From what I have read about, and been told around 2 weeks (give or take a few days) the port area becomes very sore. If it drains pus, becomes more red or swolen notify your surgeon you make have an infection.

Just received my passport today! Going to San Diego Aug. 27th for surgery in Mexico Aug 28th! It's starting to seem a little more real lately. I have EVERYTHING arranged and bought that I need for the trip. Got my flights scheduled about a month ago, round trip from Western Ky. was only 333.00! i thought it would be alot pricier. When my best friend bought her ticket 1 week later it had already gone up to 460.00! Glad I bought the tickets when we did. No telling what they are now. I'm just ready to go and do this!!! i'm excited about the trip just by itself, but it's awesome I get to take the trip and have a life changing event along with it....I've been reading my Bandwagon book trying to gain as much knowledge as possible before I go. It has alot of information in it. Just a waitin'....

First i'll say than I'm proud of ALL of the post-bandsters. I'm proud you made this life-changing decision and are doing it! But.... I'm so envious I can hardly stand myself. My date is August 28th 2012 and it can't get here soon enough for me. I'm reading these posts and am soooo inspired by all of you. Keep up the pace in your journey, take care, and of course congratulations...

Awesome post! I too will be thankful once I lose the weight and start running again. I plan to run in atleast one marathon someday. I couldn't run across the street now without becoming very winded.... Thanks for your touching post...

Dr Almanza-reyes in tijuana mexico is doing my surgery. DR. swain is doing my follow up/fills here in Ky.

I'm having surgery with dr. almanza-reyes in Mexico, in august, he has a 300.00 policy which covers ANY complications, including airline flights, motel rooms etc, for 6 months. For 500.00 it covers you for a year. I'm doing the year policy... Just in case...

I wont miss not being able to wear 75% of the clothes in my closet. I won't miss people asking me when my baby is due.... I won't miss being hot all the time. I won't miss wishing I looked good in this or that while shopping. I won't miss my legs, feet and back hurting all the time...

I've heard that this is pretty normal as the incisions heal.

I don't know if it's really hot where you're living, but it is deathly hot here in western Ky. It could be you're dehydrated. Get you some gatoraid and sip, sip, sip!

Just received my Band Wagon book today. It's pretty informative. I also filled out my history papers for Dr. Swain for my post op care/fills. Seems like the day will never get here! Buddy, my husband, is out west on the motorcycle, the kids are all staying here with me. Been trying to get some sun on my body, tried to go to lake the other day but it rained. So i guess I'll just stay pale. Just trying to pass the time. I'm on this site probably 75% of the day, just trying to find someone who's going to my surgeon on the same day. I even got on verticlesleevetalk.com to try to find someone. Thought I had found someone on there but then I lost her and couldn't find her again. I'm just ready to go and get the rest of my life started. We're going to add a porch/new roof/carport this fall to the house i'm ready to get on with that as soon as my husband and I both get back from our trips... We have alot going on. I start dayshift at my nursing job tomororrow morning. I've gained 30 lbs. since going on nights 8 mo. ago. though dayshift would aid in my wt. loss. It's hard to know when to eat working nights, and I haven't been sleeping enough. Also when all of this is over i'm going to finish nursing school. I have 5 classes to go (online) then clinicals to complete my BSN in nursing. I've been working on it for 10+ years and have to finish it this year. I HAVE to!!! Otherwise alot of money will go down the drain. Not just in wages, but the cost of college will be wasted.Well, I'm "just a waitin!). Gotta go ....
