  5. congrats on your weight loss! nobody apart from my hubby knows I've got a band. no one at work had said anything about my weight loss. I think that they are so used to me losing weight then putting it back on again that they dare not comment!! I've been saying like 'oh I don't half feel the cold since I lost some weight' then they'll say ' yeah you can see it in your face and everywhere' which is nice. But I bet they are expecting me to put it all back on again. Well, not this time!! I also believe that some people would like you stay fat so that your the 'fat friend' that makes them look better! Well, i WONT be your 'fat friend' anymore! ha ha that's it, rant over!! x
  6. I am fat because when it comes to food, I don't possess self control. yeah I could be on a diet and lose a couple of stone. But then I could have a stressful day at work and all i'd want to do is say" f*** it let's have a few beers" then order a massive takeaway!! (my husband is easily led in this! but he's not overweight) I still want to do this but now I physically can't. this band is the only thing in the whole world that will stop me from overeating. it is my saviour! sometimes I get frustrated when my husband is sitting there with a huge pizza covered in mayo (it smells so good!) and i'm sitting there with my soup! but after I think 'i'm glad I couldn't eat that now, all those calories!! the way I feel about food is changing.. i'm now eating to live, not living to eat. it's been tougher than I thought and I've got a way to go but i'm very excited about the future and the new, slimmer, happy me I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!
  7. I have eaten today.... a two egg omelette with a sprinkling of 30%lower fat cheese a pot of jelly which contained some raspberries it's now 6.30pm and i'm trying to be good!!!
  8. congratulations!!! enjoy your cruise x
  9. porridge pots are great, just add boiling water! keeps you full for a good while and low fat. If you are really hungry you can add half a chopped banana to it, yummy x
  10. thanks guys. I must have irritated my stomach I think. going to be very careful for next few days or weeks. it will be the first time ive ever LOST weight over Christmas!!! long may it last x
  11. is it possible that the more weight you lose the tighter you're band can become???????? my last fill was over 2 months ago, felt restriction but it seems to be getting more and more. has anyone else experienced this? is it all good or should I be worried? would be very grateful for replies x
  12. hi I am experiencing the same kind of thing. my last fill was 2 months ago. I felt restriction but not a great amount. ive now lost 52lb and my band feels tighter. I can only eat soup, porridge or mashed foods. im just wondering if its possible that the more weight you lose the tightness of the band can increase? seems strange to me.. would appreciate your thoughts on this, thanks x
  13. hi i was banded in march this year. i'd fogotten about the angst before hand. i'm sure everyone feels anxious before their surgery. on the count down to my surgery i was a wreck. 50% totally excited about my new life and 50% terrified something would go wrong. and on the day it was hell coz my op wasnt til 8.30pm and all i could have was water!! all i can say is i have no regrets. would i do it again? 10 times over. i felt a bit selfish getting a loan to pay for it, but why? im the one paying it back. its only money and money cant compete with quality of life. its an investment on your healthy future! best of luck to you x
  14. hi,at first i thought he was scared for you having surgery. but then i felt that he just sounds incredibly insecure. men dont really like change. some very insecure men like to keep their women overweight so no other men will look at them. at the end of the day youve got to do this for yourself. if he can't deal with that, its his problem.. be strong and do what's right for you.. go for it!! x
  15. have a glass wine, turn the lights of and enjoy!!!
  16. could you be allergic to something in the dressing? i had red square marks where my dressings had been for two months after op! well weird lol
  17. I have noticed it too. i dont know why it happens, maybe the band relaxes lol
  18. its to do with swallowing too much air. With the band, the air goes down as its not easily burped up. so you may get uncomfortably full of air..
  19. some people on here saying about telling a spouse or partner. i cant see how the hell you could keep it from your partner. physically i couldnt have done. I could hardly walk around for two or three days. i think my husband would have noticed somehow! as for work and friends.. told them i had flu so they stayed away!!
  20. I only told my husband. it can be a lonely journey. sometimes i wish i could talk about it with other people but i dont want to be judged. its no-one elses business. i funded every penny of it myself with a loan that i'm still going to be paying in 2 years time! but i see it as worth every penny and i have no regrets. i feel that only people who have actually gone through this can truly understand. the good and bad.highs and lows.its good to have this website to turn to..
  21. i was exactly the same. i made sure that i was bmi 40 next time i went and slouched a little when the nurse checked my height.probably shouldnt say that but i was desperate. and i have no regrets.
  22. hi the experiences im having with getting food stuck is not really scary, just bloody annoying! i sit down with a healthy something to eat, two mouth fulls in it gets stuck.by the time ive sorted my self out and feel ready to continue, the food is cold and horrible.in the end i just admit defeat and give it to the dog!! the dog is gonna need a band at this rate! when you have to be sick, theres no heaving as such.its like saliva builds up on top of the stuck food, then you just know youve got to get to the loo.. sometimes just the saliva comes back up or saliva and food. it kind of crawls out (gross) no heaving, no noise, no pain, just inconvenient. i hope this helps, good luck with your surgery
