  1. Sorry if I upset someone with my previous post. You thought I was showing off. I am sorry you are suffering . For some people the loss of food is truly like losing a best friend. I think anyone that is honest will tell you that they grieved food and went through a period of thinking OMG what have I DONE.. Life is about to change big time and is scarey and only a person who has been banded can relate to those feelings.

I went through those feelings. I went through years of failure with my weight and feeling like a failure because I didn't have control over a Hardies Breakfast cinnamon biscuit. After waiting 18 monthes for the band and jumping through every hoop the insurance company put out there I got banded. And I made the decision that I was going to follow directions and do what I was told whether it made sense or I liked it. I am not a rule follower this was not easy' date=' I had to recognize that my ideas had gotten me to WLS.

It was a struggle to give up my will and submit even my diet coke............. But I did it and I am proud ....not showing off. When you have tried every diet, plan and pill, patch and Jenny Craig throws up her arms and gives up on you and you finally get it and lose it you are happy/proud/celebrating.

I think my message is if I can do it with my rebellious heart then you can too. The weight loss begins in your head not your mouth or stomache honestly. And I know in every Fiber of my body from my past behavior that I would not have it together without my band . And my band taught me more then food restriction it helped me grow as a person that stopped eating her feelings. And I want that for every person who has ever felt the way I felt.[/quote']

I did not find this post rude at all. If anything it is motivating. Nobody told me this process was gonna be easy. I went in knowing full well it was going to be tough and it has been. Perhaps you were not ready for the band. You have to be ready to accept that eating the way you once did is over. But it does get easier.

  2. For the first time. Banded 4 weeks ago today. So I chose a small chili from Wendy's. it tasted so good I almost cried! Can a small chili really only be 210 calories?!! That is supposedly right but it tasted so good and now i feel guilty. Like i cheated! I am going to

  3. Hey Everyone! I was banded 9/28 and am down 22 pounds as of yesterday. Today it has been 4 weeks. I do not have my first fill until 11/08 and I am more than ready for it!! I am pleased with progress thus far. I need to work out more though, I have been bad about that for sure. I am loving all the support and info here, it has made the 4 weeks easier to get through!

  4. Working out will be necessary. There are threads solely about exercise. Even if you lose all the weight you want, a sedentary lifestyle is never good for anyone. Trust me, you will hit plateaus and will have no choice but to start working out. Nothing magic about the band. Still gotta do the hard work.

  5. I have had gurgling as well. I figured it was a bug or something. It feels weird. I took some of the anti nausea pills I had left over from surgery and it helped. If it continues, it sure what to do. I am going to bring up with doctor next appt.

  6. I feel so lucky. I see Dr. Ray in Bloomington Indiana. They have been so amazing and supportive and attentive thus far. I have never had any of these issues. I am 3 weeks out at this point and could never imagine Dr. Ray or any of his staff being this misinformed or uncaring. You deserve better! Take your records and run. I would also put your complaints in an email to the doctor. If you are gonna leave, share your experience so maybe they can improve and work on not letting your experience happen to the patients that use this facility in the future!

  7. Latest are added!! Up to 71 scheduled and 5 still in a holding pattern.

  8. Need some reassurance....I was banded a week ago today. It has been seven days and I still have so much bruising. Like purple bruising. I even had just a bit of bleeding today (may have done something to irritate it while working out) on the port site incision. Nothing major. I just cannot stand to look at myself and will feel much better if it is normal. I am going to call the doc tomorrow AM to get their opinion but wanted to see if any of you had any opinions on this. Thanks so much!!

  9. OUCH!!!! It sits there like a rock' date=' I start burping, get this tightness in my chest, lots of sliming, if it goes through the band eventually it hurts so bad, if it doesn't want to go through the band and wants to come up, it projectile vomits out of me. Has happened twice and I've learnt my lesson well. Chew chew chew and if you realise the bite is too big spit it out. What's worse is afterwards it aggravates everything for a few days.[/quote']

Wow, should I warn my husband that if I eat too much I am going to pull a Linda Blair, you know, just to warn him?

Seriously though, what is this "sliming" people keep taling about?

  10. Hi Louisiana Lady :-)

I may be misinterpreting what you said but I think you sound scared to try eating soft foods for fear you will gain back the weight you've lost so far. You can decide what you're ready for or not but may I offer some perspective' date=' as someone who was banded in 2003?

If your experience turns out like mine, you now have an opportunity to begin a *new* relationship with food. My band has totally taken away my ability to abuse food the way I once did. I can no longer binge or eat large portions. I now feel "Thanksgiving" full after a very modest amount of food. I used to see food as my friend but also as my enemy. I couldn't trust myself with it. It controlled me and my abuse of it was a humiliation in my life and made my life smaller and unhealthy.

But after living life with the band, food is neither my friend or enemy; it's delicious and nutritious fuel. But it's not more than that to me.

When you are ready (and you get to decide when that is) I hope you enjoy discovering the simple pleasures of the stage your doctor said to start next- eating soft foods. My hope for you is to be able to see that small amounts of healthy foods won't make you gain weight. You're going to be able to lose weight on soft foods and later solid foods and I hope you're delighted with all the delicious and wonderful and weight-loss inducing options you will have now that you're banded.

    :::smile:::

:::hands you a bouquet of roses and hugs you:::

Welcome to a new chapter in your life! :-)[/quote']

Very well said!!! Great perspective. I neeeded to hear that as I am to start soft foods a week from Friday and am also scared of gaining. Thanks for the insight!

  11. I am about the same number of says post op as you. I do still have pain but the pain and the gas have gotten better. I called yesterday and got some anti nausea meds because my tummy was so irritated and jumbly....is that a word Probably not. When I called they said the pain was normal and could still be gas but most likely from all the internal swelling. They said I would likely turn a corner in the next day or two. I did feel better last night.
