life.[/quote']

Does she bark? I understand Besenji's are quiet. I was wondering if the trait carried over from the Mommy.

  4. I'm here' date=' but I'm about to watch my Saints play on Monday Night Football. One thing you need to know about me is I'm a FOOTBALL girl. At our house, fall is about football. I love NFL and College.

So I missed it. How was your appointment today PPPB?[/quote']

Weren't you proud of the Tigers on Saturday even though they lost? Even Saban said LSU played better than Bama.

  5. I'm first generation American. Parents on back are English. You would not believe the embarrassing things that would come out of their mouths and as a teenage OMG. Personally my mother would tell people she didn't like "spotted d**k"' date=' or do you have a ***(cigarette ) and my daughter needs a vest ( bra)

She's 85 now, God bless her, but still don't know what's going to come out of her mouth. LOL[/quote']

I have a friend whose grandmother is the same way. She calls all of her offspring her a**holes.

  6. Are you drinking enough Water and getting enough Protein? That helps me with the hunger. Another thought, maybe have a low calorie snack between meals to take the edge off. An hour to eat seems like a lot, maybe you need a little bit of your fill removed. If you're following all the rules, I'd talk to your nutritionist. Sorry this is happening to you. It sounds really frustrating.

  7. How many fills did you have until you felt the band was really helping you control your hunger? And how long after surgery did you wait to get a fill?

I'm getting banded in Mexico Friday, first fill is six weeks out - is that about right? And how often do you wait between fills?

I had my first fill a month after my surgery (3 ccs). My second fill is next Friday (2 months after surgery). That said, everyone is a little different depending on your situation and your doctor.

  8. Are you going to try to get some sleep? LOL I was so nervous that I tried to go to bed early so I wouldn't have to think about it anymore. Nice try but it didn't work. I was nervous until I was out, but at the same time, I was definitely ready and now I am so much happier and feel so much better. It's only been nearly two months for me, but I'm already off of my blood pressure medicine. So, try to think about all the good things that will be ahead for you and that'll make you less nervous... maybe. LOL

  9. Hi Gordon and welcome. I had diarrhea after my surgery, as well. My Dr. said it was due to the liquid diet. (Liquid in liquid out). He told me to make sure I was getting all my Water in each day to avoid becoming dehydrated. Once my diet changed, it went away. If it gets too bad, however, I'd call your Dr. and let them know. :)

  10. There is something that I would like to add and hopefully this is sensible and not just more trying to have the last word.

SOMETIMES THE MARKETING AND THE REALITY ARE DIFFERENT

When I was first banded I was told that the band would prevent me from eating too much. I was told that overeating would make me sick but it was also noted in several places that vomiting was not normal.

What I discovered was that if I attempted to overeat I would be very uncomfortable. That sometimes it was not possible to tell what was enough and what was too much until it was too late. I also found that I quite often got a very full uncomfortable feeling in my throat that felt as though food was sitting there although apparently this is a referred sensation from pressure on the vagus nerve. I didn't like any of these sensations and for me they were not what I had been told that eating after being banded would be like but I was banded' date=' it was working and if that was the reality then so be it. It would have just been nice if the Drs had given a more accurate picture. Also that was back in the old days when we were told that the food sits in your pouch and only moves through the stoma really slowly.

The new line that is being spun is actually quite hard to swallow ( excuse the pun). The way it is stated it actually sounds like a cross between utopia and/or the band doing nothing. I am still not sure which it is.

The bottom line is that you are not supposed to be so tight that you have a huge list of things that you cannot eat, but you should be able to get sufficient feedback from your band that you know that it is working. If you don't then the whole thing is rather pointless.[/quote']

After sifting through the drama of this forum, I find this post the most relevant to me and my current

experiences. Thanks elcee for getting us back on topic. :-)
