  12. Well it's been 36 hours since I completely stopped smoking. I'm using Chantix and it is really helping. I'm not having cigarette cravings at all. I sometimes find myself looking for my cigarettes out of habit ( i use to lose them ALL the time), but I don't feel like i NEED a cigarette anymore. I'm using electronic cigarettes to help with having to do something with my hands, but i'm not puffing on it alot. I just hold it, and i used suckers at work yesterday. I;m surprised how well the med is working. I don't know how it works really, (ive read how it works), but it does work. Well, it's 17 days until surgery, it's finally becoming more real to me that this is really going to happen.I can't wait. I'm not nervous about the procedure, but just excited to get it done and start losing weight. I registered for a half-marathon to be held in Paducah may 11 2013! I bought new running shoes, clothes and a sports watch to monitor heartrate/distance etc... I'm going to start tonight on walking then eventually running again. Running for me is very therapeutic mentally as well as physically. I said i was going to replace the smoking with running. I always have to have something to obsess over. It's just how i am. I don't "exercise" but I am a runner by nature. It's a free feeling for me once I get past the burning in my chest and pain everywhegotre because i'm in TERRIBLE shape now. Well, i'll go thanks for reading my jumbled thoughts!
  13. congratulations to:MsGirl1271, Pheath & , tomosia hope everything is going okay for you all!!!
  14. Didn't realize this was a winter soup, I just thought it sounded good. But I figure by the time some of us are ready for chunky soup it will be fall anyways... If anyone has any other recipes to share we could start a recipe topic on here...
  15. The following recipe for Chunky Winter Soup is one of my favourites for lunch on a cold winter day.Chunky Winter SoupMakes 4 cupsOil spray½ onion1 small or ½ large leek, thinly sliced2 cups salt reduced chicken stock1 small or ½ large zucchini, diced1 small or ½ large carrot, diced1 cup no added salt, chopped tinned tomatoes½ teaspoon curry powder1 tablespoon no added salt tomato pasteFreshly ground black pepper2 tablespoons macaroni1 cup cooked red kidney beansHeat a saucepan that has been sprayed with oil. Add onion and leek and cook until they are starting to soften. Add the stock, carrot, zucchini, tomatoes, curry powder, tomato paste and season with pepper. Bring to the boil then simmer for 20 minutes, until vegetables are tender. Add macaroni and kidney beans and simmer for a further 15-20 minutes until the macaroni is cooked.
  16. 44 pounds is quite an accomplishment and in 6 months. I think that's about average. You've lost an average of 1.8lbs per week. That's not bad. Just make good food choices and exercise more and it'll speed up. You've done great I think. Be patient with yourself. 2lbs per week is what I hear is about average wt. loss with the band Keep it up!!! You're doing awesome!.
