  1. Your way doesn't mean it's the right way to do things... A lot of people do get discouraged by a stall and get off track, so if weighing everyday doesn't work for them it doesn't mean it's wrong. And I think the post was quite funny as I can relate to it. BP is about people trying to succeed but it's also about keeping it real with our own personal experiences Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I'd like to see numbers on the amount of patients who had aspire, remove it, and regain after a few years vs the regain numbers on traditional WLS patient. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Fun ideas for celebrating "surgiversary"?

I went on a cruise with some ladies I met on these boards (when it was still vertical sleeve talk). We all had our surgeries mid June, and celebrated our one year surgiversary together. It was a good time Edited to add: Happy Surgiversary! And congrats on your weight loss! You rocked it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I'm not trying to be a meanie pants, but are weighing your food on a scale? Even pre packaged foods (because those labels are off 99% of the time) or are you just eyeballing your portions. The only reason I bring this up is because it can be eye opening what a portion really is as compared to what I thought a portion size was. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Personal loan to pay for surgery.

I financed through my credit union. The rate was really good, I don't remember what it was though because it was 4 years ago. I paid it off last month! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I track my calories through myfitnesspal. If you put in all your information, height, weight, and all that it'll calculate the calories needed to lose weight. I don't have set numbers for my macros (protein/carbs/fat) but I still Stick to Protein first, and not over indulge in carbs. My ratio usually ends up with fat being the highest, then protein, then carbs Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

I really like the idea of a private veterans forum, I would definitely want in on that. I just came back here after a two year break and it certainly has changed a lot. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What made you get a tat?

I have 7 tattoos. My first one I got when I was 18. I don't regret any of them. I think you're either a tattoo person or you're not Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

The warning signs were all there...i was so stupid

Don't beat yourself up over it! Most of us have looked back on relationships thinking the same things you are thinking. I know it's easier to say this, than actually do it, but you need to start moving on and let go of this. It's not doing you any good. My heart goes out to you, I've been in your situation before. 18. I did a lot of research trying to decide between bypass and sleeve. Some things influenced me. I never knew anyone else in person who had the sleeve. I knew several people who had bypass. One of those people died. The others gained all their weight back. Also I remember reading how you can stretch your bypass pouch out again but you cannot stretch your sleeve out. Yes it will grow some in size over the years but it will never go back to its original size. I'm four years out and can only eat 3-4 oz of dense Protein. I know you can regain on the sleeve if you eat the wrong foods but once you get back on the wagon your tool is still in tact. For example, I gained 30 of the 102 lbs back I lost. Started eating right again about two months ago and I've only 10lbs left to lose of 30 I gained. Bypass seemed more intrusive to me. They actually reroute your plumbing. I didn't want to deal with malabsorption. I was self pay and when I went to my surgeon for our first meeting he asked me which surgery did I think was best for me and I told him the sleeve. And he agreed. Those things are the things that sealed the deal for me on sleeve vs bypass. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm just going to leave this right here.

1.)I am single mom. My son is 9 and he was diagnosed with autism in August 2014 and epilepsy this past December. 2.) I am and have been a probation and parole officer for 14 years 3) I met my boyfriend on a zombie game app you can download from the App Store. 4) I have 2 cats 5) I haven't flown since 1998 but am flying up to Wisconsin this month to see my boyfriend. I am annoyed with all the rules about liquid tsa has. I'm a girl, and a lot of my essentials are liquids. 6) I have always hated to cook, and I still do hate it but I do anyway. (I really think it's the preparing, cooking, and cleanup that I have to do myself) 8) I want to marry Dean Winchester and have his Babies Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Yes. Anytime you start a new exercise regime you will experience a stall or upwards fluctuation. It's caused by Water retention. However, like you said it is temporary. I experienced this, got frustrated and did a little research. Don't let it get you down. It's only temporary. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I think it could definitely be something to consider. I have that problem now 4 years post op, if I don't up my caloric intake for the days I work out, I stall or even fluctuate up a couple tenths of a pound. And lipstick lady is right, 13lbs in two weeks is great! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. For the amount of exercise you are doing you may not be getting enough calories in, causing slow weight loss. Maybe try backing down from the 7 miles a day until you can consume more. Maybe do two or three miles And kudos to you for being able to do that much so soon! I was very weak until about month two. I was getting dizzy and light headed trying to jump into a lot of exercise that soon. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Smoking

I had to quit smoking a month before surgery, my surgeons requirement. It was the hardest thing I've ever done. I stayed smoke free for two years post op. Unfortunately I started smoking again about two years ago. I'm having trouble finding the same motivation I did four years ago, but keep trying Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stomach stretching

I'm really surprised you could eat that much at not quite two months post op. I was not physically capable. Even now, after 4 years I could probably only eat about half of the half. did you get any wanting signs from your body that you were over eating? My nose starts running, and then I start sneezing uncontrollably for three minutes when I take one bite too much. Every one's surgeon does have a different eating plan afterwards. My surgeon didn't restrict any foods, even bread, once I was cleared for eating regular food again. I chose to not eat bread for the first year, aka the honeymoon period, because I wanted to make the most out of my sleeve. I paid $14k and I was gonna get my money's worth. I don't feel like anyone was here was condescending or trying to demean you. The veterans here have good advice to give. They want you to succeed with your surgery. You did ask, you may not always like the answers you get, but I think many need to hear the truth not platitudes, especially just starting out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
