I made the decision when I reached my highest weight of 272 to have gastric sleeve surgery so that I could keep up with my kids, take care of my husband, who has an adult form of muscular dystropy and get a firm grip on my health so that I could still be around to watch my children realize their dreams. I made the decision in September 2011, had to got throught the obligatory six months of diet and excercise counseling for my insurance, and finally got to have my surgery on June 4, 2012. That was the first day of the rest of my life. I am so excited and a little daunted by the challenges and joys this new life will bring for me. I plan to make the most of this tool and gift I have been given.
