Have you checked to see if you are losing inches. Remember muscle weighs more than fat. So if you are building muscle you may gain weight. How do your clothes feel and fit. That is always a good judge. I have been trying to walk everyday so I do not lose muscle.

I have been on pureed food since last Wednesday. I grilled a chicken breast then put it in my blender with some chicken stock. It tasted good. I have also pureed a hamburger in beef stock. Also a stuffed bell pepper with tomato sauce. So far so good. Two more days and then I am on soft foods. I can also eat scrambled eggs. only 1 egg at a time.

Dani, Cancelling the surgery is not an awful decision especially having 2 young children. I have come to the realization that this program is an atkins on steriods. You may want to look into weight watchers, that way you can eat normal food but just the correct portions and incorporate exercise into your life and you will lose the extra weight. I was an extreme example I weighed 361 when I started and have heart disease in my family. I need to lose 160 lbs, but if you need to lose 50-60 you can do it on your own. Stay focused and do it for your kids, your hubby, and most of all do it for yourself. We will always be here for you. I am glad Dr. Washington doesn't sugar coat things he is an honest man and he wants the best for you. Good luck on your journey. If you ever need support you can always come back for a shoulder to lean on.

I got my cytomax from the Vitamin shoppe if there is one near you go in they reduced the stock that they had on the shelves because of a new packaging by the company. So I got my bottles for 1.89 a piece instead of 4.00 a piece. I use the tropical and the watermelon. Like I said it takes me all day to drink the bottle of cytomax and Powerade. I just bought some more powerade yesterday at walmart no calories and has Vitamins and electolites.

Need To Start Walking...having Trouble Getting Started
Jafter replied to Alexandra39's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Get started now it is good for your heart, your lungs, your overall body muscles. Remember you are doing this for you and the more you walk the better you will feel. Take it at your own pace, this week I started walking down the block and then to the other end of the block, I was home for the first day after surgery. Now at day 6 after surgery I am walking around the block 3 times and will try and do that multiple times a day. I am still off from work so I want to make it a part of my routine when I do go back to work next Wednesday. The pounds will come off the more you walk and your muscles will stay strong. You can do it. I know you have depression but being in the sun will be good for that smelling the fresh air. Your neighbors will be good to see you and they will be impressed that you are out in the neighborhood and getting healthier. -
Craving Smooth Egg Salad Or Great Deviled Eggs.. Help!
Jafter replied to 4ALongerLife's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
You can also add a teaspoon of dijon if you like that flavor also (just reduce the salt). I am looking forward to week three diet. I am on Day 6 post op and am getting tired of 4 weeks of protien shakes Any tips for creamed Soups I have never had one before. -
Had Surgery 4/19/12, Looking For A Buddy.
Jafter replied to MamaG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try something that does not have milk in it. I can not have milk until Thursday. I was just sleeved on the 18th. I am on cytomax (protien drink & gatorade) I drink them very slow 1 ounce every 15 minutes. It takes me all day to get my 20 ounces of protiens and 32 ounces of powerade. -
Next Week Sleevers ? Or Anyone Whom Are Upcoming April Sleevers?
Jafter replied to EnjoyingWhoIAmBecoming's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 2 days I had 2 little 2 ounce plastic cups one with Powerade and the other with cytomax (protien drink). I would sip one and then from the other. I also had 2 rocks glasses full with cold powerade and cytomax. It takes me all day but I get in my liquids and my protien. Just alternate from one to the other it makes it easier to get down. By day 3 I just have 2 glasses one with my protien drink and then one with powerade. Keep them cold. I just keep adding ice. -
My routine for the first week was to drink a bottle of Powerade (sugar free) you can use G3 (Gatorade) and then a bottle of cytomax (40 grams of protien) So I am getting my 40 grams of protien and over 50 ounces of liquids. I am also walking more. I started walking up and down my block and have now worked up to walking around the block. I went to Dr. Washington's office yesterday to get my firs post op weigh in and to have my drain removed. (Ouch). I lost 13 lbs from last Tuesday. My stitches are healing well and as mentioned in other threads don't look at the drain being removed. It was very tender all day. I layed low all day yesterday. So sorry I did not get on sooner. Good luck to everyone going in this week. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and I will think of you this week.

