I hear many people benefit from B12 injections. Are these administered by the surgeon who performed the sleeve, PCP, other healthcare professional, or self administered?
-
Give it a couple of days. I was out of commission for the first 2 days.
-
I did not have a drain. The nuses told me I didn't require one. I think it depends on the person.

I burp constantly. . I feel like Snookie on the Jersey Shore. The difference is I don't do it in public.

A common question surgeons ask prior to surgery is: How do you do under anasthesia? I would definitely inform your surgeon about this experience, and get his take.

Welcome Sabrina! The pre-op diet is hard for the first few days, but it will get easier. Hang in there.

AZ1369... I would eat the salad or have some Soup, then you don't have to do any explaining, especially if you are only on day 3. If your really concerned I would call your surgeons office and explain you dilemma.
Nicksmom.... Fortunately I didn't experience the liquid in liquid out on the pre-op diet, though I understand your concern.

Ugh' date=' I read you were in a stall.... I'm sure it will be short lived. How are you feeling otherwise? Are you able to tolerate food and liquids well?[/quote']Yeah I can tolerate liquids well. I can only eat about 1/4 cup of food per meal, so that's great. I'm sure the stall will end soon. I'm feeling great. I have been walking, but I think I'll add some more vigorous excersize to jump start the loss again. Have you started your pre-op diet? If so, how's it going?

Sherry77, thanks for posting your experience! My date with Dr. Rantis is 9/24 at Alexian. I go through bouts of anxiety about this but I know this is the best thing for me. I am a big baby but your summary of the day really helps. I hope you are doing well.
Good Luck... You are in great hands. Let me know if you have any questions. Keep me posted :-)

I'm 1 month out. My husband and I just too a trip to lake superior. ( 7 hour drive ) on this drive the man would stop and get milk duds, whoppers, beef Jerky. At first it really bugged me but I got used to it. I just kept thinking.... " this was my decision, and I shouldn't expect him to change his ways, though it would have been nice. Hang in there when the weight starts melting away, it won't matter :-)

Wow some people are such flipping arses! Please stay strong and realize the biatch is miserable in her own skin, therefor it makes her feel more superior to make nasty comments.

You look great! I bet you were getting compliments all day from the other teachers.

My insurance covered at 80/20 with an oop max of $2,000, after a $0 deductible. My hospital just required deductible paid in full, day of surgery, however I have not gotten my bill yet so I'm unsure what the total cost is.

I think what people have to accept is everyone has different philosophies and methods of what does or does not work for them. There are the die hard "I will never put another unhealthy bite of food in my mouth" people' date=' the "everything in moderation" people (me) and those who are still just trying to find their way.Personally, if I was so strong that I was able to say "I will never put another unhealthy bite of food in my body", then what the heck did I need the sleeve for to begin with? I am not that person. I am a foodie, I like enjoying different cuisines and such. I just wanted to be able to eat like "normal" people do. Instead of sitting down and having a whole bag of chips and dip, now I just have an ounce of fat free Pringles when I want chips and I am completely satisfied. If I go to a birthday party and there is cake, heck yeah, I am going to have a piece, especially if it is chocolate. Difference is, a few bites and I am a satisfied girl.
My fiancé is a licensed nutritionist, personal trainer, yoga instructor, owns a martial arts school and counsels people on healthy eating and also cooks healthy meals for the senior center. Yes, he is a very busy guy. He agrees with my philosophy on everything in moderation. Better to have a small, satisfying serving now than to deprive myself and eventually end up binging. And guess what, we eat Pasta too! Your body actually needs a certain amount of healthy carbs, it's okay. We have whole wheat Pasta once or twice a week. At the same time, I do make sure I drink plenty of Water, eat healthy fruits and vegetables and lots of Protein. I also exercise and do martial arts. I eat an average of 1800 calories a day. I do not believe that living on 800 calories a day outside of your initial weight loss period is healthy for ones body. I am three years out, have lost over 113 pounds at a healthy pace and feel great and am happy.
So, I guess what I am saying is, if you are of the "I will never put another unhealthy bite of food in my body" people, great! I think that is awesome. I will not try to push my methods onto you, I will not chastise you for the way you do things and I will be 100% supportive of you. In return, I ask that you not criticize me for my methods, especially when they are working for me, or make me feel like I am less of a person or a sleeve failure because I want to enjoy everything life has to offer, including food treats. If you see a thread where somebody wants to know about eating macaroni and cheese, instead of criticizing them or making them feel bad, either choose to simply keep the peace by passing up that thread, or perhaps offer some healthy alternatives like many have chosen to do.
Peace and love to all!

This so needed to be said. I love your philosophy!

Surgery is a major "upset" to the body. Your being off-schedule can be attributed to any number of reasons:1. Increased hormone release from fat cells during initial weight-loss
2. The body reacting to the major surgery
3. Delayed anaesthetic effect that can also effect hormones' date=' cycles and rythmns
etc.
As long as you're sure there's no chance of conception (you sound pretty certain to me!), I wouldn't worry about it for the first couple of months as your body readjusts and sets itself into a new routine.
Of course if it is really worrying you, as always, consult your medical team for professional medical advice![/quote']
Thanks.... Could it seriously last a couple of months? :-)

I'm 4 weeks out. I am 5 days late. Did anyone else experience this? I am assuming its the whole weight loss and increase in hormones. I know its not pregnancy, because then it would be either considered an immaculate conception, or I might have some serious "splainen" to do to the husband.

What is Moscato?Delicious wine. Love it!

I am 5 weeks out and have hit a stall as well. It is normal from what everyone is saying it happens to almost everyone 3-4 weeks out. I guess we just have to wait it out, though I hear ya it is frustrating.
-
Ooh I have to try this.
-
Thanks guys!!! I love these types of books too. I read "designated fat girl" by Jennifer Joyner. It was really funny. :-)Ooh I'm going to have to read this one! Thanks

Thank you for sharing your story Phillip. It sounds like you are going to be a sleeve success. Good Luck and welcome.

I'm stalled too at 31/2 weeks out and it's frustrating because I'm eating so little and have been very active. Ahhhh I just want to scream.

When I ask for these injections, what should I say the reason is for needing them?
