Kink Repair Follow Up~
I went in for my kink repair yesterday. It turned into a full port and tubing replacement. Once in the site, the doc noticed that the "kink" wasn't bad enough to cause the Fluid to not be taken out as easily as he would like. He blamed the port and replaced both. This surgery wasn't as "big" as the installation of the band iteself. I am feeling ok today other than port site discomfort. As discouraged as I was about having to "repair" something, I am so glad the issue was caught early and repaired quickly so that I can continue my weight loss journey. I could have gotten really upset and discouraged about this but I didn't. I had a very positive attitude and fully understood that sometimes these things happen. I hoped it wouldn't happen to me...but honestly....it is fine. Why not me? I still have some fill in (doc said just as much as I did before port replacement) but I feel a little less tight. No worries there either, I go in for a follow up in a week and if I need a fill I am sure I will get one. Thank you all for all the well wishes. I am sharing this info just to be informative....not to be negative. I am one that like's having ALL the info and potential problems laid out for me. Perhaps if someone else has to go through this....please know that it really is no big deal. Of all the potential problems.....this is a blessing. Happy Friday!

Learning how to eat with the band
I agree with all of the above. Just when I thought I was eating slow enough and chewing well enough....I got my second fill and have been reminded (all over again) to eat slower and chew more and take smaller bites! It's all part of the journey!

Confused/advice please
Getting under the 200 pound mark is a huge goal for me. I am almost there (I can taste it)! So congrats on that amazing milestone. For me, if I have soup for dinner (lots of sodium)...the scale goes crazy. Sometimes up 3 pounds. The next day I just try and get more water in and after a few days...the scale thanks me. Do not worry.....take a deep breath and continue doing your band friendly things!

Struggling More Than Ever...
One day at time sweetie! Sometimes...it takes one meal at a time. It's painful sometimes....it gets us angry......it makes us sad. But "my way" was NOT working. It just made me fat. Giving up CONTROL was the only way through. I submit to the process every single day. For me...it's not about perfection but effort. If I bring that effort every single day.....I will transform. Stay positive...be nice to yourself!

Anxiety Eating pre-surgery
If it makes you feel any better. Even if i pushed the limits (which I wouldn't)...my band with the current fill I have couldn't possibly eat close to that. I may have gotten through a half of that turkey sandwich and a dessert (if I ate slowly and took small bites and didn't get stuck) and then my soft or hard stop would remind me that I was "done"! I had these fears too...what if I eat right through the band? I'm sure it can be done. But with a properly adjusted band...there is no way. My head might get upset about this sometimes...but my body is in charge now! Good luck with your surgery!

Kink Repair~
Going in tomorrow to repair a kink in my tubing. We mull over all the complications that can arise and hope and pray one doesn't happen to you. But this is something that was out of my control apparently. Trying to find a positive spin....the complication could be so much more problematic! This should be an easy fix. Please send good thoughts and energy my way. Thanks

No more fills for me....
I understand this as well. No magic fairy dust in the "green"...just continue on doing what we are doing. How anti-climactic (wink)!

A confession
Oh sweetie! How brave of you to post this "behaivor". Stop looking at is as BAD or FAILED...it's a behaivor that needs some attention and you shined a light on it. It's part of us...the journey. Today is a new day to be conscious of it. Big hugs to you.
-
I feel gross.
You recognized the behaivor as "not good" and your body responded to it by feeling ill. Dust it off...learn from the trigger.....and make a different choice next time. No need to panic.

Getting back on track
Congrats on your weight loss. It's very impressive. You only gained back 60. Maybe it's time to go back to the basics? Log your food again, start drinking more Water, etc....visit with your doctor..maybe you can use a fill? Good luck!

Energy level
My energy was restored with a small amount of weight loss. I really have so much more energy now than I have had in years! It's a nice feeling.

It looks like....
Yes. Thank you. I hope so too!
-
It looks like....
Yes but under sedation rather than full anesthesia. They go into the large port incision and literally pull at the tubing until it unkinks itself. Blech....trying to keep positive. I know these things can happen......they just seem to happen to me.

Back and Forth
I too was nervous about the surgery (in general) but I also knew the Lapband was definitley for me. Take some time to research and soul search. You'll know once it all comes together. Good luck!

Surgery Today!!
Congrats! See you on the other side.

It looks like....
I'm going to have to get the kink in my tubing fixed afterall. I went in for my second fill today and they could get the fill IN...just not out. I had the same problem during my first fill and they put me under flouroscopy and saw where it looked like the tubing was kinked. Today the doc said he wants to fix it. Maybe as early as this Thursday! I will let you know how it goes. I asked the doc if it was something I did to myself or didn't do...and he said NO...that sometimes your body heals and the tubing just moves. Received 1cc in the band today.

shocked at the changes
I didn't see the weight loss progress until a friend of mine put some side by side pics together for me. Then I was floored. Not because of how much smaller I looked but because how much bigger I was. For me, I didn't think I was as BIG as I was. Our mind has to catch up. I feel more myself at this size than I ever did being bigger!

I got approved today ! ! ! !
Yay! Congrats!

1 year later pic

Love / Hate
Most days I do my part...some days I question. For me...it's about the effort I bring everyday and hope at the end of the day it brings me closer and closer to my goal. Great post...thanks for sharing.