Sorry everyone I just have not been on my computer, I am doing great. I went to the hospital last Wed at 5:45am I was the first surgery of the day for dr Washington. I was in the operating room at 8am and out cold 8:01 LOL. I remember waking up in the recovery room and Dr. Washington came in and said that everything went great. I was groggy from the anthesia but pretty coherent. They wheeled me up to my room very nice to have a private room. (All rooms in Conway hospital are private). The nurses were very nice and attentive. (Sometimes it may take them a little time for them to come to the room when you need them.) They are working on multiple patients. Remember you not going to be able to eat or drink until the next day. My mouth was so dry I was dying. They give you these frozen swabs with a little moisture in them ask for them and a cool compress. The nurses will have you hooked up to ivs for nurishment and dehydration. The first day I had the shoulder pain and the pain in my abdomen from the procedure nothing to bad. I also had nausea they will give you medicine for that. They will get you up walking it really helps relieve the pressure Luckily Thursday morning came by quick and they had me do the leak test around 8-8:30. It is not as bad as they say. Kinda wild to watch the x ray as you drink the liquid. I passed the test and was finally able to drink some Water. YEAH!!!!!!!! I sat in the chair in the room for a good part of the day more comfortable than the chair. I also did laps in the hallway walking around was good to get the blood moving. Plus helps from getting blood clots. MOVE YOUR FEET even when laying in bed and also breathe deep and cough so you do not get pneumonia. Dr. Washington came by around a few times and he let me go home on Thursday night. (I had a good friend stay with us who is a RN so that helped). You dont get much rest in the hospital since they check you vitals every 4 hours. I will start another box.

I drank 3 doubles a day but do what is best for you. If you want 3 as meals and 2 as Snacks do it that way. I recommend using water and crushed ice and putting it in a blender tastes like a milk shake. I was on that for 3 weeks and did pretty well on it.
-
Great to hear I had my surgery on Wednesday. Lucklily all my tests were clear my doc asked if I wanted to stay an extra night and I said no thank I wanted to go home and get some rest. Luckily a very good friend of mine is a RN and she is staying the weekend with us. So I have a nurse at my house for the weekend if anything happens. My doctor also gave me his cell number in case anything happens. Ok big man lets get through this together. Let's do this the safe and healthy way.

Next Week Sleevers ? Or Anyone Whom Are Upcoming April Sleevers?
Jafter replied to EnjoyingWhoIAmBecoming's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bad Request There was an error in your request. (none) Drink lots of fluids I make a pitcher of crystal light (or any type of sugar free kool aid) and a pitcher of Water. I alternate drinking one then the next one. I get in about a gallon of water in a day. I have given up sodas for the most part for about 2 months now. I have one every now and then but try and stay away from it. When I get hungry I drink a glass or water or crystal light. If I am still hungry I drink a teaspoon of pickle juice or banana pepper juice to give me some flavor. It is not that bad and it wont hurt you. Be strong remember we need to get out livers as small as possible so the doctor has plenty of room to work. -
How Soon Until You Can Drive, Mow The Lawn, Light Housework?
Jafter posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering how long do you have to wait until you can drive, mow the lawn, or do some things around the house. I know the first couple of days you have to rest try and get up about every 2 hours and walk around a bit. But how long until you can actually do stuff. I think I will go crazy just sitting and watching tv or in front of my computer. I am getting sleeved on Wednesday and was just curious. I have taken off 2 weeks from work to recover and then the 3rd week I will be working half days. HELP. -
Thanks Future, I am getting nervous just trying to get everything done.

Next Week Sleevers ? Or Anyone Whom Are Upcoming April Sleevers?
Jafter replied to EnjoyingWhoIAmBecoming's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to everyone of us this month who is having surgery. I am scheduled to have my surgery first thing Wednesday morning. I have to be at the hospital at 5:45 am. Hopefully I will be home on Thursday night around 5pm. I am nervous looking forward to eating real food again. I have been on 3 weeks of protien shankes I will know my exact weight tomorrow when I go in for my final weigh in. What Multivitamins is everyone going to take after surgery. I am going to buy some tomorrow night. I need to call everyone in my family just to give them an update. Hopefully this time on Wednesday I will be in recovery or in my room. -
Thank you Mimi, getting a little nervous I just wanted it over. 2 more days. I am trying to finish up all of my duties at work. I cleaned up my clothes closet (sorted all of my clothes by size). I have clothes from size 5x to 2 x and pants from size 60 to 46. So luckily I will not have to buy clothes for a while. Thank God mens jeans, khakis, shorts, and polo shirts dont go out of style. Tonight I have to mow the lawn and get my guest room set up for me.

