    Chest Discomfort

I had surgery on the 27th. I still feels some gas pain in my chest but it gets better, you really have to rest, and take care of yourself. The best thing is to walk, walk, walk, walk... it may tire you out but it helps. Gas-X may help with the lower GI however the gas the put in you is in the abdominal cavity, not your intestines. The Gas-X won’t get rid of the gas in your chest. Concentrate on slow deep breaths, about 10 per hour when this starts. Remember to be drinking water, the more hydrated you are the more blood flow, the more blood flow, the more your body will absorb the gas. It gets better, remember to keep working your lungs, you don't want pneumonia
  2. Don't get real discouraged, the self dissapointment i think is worse. I am getting banded on Monday the 28th. I have not been 100% good. Everytime i gave in to the temptation i would honestly get so upset with myself I would vomit, didn't enduce the vomit but i would get so anxious. In the grand scheme of things that little bit of cottage cheese isnt going to do much. Try as hard as you can to stay true. It is very hard. add oenut butter to the shakes, or some fruit. I found the best tasting shake is to use some chocolate protien powder, ice, water, and some coconut greek yogurt, its like an almond joy. Hang in there, don't give up. Don't be like me. i regret my decisions and now am in a better mind set, but i wonder if it was too little to late. You dont want that on your mind. Hang tough, the first week is the worse, it gets a little better each day, and be concious of the situations you put yourself in. If your going to be around people or events where there is large amounts of food, maybe stay home or meet up with them after dinner. Best of luck to you.

    The Gas We Pass.....

Check out bariatric advantage online. They have good protien meal replacements. I have the iced latte in the morning and have the chocolate, and dreamsicle ones (sometimes mixed together) for the rest of the day. Also at Sams Club is Myoplex, high protien, low carbs. These are the best tasting ones I have found. They will also come in handy the week or two after your first fill when your on liquids.
  4. Don't cancel the surgery, I am right there with you. Each day I wake up with the biggest headache, I see food everywhere and my family continues to eat. These things are normal, you have to keep looking at the bigger picture. This is only temporary, it's a temporary hell, but only temporary. These two weeks will be nothing when you step on the scale in 6-8 months after the surgery and see that the weight of a todler has melted off you. I am struggling as well, I sat in the kitchen with my Protein Shake while, Fried chicken, Mashed potatoes, corn bread and corn was being made...my favorite me meal... I had to leave the room. Don't cancel the surgery, you're stronger than that. Like most of us you have jumped through some hoops for this and to walk away from it now would have been all that work for nothing.

    August Roll Call

August 27th for me! Started the 2 week liquid diet Monday..... Have a headache that just wont go away, hopefully these two weeks will go by fast.
  6. I too am being banded on the 27th of August. I started the diet on the 13th, The first day was not too bad. I had my shakes. Bariatric Advantage had some good flavors, the Iced Latte is good and so is the chocolate. I also was told adding fruit to my shakes was ok, but not banannas since they have a lot of sugar in them. Today I woke up hungry, and would looove french toast. But I digress.... On to having another shake. broth may help as well, its easy and can be found just about anywhere, Watch out for the high sodium though. Good Luck Ladies!!!
  7. So I got a call form the doctor's office saying my insurance company has authorizes my surgery (yay)...but the catch, I cant have it until October 28th because I have a pre-existing condition. When I asked what it was, they said my obesity. WTF? lol duh, I didnt get thin, then big again. So i have been calling and calling to try and figure this out.I have good insurance, its a PPO even have a coworker that got the band done 2 years ago. Same insurance, didnt have this problem. I know 2 years is a long time, but how is this a new thing? I have never been seen for obesity before, so how is it pre-existing? Anyone having this problem or know how to solve it???
  8. Jim 1967 That is true, at least they said it was approved. But what I want to know is, what happens if I gain more weight, or do i need to redo all the tests and classes I have done then..what. Obviously once I get a hold of a live person from the insurance company I will get these answers. Who knows...just a really strange occurence.
  9. I know right? I showed them records of having a personal trainer, who was also a certified nutrionist. I saw him for over a year, and on my own out of pocket. Also showed them my meals, cause I record almost everything I eat. Not going to lie, when Im out on the run i dont ALWAYS write it lol. I have calls in to several people at the insurance company to try and figure this out. My insurance only requires a few classes be taken, which I have done.
  10. So finally after not have insurance and wasting who knows, thousands of dollars on pills, powders, dvds and more I am just about done with everything and am awaiting to select a date for surgery. I have to take one pre-op class on mental changes, and get a ultra sound of my abdomen. Then we schedule. This is a 10 year decision in the making. Im 28 and being 350 lbs is getting in the way of me taking charge of the things I want to do. I carry the weight well and people don't think I am as big as I am but its time for a change. Any advice for the pre-op liquid diet?? Any addicted to Soda like I am and have suggestions on how to kick it? I switched to diet, and only drink 1-2 a day, which is good, I used to drink 5-6 a day. I've cut back but need to kick it. Any thoughts.
  11. Thanks everyone for the advice and support. KWood803 I will keep the thread going. I am hoping that surgery will happen by mid to late July.

    Pre-Op Diet.

I had my dietician and Surgeon check the Protein shakes I was taking and was told they were acceptable. Have yours check them as well. Myoplex Lite is a really good Protein shake, they come in a slew of different flavors. The dark chocolate and fudge are my favorite. Make sure it is the Lite version though, so the sugar is low. They carry the powders you mix with Water (no bad soy taste) or they have premade mixed drinks you can get from like sams Club or costco.
  13. I can relate to what your going through. It seems when you tell people that you are doing this there are three types of replies: 1. Supportive 2: dont really care or 3: unsupportive, and automatically they are nutrionists, dieticians, and have the secrets to getting thinner. And these people are usually the skinniets people, or people that don't struggle with weight loss. Your true friends are the ones that can look you in the eye and say they love you the way you are but support you in making the changes that will make you happy.
