  1. Hi everyone. I'm new here and have a question. I'm 42 yo with two older children. In January '12 I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called polymyositis - a disease that causes weakness of the muscles closest to the trunk of the body. I was put on prednisone and azathioprine (an immuno-suppressant) Currently tapering off prednisone on 10mg and on 125mg of azathioprine daily. Question is would WLS be an option at this point? Has anyone else with an auto-immune disease had the surgery?
  2. Praying for you hun, I'm sure it will all go well. Some people just don't understand what you're going through, but you've got the support you need right here :-))

Thanks for that Louise it makes me feel better knowing that she looked after you and that you're okay. Good luck at your visit. I'm sure you'll rock your sleeve!

I'm seeing Stephanie Ulmer. Has anyone else seen her? I feel very comfortable with her and hope it all goes well.

Hi I'm also in Auckland. I'm having surgery on October 1. I'm so excited I can hardly wait. This group is amazing because I'm learning about things I never even thought about asking.
  6. Thoughts and prayers go out to you both. Keep us posted. Good luck and good health to you.
  7. Wow!! You look amazing. Thanks for inspiring me to keep hopeful in my planning.
  8. Thank you all so much for your stories and advice. I agree - I'm going to be honest, sit him down and explain that I'm tired of yo-yo diets (I've been on 10 in 15 years). I'm tired of paying hundreds of dollars to loose 20lbs and then put on more weight the minute I stop. I know he'll understand how unhappy I've been. I know he'll tell me he loves me just the way I am. Bless him. I hope he'll understand that it's not about how much he loves me, but more about how I desperately want to love myself. Thanks again.
  9. Hi I'm a newbie on VST. I've been thinking about and researching vsg for a while now. Last week I saw a surgeon and my insurance has approved my surgery! Yay op is on 10/01/12. Can't wait to start my journey! Problem is I haven't told anyone - not even my husband! How did you raise the subject with your other half?
