  1. I would definitely have a talk with your doctor. Also... just curious what size bites are you taking (try taking bites the size of your pinky nail) that's what I was told. Make sure you finish what your have in your mouth before you take your second or third bite. I really had to think about that step when I was first banded... but once I thought about it and slowed down my eating things really worked for me. I've never had an issue with being sick (fingers crossed). Please don't give up... I"m sure you and your doctor can get you back on track. It may be as simple as a small de-fill. Keep us posted. Good luck. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs tomander@bell.net
  2. Sorry to hear that. The band is not covered here in Canada. I was self-pay. WORTH every penny. Good luck Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs

  5. HI Lyn Take it one day at a time. I have no regrets at all. Don't compare yourself to others. The band can be different from person to person. I can eat ANYTHING except rice, apple skins and no carbonated beverages. I LOVE my band... it changed my life. If you any questions feel free to ask. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. 6. I had a lot of lose skin. I saw 4 plastic surgeons before I picked my doctor. I was told by all the doctors... if you lose 75 + pounds no matter how much exercise you do no cream or exercise will really help. I had 14 lbs of skin removed from my tummy and 8 lbs removed from my chest.. but the end results were WONDERFUL !!! I did put Vitamin E cream on the scars... didn't really make a difference... the scars look great. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs tomander@bell.net

  12. I love my band. I know several people that have had GB and have put the weight back on and have had many side effects. Two people in my coffee group have now gone with the band. I have no regrets at all... I can eat anything except rice, apple skins and no carbonated beverages. Best part besides weight loss is that my acid reflux went away 3 days after I got my band. I started with a 54" waist...now 32". Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs

  15. I was self-pay ($16,000) worth EVERY penny. I was banded a month before my 40th birthday. I had a complete physical a month before my surgery. My family doctor said I was a "healthy" fat person... for now. It was just a matter of time before every health problem hit me. The only thing I had was acid reflux. I suffered from it since I was 14. My AR went away 3 days after I got my band. If I had not lost 1 pound.. I would have still paid $16 K just to have my acid reflux go away. I was on 2 prescription meds and took at least 10 Ultra Tums a day. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs
  16. Great story !! Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs

  20. Some of the people in my coffee group have experienced this. Some suggestions... try not eating past 7:00 p.m. Drink a large glass of Water 2 hours before you go to bed. (Helps flush out the band. I suffered from acid reflux since I was 14. I was 39 when I was banded. My acid reflux went away 3 days after I was banded.... I lived on Tums and was on two prescription meds. I have not had ANY acid reflux in over 6 years. You may also want to try a tiny defil. I hope you get some relief. Good luck Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs
  21. I've been banded 6 years. The only thing my doctor said was not carbonated beverages... beer or Pop (soda). There was no restriction on alcohol. I was never much of a drinker pre-band. If it was REALLY hot day I would sometimes like a beer in a chilled mug... but i don't miss it at all. Now every so often I'll have a Baileys and coffee. I find alcohol hits me much faster. While I was losing I didn't go off my menu plan... (no extra treats) for basically 6 months... I was self pay so I really wanted to stick to my menu plan. Do the best you can and take it one day at a time. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs
  22. I used Collace when I was first banded. Very mild. Now I'm waiting for a hip replace and I take a pain med called Dilaudid. t I take 2 Collace every night a bedtime... works really well. Good luck ! Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs tomander@bell.net
  23. The breads, pastas (carbs) I do eat I try to make good choices like whole wheat Pasta. I also a love pita bread and thin bagels. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs tomander@bell.net
  24. I"m at goal... actually below goal. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs Started with a 54" waist now 32" tomander@bell.net
  25. Hi I've been banded 6 years. The only things I don't eat are rice and apples...and carbonated beverages. Rice and apples skins just feel strange going down so I avoid them. I've never been sick or choked with band. Try not to compare yourself with others. Don't go into this journey saying... I'll never be able to eat this or that ever again. Take tiny bites and make sure you finish what you have in your mouth before you take your second bite. I think a lot of new bandsters go into journey and think they will fail because they can no longer have their favourite foods. I love the band because I can still have my favourite foods (in moderation) and I don't feel like I missing out. The band is wonderful life long "tool" If you listen to your doctor and follow the menu plan guidelines the best you can and keep a food journal. The band can change your life. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. Tom, Toronto Banded July 6 06 Wt. Loss: 156 lbs tomander@bell.net
