  1. Great analogy. And I agree. We all need a little of both sometimes. Thanks for this post.
  2. Great post! For me.....it's just part of the perscription of weight loss. I got approved for the band by insurance...and my contribution is exercise. I have also realized the side benefits of exercise (not just the weight loss benefit). I sleep better, I am less cranky, my digestive system works better, I am not as moody, I have more energy, oh...did I mention that I am not as cranky ?
  3. I agree with the rest. You were pretty before. But Holy Cow Batman....Look at those gorgeous eyes now! Congrats on all your success.
  4. Thank you for this! A powerful reminder.
  5. I am sorry you didn't feel supported by your doctors office. I agree with the above. This is the time for healing and weight loss won't happen until later. And for me...that is "slowly". Be good to yourself and keep doing what your doing.
  6. It is smart to research and learn about this procedure as much as you can. It is not for everyone and make sure you talk to your surgeon about all your concerns (including hubby's). In fact...take him with you so that he too can have all the facts and info. Good luck to you.
  7. Be patient with yourself sweetie! 2 weeks post op is still the healing phase. Weight loss will come later. Congrats on your vacation!
  8. My body is the boss now too! Even when my head doesn't agree. Congrats on your 5th fill. I hope it's a GREEN one!
  9. Yay you! Congrats. Welcome to the other side. Take this time to heal...be good to yourself.
  10. My doc originally said no snacking as well. At my first fill appointment, I told him how hungry I was between meals, how exercise is playing a part in this, how I can keep within my daily calories, etc. He agreed and actually told me that he would rather me spread out the calories if I need to then to overeat at mealtime and/or eat too fast. Just communicate your issues and they will find a way to make it work for you.
  11. No Fluid came out of my tubing either and the Doc did give me an xray and founf there was a "bend" in the tubing and thought it may move and rectify itself. However, although he didn't panic....he did seem concerned that if it didn't rectify itself...he would need to go back in and do it. He was concerned enough. I would talk more to your surgeon about this. Good luck!
  12. Why not wear heels, ride a rollercoaster, and have energy at the same time? I may have to make this a "weight loss bucket list" item! Congrats! Good luck on your journey!
  13. I agree with previous posts. For me, I was 100% ready. I had done my research.....interviewed surgeons....spoke to other bandsters.......applied the science to my own issues, problems, etc. Soul searched...to make sure this was the right option for me. By the time I told my family members and friends.....they had concerns but knew I was ready and they knew I was ALL in. I didn't feel judged at all......but I did when I was bigger...for sure. I don't tell everyone.....not because of the judgement...maybe because of the timing of the conversation. I am not ashamed......I am empowered and proud to have done this for myself! Good luck on your journey!
  14. Yes I am! Thanks for the reminder.

Nice post! I never really dissected the change in my brain but that is exactley what is happening to me as well. The other day I had a fruit smoothie for breakfast (this was only because I had zero time to cook protein) but when I got to lunch....I was not only famished....I actually said to myself, "oh boy...I need some protein". Not even sure when that switch happened. Thanks for making me aware of the change! Yay us!
  16. Give them something to talk about girl! Go'head with your bad self!
  17. On more than several occassions, I have received the same remark. "You are not big enough for wls". Really? How big do I have to be? My weight had me in a morbidly obese range, pre-diabetic, and other co-morbidities were creeping in. If those are not BIG enough reasons...I am not sure what are.

I am my worst enemy as well. I relate to your post more than you know. I am an "all or nothing" girl. My husband remarked that he has noticed that I have a more balanced approached to my journey this time. Where I am not at the gym everyday and hate myself on the days I don't go, etc. I have to have balance, I have to approach this as a lifetime goal, I have to be happy with myself today! Today I wish you peace and acceptance of yourself and pride in your amazing success!
  19. Thank you for this! You have been a great mentor and support. Lately, I have woken up everyday and say in the mirror. "Look at how far you have come! Be happy about that today."
  20. Congrats on taking back your life! I related to alot of what you said. Lots of the same reasons I was banded as well. I turned 40 this past December and I said that I would not wait another year to get the help. I call this year Transformation 40! And it has already proved to be successful! Keep this great attitude and you will do fine. Congrats again.
  21. Yes....very normal. Make sure you are drinking tons of water too.
  22. My reality check came when I had to decide to be happy and proud of my progress TODAY! I can't look at how much more weight I need to lose. That could be "forever" from now. I have to be proud of where I am right now. Because it's a long way from where I began. And when I started this, I didn't think I could lose 5 pounds and keep it off.... Congrats on where you are today! And the progress you have made on the journey!
  23. I learned alot on pre-op....that I am stronger than I thought. Post op choices just seem easier to make. Congratulations!
