If You Had The Choice - Would You Do It Again?
- If You Had The Choice - Would You Do It Again?
I would do it again in a heartbeat! It's the best thing I EVER did for myself...even through the nausea and first few weeks are hard, but it all passes...at least for me it has. I'm 50 pounds down and Thursday will be 7 weeks (lost 17 pre-op diet). I only wish I did it sooner! Best of luck!- August Sleeves?!
Sleeved 8/2. Pre-op diet started at 350. Lost 17 on pre-op, down 33 since surgery for a total of 50. This Thursday will be 7 weeks. Just in the last week I have been able to take more water in, like a regular size drink, which is so nice, but I still have super dry mouth all the time! I'm on regular food, but stick to all high protein foods...eggs, cottage cheese, protien shakes, chicken breast, turkey, soft cheeses, steamed veggies with sprinkled cheese...I can eat bread with a sandwich but only a few bites. My tummy can not handle ANY raw veggies or salad. For the people struggling with weight, switching things up has helped my stalls....eat 2 days higher carbs and then 2 days lower (no more than 20 grams) carbs...this keeps your body burning . I have not been exercising but I REALLY need to start...I'm starting to notice soft skin . Good luck to all!!!!- Guzzling?
Plus it's painful when I take too much in....- Surgery 9/4 & Hard Vein From Iv
I had the same thing!!!....I was sleeved on 8/2. At first it was about an inch long, hurt really bad and hard..... I did a warm compress and it helped. Eventually the pain goes away, but I still have a little hard bump 7 weeks later...but it continues to get smaller. My dr. said it was nothing to worry about and it will go away Hope this helps!- Salad?
I agree....salad didn't go well at week 6....it's the worst I've felt eating anything.... I'll give it another couple weeks, mahybe even a month, before I try again!- Pinch Me Please?
That is so awesome! Congrats!- The Good, the Bad,the Ugly, & The Absolutely Terrifying!
Best thing I EVER did for myself. Yes, the first few days, even first 2 weeks is just different. I have never had surgery before this, so I really didn't know what to expect. It was much better than I anticipated as far as pain and getting around. You will have discomfort and I think the most difficult is just learning how to eat again. I'm almost 6 weeks and almost each day brings something new. In my opinion, the horror stories you hear on here about people hating it or wishing they could go back, are dealing (again, my opinion) with the emotional aspect of not being able to turn to food, The vice is taken away....now what? How do I cover up this pain or deal with it? I did suffer a little depression around week 3, but it was fleeting. I have never had the feeling that I wish I didn't do it. I am so HAPPY every single day that I feed myself for nutrition and nothing else, but I was also very ready to give up the food and have never wanted something more. It almost doesn't seem real to KNOW the weight is going to come off....it's a strange feeling sometimes. I do consider myself lucky in that I had no complications, expect that the pain meds in the hospital did not agree with me and I had to stay an extra night....that was the worst part of my entire experience. The only other thing I can think of is the energy level....you have to get in the protein and make sure you feed and hydrate yourself throughout the day. People do end up dehydrated and honestly that seems pretty easy to do considering how little you can take in at first. Each day gets better and like I said, I don't regret 1 single second. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!- Halloween Contest October 31 2012
Weighing in.... Down 4lbs this week! 55 pounds more to go by Halloween. I know it's a big goal, but ladies I got A LOT to lose! Weighing in on Saturdays.- How To Break A Stall
There's lots of posts on here about stalls...my experience...add more calories/fat/carbs to your diet...or carb cycling. Your body has gotten used to what you're doing- Has Anyone Tried Zero Carb Isopure?
Do you order Isopure online? I can't find anywhere in stores...- Halloween Contest October 31 2012
Weight before surgery: 350 Date of surgery: August 2, 2012 Current weight: 309.2 Goal weight for competition: 250 Let's DO THIS people! Good luck everyone!- Not Eating And Gaining...
