  1. Yes I see you skullgirl! :) Now If I could just pm you things would be perfect. I don't know why I can't pm you but I can respond to your pms

    Thanks for the link AJ!

You have to copy CG' s user name and paste it into the pm, can't just type it.

Or hold your cursor over her user name and a box will open saying if she is on line. That box has a pm the member button, just click that.

  2. Hi Ajtexas , I have no reason not to believe what my doctor said to me, the reason because I ask others was because I never knew the information they give me , I really do not see why my doctor will said something that is not accurate because for me it will not make a difference if they put it during surgery or not , for me this site is to help others and ourselfs to achive a common goal and provide information that can help others, you said " the band doesn't come with Fluid in it" in other words you are calling me a liar or you are calling my doctor a liar , I did not appreacieted that , maybe we have to reserched to find out what is true or what is not,

What I meant was the manufacturer does not put Fluid in the band, it is empty and when the surgeon places it in you they sometimes put fluid in it. I am not calling anyone a liar. I am saying each surgeon does different levels of fluid at time of surgery.

I'm sorry you misunderstood me. And yes this site is for help and to support each other. I thought that was what I was doing. I did not mean to offend you. I am truly sorry for that.

  3. Congratulations on making the decision to better your health. And yes stay on top of your doctor and insurance company.

Waiting is hard but you can use the time to research and learn the new lifestyle you are about to encounter. Practice better food choices, learn a new exercise routine and reach out to support groups for more education (both online and local).

    Good luck to you.

  4. O k I know about the different plastic surgery's but can you inform me what everybody that has some kind of plastic surgery what are drains and what do they do, please enlighten me so I know what to expect if I ever think about having it or if I will have to, thankyou and I am glad you are feeling like your new self, also happy for you that you could do this ,

When you have surgery your body generates fluids during the healing process, this Fluid collects under the skin and has to be drained out. I had 2 drains (left & right), they were each a plastic tube coming out of my groin to a plastic collection thing (looked like a hand grenade). I would empty them when they got full and record the volume of Fluid for the doctor.

The doctor removed them last Wednesday, but my body is still producing the fluid and now I have a Water balloon for a tummy. I go to my doctor this morning so he can remove the fluid....probably with a needle. :(

    Hope this answers your question.

FYI - as painful and troublesome this surgery has been, it is worth every minute of it to me!!

  5. Hello AJ and congrats on the successful surgery.

Sound like you are doing great....can't wait to see pics of how amazing (more amazing) you look now that 6 lbs of extra skin are gone....wow....that always blows my mind!

Thanks for sharing your story...and good to "see" you again!

Hey girlfriend, great to hear from you!

  6. Congrats on reaching goal!

We are all learning this new site and Alex is still working out the bugs. i don't think he has all the bugs worked out for uploading pics, but you can always PM him and ask.

    Again, congrats!!!

  7. You post was honest and sincere up until you said this:

"If you are the type of person from a small town and DON'T like diversity or opinions of others and only like to get YOUR advice from people that you *LIKE* AND CLICK with, please block me, because that will surely help me, because I don't want to waste my fingers helping someone that have other agendas here. "

Why did you feel the need to insult us? Did you ever consider this is why people don't respect you and your opinion?

Try sticking to telling your story and keep the insults out....it might help.

  8. Hi y'all. I'm a sleever and I had my TT on Sept 30. 12 more days till I'm released to go back to running.....can't wait.

Even though I had no band to unfill, like y'all I had a tremendous amount of restriction those first few days post op. Nothing too severe but it was definitely a few days of liquids only. Of course now I feel like I could eat the whole thanksgiving turkey in one sitting....boredom cravings.

Anyway....curious about how this surgery affects your port? Did it change the location? Did it have to be relocated? Does it change for someone with more extreme weight loss? I lost about 180 lbs and most of it seemed to come from my midsection. I have a birthmark that was up around my lower rib cage....it's now at my TT incision line so I cannot imagine what would have happened to a lapband port (is that the correct term...port?). The good news is they removed all but one of my 6 VSG scars. Of course I have a new....much bigger scar. But it's so gruesome....it's awesome! Plus I can see abs. There is nothing sweeter than that.

I was worried about my port, would it be in the way, etc... I researched surgeons and picked one who has years of experience doing TT on banded patients. Yes the port and tubing are in the way, the doctor has to work around them. The port is attached to muscle (not the skin) so it doesn't have to be moved. I no longer have the scare on my stomach showing me where my port is, I have to feel for it, lol.

At my week post op appointment my doctor asked me if I had any troubles with getting fills. I said no why? He said that my port was tilted sideways.... He straighten it and added a few sutures to it. Fixed it while he was in there, lol. It could of never become a problem but didn't hurt to correct it now. I am thankful my surgeon is so familiar with the band and yes he did send a report to my Band doctor regarding the port.

  9. I had my one week follow up appointment today. Doc said everything looks great. I still have both drains (one more week).

Asked doc how much skin did he remove.....he removed almost 6 pounds of skin. Holly cow! I have not stood on the scale since surgery (& don't plan to until all the swelling is gone).

Can't wait to go cloth shopping!

  10. How are you feeling today?

I am feeling really well. I take Tylenol during the day and a pain pill when I go to bed (I still hurt at night cause I keep trying to sleep on my side and stomach). I am walking as much as I can, even logged 5,000 steps on my fitbit yesterday. The hard part is going from standing to sitting and vise verse,

My follow up appointment is Wednesday morning, I'll post an update after that.

    Thanks for asking.
