  1. i was put on a diet while i did all my pre-op testing and such. when i was strict with it, i lost pretty quickly. i'm now on all liquids for 2 weeks because i'm having surgery on monday. i've lost 19 pounds. here's the diet in case you want... its strict and hard but it works! 1 shake for a meal (the shake should be low in carb and high in protein) like the atikins one... or muscle milk light) 2 meals daily: 20-30 g of fat 30-50 g of carbs 70+ g of Protein those include the shake and everything. i use myfitnesspal.com to calculate the totals. it works and it also helps in shrinking your liver for the surgery (which you need to do). hope this helps! sylvia
  2. best wishes to those on their journey! i'm getting banded in 6 days so i'm excited! the time leading up to the surgery while your doing all your tests and stuff goes by super fast! before you know it, you will be getting ready for surgery! so hang in there! i suggest getting used to eating a little healthier. i dunno if your surgeons put you on a diet or not (mine did... pretty strict... for the month or 2 before while i did everything), but its a good idea so you start getting used to it. i'm on all liquids right now (for 2 weeks pre-op) and it was good i eased into it! keep us updated!
  3. i'm scheduled to have my band surgery in 6 days! july 2! wishing you the best in your journey! the time from the consult to the surgery goes by super fast! sylvia

  10. Thanks for the encouragement for us...because I needed it! I had a horrible night last night with this liquid diet! Literally would go from Grumpy to crying for nothing! :-/ but my husband is sweet and patient and took me out of my funk! Woke up with new attitude for day 5!! Lets do it!
  11. hey! thats great! its nice to know when youre not the only one out there! i completely agree about it being more of a mental struggle! i dont feel that hungry really... but its like i WANT food (in contrast to NEED it). everywhere i look, there's food! i was joking with my friend that i feel like an addict on detox. literally. do you have to do 2 weeks of liquid afterward too?
  12. congrats!! sounds like you're working hard! whats your diet like? my dr is putting me on a 20-30 fat, 30-50 carb and 70 protein diet. is that similar to what you are doing?

  18. hi! i'm also scheduled for july 2! i just started my liquid diet 4 days ago. how's it going with it? i had a rough day yesterday but today i'm feeling a lot better. the afternoons are the worst though!
  19. hey fellow marylanders... just wanted to say hi! i'm having my surgery on july 2... are you guys already in post op? where did you have it done and who was your doctor?? sylvia
  20. thats really sad. i've felt that way, but from my own doing. i'm on the pre-op liquid diet right now and i was on the limited atkins type for a few weeks prior and when i went out, i felt a little out of place and even upset because i couldn't have what they were having... silly, i know! but no one else seems to mind! i have a birthday party coming up on sunday at one of my fav restaurants. when i told the bday girl about the liquids, she understood and even said that if i didnt feel like i wanted to go, it was ok. but not to worry about it either way. i decided i'm going to go anyway because i am going to have fun and talk and stuff with others. Even if i have to order water, put my crystal light in it and drink the broth from a soup there. the way my friend reacted makes me think that your friends are probably trying to be "supportive' by not tempting you by going out. but if you feel that you can go and still be faithful and have a good time... then i would definitely talk to them and let them know that you're cool with going and that you'll let them know if you feel like you dont want to. good luck!
  21. you look great!! who did the surgery?
  22. thats what i'm having to do too. i'm actually on day 4 of the pre-op liquids. so i have a ways to go! i'm trying to keep busy and not think about how long it will be and just think of getting through this day with liquid... and not worrying about the next. i'm also hoping this will help me lose some! lol. how much did you lose during those 4 weeks? also, at what point did you stop wanting real food? or did that want ever go away?? where you were like indifferent?