It will get better I promise! I put on a TON of weight because of your exact situation and I let it get the better of me. You now have this amazing tool to use and not gain weight but lose it. Although you really need to take care of yourself and get in the nutritional stuff your body needs. I have lost more weight by eating more (good stuff) but needed to add carbs and fat in order for my body to let go. I was in total starvation mode and stalled for 6 days. As soon as I added more "stuff" in my foods, I've been dropping 1lb/day again. Therapy is a great idea at this time, a third person that can look at the situation from the outside is the BEST advice I can give. After going through a similar situation, I can guarantee you, you will come out stronger, better, more self esteem and look back and realize he was no good and no good for you Work on yourself, do not give him another minute of your tears, thoughts, etc. If he were worth it, he would have never done what he did. Actions speak louder than words You are worth it!!!!! Stay strong.- Disappointed And A Little Sad
I go through this almost every day. I've lost 38 pounds and I have to remind myself "girl, you still weigh over 300 pounds!" It's gonna take a huge amount of weight for me to no longer be "big", but I tell you what every day I'm working toward it and even though I'm not dropping 100 pounds overnight as I would like to, I know that this progress in 4 weeks is more than what I have done for myself in my entire life and more weight that I have lost in a long time. I have a total of 185 pounds to lose to get to my goal of 165....even when I write "lose 185 pounds" that sounds like too much of a hurdle, and I start to tell myself "there's just no way", so I don't focus on that. I focus every day on what I'm putting in my mouth and what kind of activity I'm doing to work towards ensuring the weight keeps coming off. I had this surgery because losing 185 pounds on my own felt impossible, but with the sleeve I KNOW it's possible to hit goal or come awfully close. This is a time to truly treat yourself kindly and with love. The weight will come off and one day soon, you'll feel the way you want Keep going, keep pressing on, don't give up!- Will I Ever Be Able To Chug Water Again?
Oh that is so nice to know that the day will come again when I can get half a bottle down in a chug! ....eventually. I'm 4 weeks and feel like I can take a good size drink but man am I dying To take that big gulp and keep drinking! At least it's not forever.- Power Crunch Protien Bars
Just want to share with everyone Power Crunch bars....maybe they are under the food section but I didn't find it in my search anyway....I can't beliee I have forgotten about these until today! My fav is peanut butter crunch but I know they also come in other flavors. Anyway 200 cal, 5 fat, 10 carbs and 13g protien....and the best part is that they are SOOOOOO good, nice and soft wafers so it's melts easily and goes down easy They sell them pretty much everywhere here in CA....7-11, grocery store, Costco in bulk.... Hope you guys like em!- Fever Post Op
Yes I coughed up a lot of stuff when I first came home and lasted for a few days...I felt like I had pneumonia coming on....I used the spiometer they gave me in hospital that helped and did the breathing excersies everyday, couple times a day. I also had slight fever at 99.5 when I oversteessed about work and over did it at home. Remember to take it easy and treat yourself kindly . Hope you feel better soon.- 4.5 Months Out And Weird Gurgling When I Eat!
I'm only 4 weeks and I have that exact same issue.! Did you have this in the beginning, it went away and now it's back??- Dang Stall
I'll be 4 weeks on Thursday and the scale has not moved in the last 7 days! . I'm hoping it kicks in again! Good luck to you!....I keep telling Myself IT WILL HAPPEN! There's no way it can't- Weight Loss With Eating Bad
Try carb cycling....it keeps your body always burning. The Extreme Weight Loss Makeover guy Chris Powell has a book Choose to Lose...the recipies in the book are really similar to what we should be eating. I'm 3 weeks out...when I hit 1month I am going to follow plan and see if I can avoid stalls . Good luck!- Shakes/jittery
Yes, I feel the same thing...just this morning....shaky and weak...and then I realize I haven't had anything but water! I'm trying to remember that the first thing I need to do when I wake up is get some protien in me. I'm 2.5 weeks out. My dr. Also said that because of so little cal./fat/carb intake that overnight our bodies go into starvation mode so eating within 30 mins of waking is very important....not to mention it helps with metabolism.- It's Been A While....
Your look amazing! And a great inspiration...you give me hope!- Having A Hard Time Getting Back Into Work Mode...anyone Else?
Last week was my first week back at work and I so don't want to work! I feel a little depressed. I'm definitly tired and don't have the energy level. I have the luxury of working from home but it is a very demanding job and I am out in the field most days....it's been a great job and I've been very successful at it....but I think I've lost the love of the job....it comes with a lot of headaches and stress (I run the OC division for this company) and I feel like I want to quit - but I know I can't. It's like once I had the time off (I haven't taken any real time off in 2 years) and real downtime, I can't seem to get my drive/desire back.....has anyone else experienced this?- Am I Alone!?!?!
I'm waiting to feel that also...I'm only 16 days out. I started the mushy stage and thought I was going try all these foods but I have no cravings and it seems more like a pain to eat than it's worth...I just dint want to. I don't miss food and don't mourn it or dream about it. I'm waking for this to change, when I want to eat again. I'm pretty much still doing 2 Protein shakes/day to get the protein in. I'm sure it will cone with time when I will want regular food. - If You Had The Choice - Would You Do It Again?
