How Do I Update My Tickers?
Juli Salzman replied to kyrasgrandma's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I had a hard time in the past getting mine to update. I'd just keep trying and eventually it would change. -
Yippee! Down a size. I bought 2 new pairs of jeans today... size 16! Haven't been there since the early 90s

Just wondering...is the 1 cup measurement supposed to be physical size or weight? The weight would depend on the mass. 8 oz. of popcorn is a lot more than 1 measuring cup full of popcorn, for example.

Hey Valerie. I'm originally from San Antonio (John Marshall HS). I live on the Gulf Coast now. Welcome and good luck with your banding journey!!!

I had been opening my big capsule and putting it into applesauce (per instructions). When I went for my fill last week, my Dr. told me to try just swallowing it whole. I haven't had a problem yet!

October Bandsters?

I just had my first fill. The Dr. Put in 4cc then hade drink a little barium and he watched it go down in the fluoroscope. He counted how long it took to go through my pouch then removed 1cc because it took to long. It was really cool seeing my port and watching as the liquid went through my band. I could see the difference when there was too much restriction. After that, I drank a cup of water. He said people often pass out because the procedure goes right by the Vegas nerve. I love going where I go because its a teaching environment. There are always interns being taught, so I learn a lot.

If you have a tandem Kayak, let your husband paddle. Otherwise, the abdominal workout might be too much since you're not supposed to be going to the gym yet. That's just my opinion. :-)

Try These! 42 Grams Of Protein In 3.8 Oz!!
Juli Salzman replied to amyknecht's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've tried the grape and the punch flavors. I can't stand the taste, buy I drink it in two halves. It takes about 3 swigs for a half for me. I just imagine its nasty medicine my Mom used I make me drink. When I'm done, I know I've taken care of a good portion of my daily protein and its worth it! -
Survived My 1St Fill, But I'm A Bit Annoyed
Juli Salzman replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It seems to me that she should be asked that question a lot. I think most banded patients want to stay abreast of what's going on with their bodies. My first fill should be next week and I'm sure going to ask! -
How Soon Did You Return Back To Work After Surgery
Juli Salzman replied to goingfoit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was on a Wednesday and I returned to work (elementary teacher) on the following Tuesday. I should have waited one more day. -

Thanks. I'll try to make it.

When is the Alvin group meeting again? I'm in Angleton.

I'm up a lb. to 231. I'm not worried about it though. I think it is because I recently went from liquids to mushies and now slowly to solids. I'm happy that I'm just able to finally get enough protein and am only forgetting to take my calcium about once a day. I may not make my 225 goal for this month, but I'm following the rules without a full and am feeling better than I have in a long time. And I've still lost since my Aug. 29th surgery!

I am now 3-1/2 weeks post op and slowly getting back to eating according to my Dr.'s schedule. He advised me to talk to my prescribing Dr. about how to take my Adderall. I haven't taken it since the day before my surgery and I need it to function at work. However, my prescribing Dr. told me to just open the capsule and mix it in with my food. My fear is that I'm on 30 mg and it's the extended release version. Does this concern any of you or should I just do as told? I would be more comfortable going to a 15 mg pill twice a day.

I just started transitioning from mushies. I tried shaved (as thin as they could slice it) smoked turkey from the deli. Then, I cut it into small pieces. No problem. Then, I tried ham the same way. I got sick almost immediately. So, I'm sticking to the nice, moist turkey. Tuna goes down easily for me, too.

Adderall Xr Concerns
Juli Salzman replied to Juli Salzman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok. I looked it up at the Adderall site... "ADDERALL XR capsules may be taken whole, or the capsule may be opened and the entire contents sprinkled on applesauce. If the patient is using the sprinkle administration method, the sprinkled applesauce should be consumed immediately; it should not be stored. Patients should take the applesauce with sprinkled beads in its entirety without chewing. The dose of a single capsule should not be divided. The contents of the entire capsule should be taken, and patients should not take anything less than one capsule per day." -
In our Sunday paper's coupon section, there is a Walgreen's center-page spread with 6 body fortress coupons including $3 off their protein powders. It's not in the Walgreen's section.

I came home from a long day at work really, really thirsty. It's not diabetes-related... just thirsty I tried eating some ice chips and sipping water, but I want to just chug a big glass of water SO BADLY! Has this happened to anyone else since you got banded? How did you get relief?

Staples..glue..or Stitches?
Juli Salzman replied to Sarah75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was glued in my belly-button, about 4-inches above, and 4 inches to the left of my belly-button. The only large incision with the higher one.