The whole staff at Dr. Washington's office is great. I started my journey with him last March and was going to do the lap band but after weighing all of my options I am going with the sleeve. The endoscopy is no problem just take the whole day off of work when you do it. I was a bit loopy that afternoon. Hopefully this time next week I will be in the recovery room of Conway Hospital. My surgery is scheduled for the 18th I have to be at the hospital at 5:45 am I am the first to go which is good to do it and get it over with. You can do the pre-op diet I am on for 3 weeks instead of 2 because he wants me to lose as much weight as possible before my surgery. All of my excess weight is in my stomach and he wants my liver to be as lean as possible and he wants as much room as possible to work with. Dr Washington will show you the tools that he uses when you meet him and yes he uses staples. Well I am trying to get everything done here at work this week. He recommends taking 3 weeks off after surgery. I am taking 2 full weeks and then working half days for the 3rd week. It is not so bad since I work from home. Also the Vitamin shoppe has good prices on protien shakes I bought the powder to make them at home and if you spend over 50.00 there is no shipping fee. The premade shakes I bought at Sams Club for 25.00 for 18 or 20 shakes. I also just ordered the unjury chicken Soup and protien powder to mx into crystal light or Jello. I am getting anxious to have the surgery over. Looking forward to the next adventure. I wish us all success in our new journey. Anyone know what NSV means I wish they had a glossary of terms on here.

A Little Trick To Spruce Up Protein Shakes
Jafter replied to ChristineS NY's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I also find that if you make your protien shake in a blender instead of just shaking it up in one of those plastic tupperware cups they come out very light and very easy to drink. I am on a 3 week protien shake diet and it has been easier for me to drink them when I use the blender. 12 oz of water 2 scoops of protien powder and a half of cup of crushed ice. Fills up a big cup and a half it is so light. Same amount of protien and calories. -
Does Anyone Have An April 20Th Date?
Jafter replied to sashadee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You will be fine, I am right ahead of you on the 18th. I am having my surgery done in South Carolina just outside of Myrtle Beach. Luckily for me I live right around the corner from the hospital. I am trying to get all of my ducks in a row at work as I head into my final week of work. I am doing my best drinking my protien shakes and avoiding food. Damn they show a lot of food commercials on TV. I think there are a few others right around both of our surgery dates check the role call for April. Good Luck and I will have a prayer for you as well as a couple for myself LOL. -
8000.00 Self Pay In The Us!
Jafter replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr, Washington is a really good surgeon and I like that he does not sugar coat things he tells you the ups and downs straight up. He will be performing my surgery on April 18th. I have insurance, one of the reasons for the discounts is he is trying to build his practice down here in South Carolina. He needs to have 125 surgeries to become a center of excellence in many insurance company's minds. He had that in New Jersey and has been in the weight loss surgery areana for over 20 years. Conway is about 13 miles from Myrtle Beach. So I wish you luck with getting a good price they also offer financing through their office. I saw some brochures on the receptionists desk. His office is in Conway hospital and all of their rooms are private rooms. They also offer monthy support groups the next support group is on April 17th. -
I wish you the best of luck we are going through this together. I am also being sleeved on the 18th and am a little nervous like everyone going into surgery. I am on week 2 of 3 weeks of a pure protien shake diet to get my liver as small as possible, and to get my body and mind ready for the surgery. I have been trying to walking every day or every other day to get my more weight off and to build up my lung capacity. I am 5'11 360 at the start of this, I have a doctors appt this morning so I will figure out what I weigh when I go in. We can do this we just have to be positive and diligent.
-
One week down with the pre-op diet and down 12lbs . Get a variety of flavors for your shakes. That helps so you are not drinking the same thing day after day. I ordered my protien shakes from the vitamin shoppe online and got a good deal. 2 more weeks to go.

Carnie Wilson On The Today Show This Morning
Jafter replied to something2think's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for shaing that clip and it is a reminder that this is just a tool. I (can't speak for everyone else), know that there are issues that make me eat and if I dont change those things in coordination with exercise, and watching what I put into my body I may be right back where I am today. Overweight, diabetic, with sleep apnea, and a family history of heart disease so if I don't change I will not be around much longer. So I am glad Carnie is a positive force for all of us who have our demons and hopefully it will make us stronger. We all have to be positive and things will get better stay with the program. I know it is hard I am starting my 2nd week of pre -op dieting and am down 12 lbs and have 2 more weeks to go drinking protien shakes but I look at myself and say you have to do it. For no one else but myself.
