I've never authored a blog before. I'm not 100% sure what to write about or how often to post. I just know that keeping a journal works for me and I don't want a written one falling in a friend's hands before I'm ready to share. Quick Introduction: I'm a 28 year old female, recently moved to central Ohio. Been overweight my whole adult life, and became obese in college. It seems that every year I've gained more weight and everything that I've tried to do has failed because I can't lose any weight. I've been in a relationship for 2 1/2 years with a wonderful man, and until I moved we were doing the long distance thing. He knows I'm thinking about the getting the Lap Band, and he said he will support whatever decision that I make in the end. Now, what made me start thinking about the Lap Band? I want to explain this because at first I was 100% against any weight loss surgery. I thought it was the same as gastric with the stomach being stapled or cut. There are two people I know in my life that have had this surgery and one had so many complications that she has gone through 6 surgeries to correct those complications. The second went a little crazy and left her husband and started going out (couldn't think of a nicer way to phrase that). My parents were here and asked if I had ever thought of WLS as an option for me. I told them my feelings and then they started to talk about the Lap Band. This prompted me to start doing my research, and I am now interested in getting a Lap Band, but I have to start at the starting line, and a short wait until the free seminar to find more information. I did look at my insurance already, and it says that they will cover WLS to treat morbid obesity, which I qualify as. And I had to visit the ER earlier this month, so I only have $1,700 left for my deductible this year. I'm not sure how long this process will take, but I'm ready to take off. It is time for me to learn what patience really means because my free seminar which I'm calling Step 1, isn't until July 10th. I have another 9 days to wait...
