Mz_Elle got a reaction from HELLO ITS ME CAMI in I Miss Food
My condolences on the end of your relationship with food. I too have found it extremely awkward to not be hungry or have cravings since my procedure. I've also been blessed with a relatively unremarkable post surgery status. I've had no real complications so far (5 days out).
I've never had anyone sum up what I've been feeling as succinctly as you've just said it.... "What I miss is using food as an antidote to sadness" and In my case.... What I miss is using food as an antodote to sadness and boredom.
    Thank you!
I'm putting my energies into exercise....I'm finding my daily walks to be very therapeutic for me. Tonight I didn't use my headsets either, I just walked the neighborhood with my thoughts and it was like I had a moment of me..... I feel cleansed....
After I reach the 6 weeks post op mark, I want to look into taking self-defense and a some dance classes that I've always wanted to do, but felt to body conscious about it pursue.
I think we substitute activities and re-invent our relationship with food as a necessity to stay healthy, but not as our friend and confidant (which it never should have been in the first place).
We just have to take it one day at a time...... Problems will always be there regardless of our weight. Stay strong... you seem like a powerhouse and you can do this!

I was told Biotin helps a lot. I started mine a few weeks ago. I'm 5 weeks post-op and I've not seen anything falling out. I have very thick hair and It has been my biggest asset over the years too. I don't want to lose my hair either!
I was also told that castor oil works on keeping hair healthy and conditioned. I tried putting it on my hair and it's working fine, BUT you must be warned to not let straight castor oil sit on your scalp. I thought I was HELPING myself by massaging it into my scalp and sitting under a dryer to let it "condition." Well for two days I was reaping all the benefits of castor oil induced voiding!
It was not nice. I thought I had the flu until I put it all together and realized what had happened! LOL. My husband laughed at me for a very LONG TIME about the mishap!
Note to self: Castor oil on the hair, not massaged into the scalp!

Thanks guys! Feeling better today. I've decided to go back to mostly liquids until I get through this patch. I'm only going to eat one true "meal" per day for a few weeks to see how it goes. I've also booked a spa day for 10/19 to celebrate my accomplishments.
I've also started looking for a new job and I"m happy to say I've gotten 3 interview requests in less than a week.

Hi - I haven't been sleeved so to a certain extent I will say that I don't know what I am talking about. But sometimes with low energy (generally from a medical perspective) it can be helpful to adjust your expectation of yourself during this period. For now, it might be tough to do all you used to do. That's okay - you've had major surgery. If you can adjust your expectation about what you're going to be able to do it might make it easier to cope. You'll be kinder to yourself, take more breaks and not push yourself to the "limit". Sure you still may struggle wtih low energy but it may not worry you quite as much.
I hope this is helpful Cheers, Lila

I don't think that it's going to help you to be freaked out. I would say, just accept yourself however you are, and be very happy and grateful that you got the weight off. That is the most important thing, to get the weight off. You can wear certain clothes to hide it if you do get lose skin, but loving yourself however you are is so important. If it's something you can't live with, then you can always have it surgically removed.
