  1. NSV is non scale victory. Something changes due to your weight loss. Crossing your legs, sitting in a chair and your hips don't rub the sides. Things like that.

PB is productive burp. When you eat too big a bit, don't chew enough and/or eat too fast you salivate and spit up similar to a baby spitting up.

Those are the 2 used a lot.

Congrats on your surgery and good luck.

  2. I agree with you, Missy. There are many reasons for obesity as there are many different diet options out there. Doctors have different views and they are constantly changing. Low carb dieting like many other diets (Adkins for one) have been called fad diets by many. Really all diets are fads in one way or another. Does that make them bad or a waste of time? No if you choose a diet plan that you like and are successful at it, do it. Do what works for you.

BTW, the plan that works for me is low carbs. Guess I like that fad, lol.

  3. It's great that you are starting to change your lifestyle and eat like a bandster. The only advise I have is eat your Protein, don't drink it. Yes you will have to do Protein shakes during the pre & post diets and after fills, but not on a daily bases.

Eating a high protein diet is healthy as log as you are also getting your veggies in.

FYI - Mis73 uses the app Lose it & really likes it.

    Good luck to you!

  4. I was tired, tired of not being able to walk up a couple of stairs without being out of breath, tired of sitting on the couch just eating, tired of taking so many frigging pills, tired of hating myself and feeling depressed.

My a ha moment was driving to work one day and I heard a commercial for True Results and the band. I looked into it and here I am, happy and healthy!

  5. took chicken breast (shredded it) almost pulled pork texture made sure it was small sections

took green/yellow/red bell peppers and diced them up (yep eating as i was chopping) and also took a gorgeous white onion and also diced it up

took some shredded cheese and some salsa out

sprayed a frying pan with pam spray

tossed in the onions/peppers and browned (gosh that smell is divine) then put in the chicken and let it cook til done/tender

before serving' date=' add cheese to the top (measured out to my 1 cup--quite filling) (hub added sour cream/salsa to his and a couple large tortillas)

and we be talking filling and very tasty.

    thought i'd share.[/quote']

Great recipe. When I make this I top it with plain ff greek yogurt (tastes like sour cream) and salsa.

Even have my hubby and daughter eating yogurt for sour cream. (I know you don't like yogurt)

  6. Crazy Yellow Rose of Texas aka AJ has got me addicted to pb & Plain ff greek yogurt...

I have grown up Hating yogurt' date=' but since surgery I've found out there is some pretty good yogurts.

Whatever anyone does, don't try plain greek yogurt by itself, yuck.

Mixed in with things, chili, Soups etc yummy.

Keylime 100 cal, ff greek, one of my faves[/quote']

    Not my fault!

  7. Been banded 5 weeks and never had a stuck episode. I'm in the green zone and consuming 800-1200 cal per day with 60-80g Protein. I do cardio 3-4 times per week. Is this normal about not getting any food stuck? I chew real real well.

Yes this is normal. This is how band life should be. You are doing great, don't change a thing.

  8. My office is always cold.

It's 100 outside and here I am with my wooly socks and fleece jacket on. Such a fashion statement.

Best part of the day is getting in my hot car at 5. Lol

  9. I had my surgery through TR on June 11. I have my first fill scheduled this Thursday.

For those of you that have used TR will someone at this meeting talk to me about nutrition, meals, etc?

At this point I haven't met with anyone except the nurse who did my pre op assessment. I went in late Friday afternoon for a consultation, that rolled into the pre op assessment. Ten days later I had my scope and then 14 days later surgery. I met my surgeon on his way into the operating room. In fact after he talked to me I remember panicking because I realized just then that my band wasn't going to have Fluid in it and I had this "vision" of starving to death for the next 4 weeks!

Don't get me wrong, the people I've talked to at TR have been nice, I just read on here about people meeting with nutritionists and their surgeons and nurses and I'm thinking how nice that would be. I'm hoping to see some of that Thursday.

You are in good hands with True Results. I go to TR in Austin. They have a nutritionist on staff if you have questions, call them & make a appointment with the nutritionist. You can meet with him/her anytime (separate from your fill appointment).

Also, the nurse practitioners (who will be doing your fill) are very knowledgeable about nutrition and can answer most of your questions.

The other thing I recommend is attending the monthly support meetings, you will get a lot of great suggestions and advise from the other patients.

    Good luck to you.

  10. You are so right on this. When I first got my band I kept a food journal. I recorded everything I ate, how I felt when I ate it, what was going on in my life, etc... From that journal I figured out my trigger points/foods and It has helped me manage my eating since.

  11. My band feels like a part of me, I call her my yellow rose. Some days she is a beautiful yellow rose (my favorite flower) and other days she shows her thorns (tight, not wanting to cooperate with me....) I have learned to listen to her, she tells me when to stop and not push it. She helped me loose 80 pounds in 10 months and is helping me maintain that loss.

You say that you already eat healthy, that will help you greatly. Changing your eating habits is one part of this process that the band can't do. We have to make good health choices of food, then the band steps in and helps keep us from feeling physically hunger for 3-4 hours.

Congratulations on making the decision to make yourself healthy.

  12. First, thank you to you & your husband for your service. Bless you!

The fact that you have not given up on yourself & your band is something to be proud of. You found your way here and this wonderful site will give you support, recommendations & ideas to help you get back on track.

I follow a 1200 calorie diet, I measure all my food, log everything on the MyFitnessPal app, drink 80 oz of Water a day and walk/climb stairs at least 30 minutes a day (I also garden on the weekends). If you have a nutritionist, I would recommend you seeing them to help you map out a good meal plan for you.I tend to eat high Protein (about 70 grams a day) and low-carbs.

Again, thank you to both you and your husband. I truly appreciate you both.

  13. Missy is right. It is very frustrating but worth it in the long run.

You said "if I only eat a half cup of food, I'll be hungry in like two hours", don't let your mind manipulate what will happen. If you think that then yes you will be hungry in two hours. When I was going through 'bandster hell" I focused on changing the type of foods I ate as well as the amount. In between meals I drank a bunch of Water and kept myself busy so I wouldn't think about food.< /span>

I still drink a lot of Water (about 80 ozs a day) and I keep myself busy (I'm a boredom eater).

The frustration will be worth it in the end.
