  1. My before and in progress picture. Down 63lbs from my highest. 43 from surgery.
  2. I honestly wouldn't. You need to get protein in and with the master cleanse your not getting anything substantial. Also the sugar in the maple syrup may not agree with you. If you really must do it I wouldn't do it for the full week. Try it for a day and see where you are. I did it several years ago for 3 day intervals. I wouldn't do more then that. Just my opinion.
  3. These look awesome!! Can't wait to try!
  4. I'm interested. I'm 2 months post op if that fits into what you're looking for.
  5. Just checking in. Been a while. Sleeved November 14th. Down 43lbs since surgery, plus 20 pre op. So 63 all together. I feel awesome!! I know It could have honestly been a bit more because over New Years week and then my birthday the other day I've eaten off plan a few times. But still think I'm doing well. Totally happy with my progress and plan to step up the exercise this month and really get the numbers moving!!
  6. GOOD question!!! I'm going to focus on exercise and getting into a routine. That is always my downfall.
  7. I need to do this! I didn't make my Christmas or New Years goals by a few pounds. Granted they were very ambitious. This time I'm under doing it so ill be sure to make them. And I can always revise. Highest weight 379 Surgery weight 359 Current weight 316 Challenge goal 306
  8. They look awesome!! Gonna try this week!!
  9. This doesn't help the men lol. But ladies- leggings are my secret weapon. Luckily right now oversized things are actually stylish so you can get away with baggy tops a few sizes too big. Just pair an oversize top with some leggings, pair of boots and an over sweater and there's my winter wardrobe. It's gonna get harder come spring lol. Obviously not an answer for work wear but for every day where it's working out great for me lol. I def can't afford to keep replacing jeans so the legging thing is working for me lol.
  10. They are very good. A friend of mine eats them and I was over there house recently and I wanted a snack type thing and found those in the pantry. The teriyaki is great and I was shocked there I 14 grams of protein. Highly recommend!
  11. You adapt. I'm about 8 weeks out and eaten out about 4 or 5 times and I've had very good experiences. Stick with things that contain Protein and take left overs home. Or get an appetizer that is healthy or protein packed. Also don't be afraid to ask for substitutions. For example I went to Applebee's a few weeks post op and everything seemed too big or fattening. I asked for a side d grilled chicken. Nothing else and they were very accommodating. I went to ninty-nine recently and ordered grilled turkey tips. I comes with French fries and I asked for a swap of mashed potatoes and some broccoli instead. Again very accommodating. I only took a bite of the potatoes and fav the rest to my friend. I went to a nice pub restaurant and my aunt and i decide to share a few appetizers. we got an appetizer of caviche and a chicken lettuce wrap dish. Both very VSG friendly. And finally went to the dreaded Cheesecake Factory. I was most surprised with their healthy choices. There were LOTS. I wound up with chicken and mushroom lettuce wraps there also. Awesome. They also had an ahi tuna appetizer that I want to try next time. There are lots of choices out there for us you just have to look, don't be afraid to ask for something a certain way and stick with things the have protein.
  12. Don't have any advice but the 7th is my birthday so I happen to think that an awesome day to ha e surgery! big congrats and good luck!
  13. I started everything in June- first appointment was June 18th and I had surgery November 14th so 5 months. It would have been 4 months but I was delayed one month for pulmonary. I complained about the process as I was doing it but all in all it went fast. I've been doing great! Down almost 60lbs (lost 20 pre op). The first few days were rough but by week 2 I felt great. I haven't had this much energy in a LONG time. Eating hasn't been as hard as i thought. Haven't has trouble with any foods I've eaten just have to learn to eat slower or its a bit uncomfortable. Aside from that i feel totally normal. I don't regret a thing about the decision.
  14. I'm from The Bronx also with Health First. I had surgery Nov 14th and went through Jacobi Hospital in The Bronx. I honestly didn't think surgery would happen at one point because the nurse practitioner told me health first is very difficult to approve. I didn't do a 6 month diet it either because no one informed me I needed one until very late in the process. So we submitted o insurance with just a letter for approval written by my surgeons office. I also did all the other standard pre op testing. We heard back in less then 24 hours that I was approved. SHOCKED me because they hyped it up to believe they were so difficult and I was so nervous. Honestly even the insurance coordinator was surprised they approved me so I don't know if my situation was a rare exception. If I were you I would do the 6 month diet anyway just to be safe. Best of luck!
  15. I had surgery the same day as you and I've had a few stalls. One lasted several weeks and I even gained 2lbs right after Christmas. Stalls are just part of this whole thing. You're doing great! Don't have any expert advice but just sending hugs to a fellow Nov 14th sleever
  16. Well you could probably fry one in a skillet with a tiny spray of Pam, but it's a much better idea to go with poached scrambled or hard boiled.
  17. Great stuff here guys thank you for the replies!! When you come on here and read low carb all the time it's easy to forget that there are good carbs. Cheri excellent post! I also look at VSG as a lifestyle and I don't feel like that included depriving myself. It doesn't mean I can feel free to eat crap either. For me a balanced diet has always been the goal. Clean eating is so appealing to me now also. It's amazing how much my outlook on food and eating has changed. Fresh veggies, roasted potatoes things like that are so appealing to me these days where as pre op I LIKED them but didn't crave them. I'm very excited to try some recipes with quinoa. I was introduced to it by my ex a few years ago who was all about health food at the time and I kind of just turned my nose up at it. I had it again before surgery a few months ago and really enjoyed it. There are tons of great recipes on Pinterest for it btw! Thank you for the input everyone! I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling like carbs have gotten a bad rep. Not all carbs are bad
  18. I lost 20 pound week 1 (I also had a heigh weigh 359) after the first week though it evened out and I hit a plateau for a few weeks, so don't be surprised if you stall for a little while after such a big loss. Generally when you start out with more to lose you drop the weight faster then say someone who started out at 220lbs. Don't worry it will even out, you won't be losing 20lbs every week lol
  19. So I know the word carbs is kind of a bad word around here lol but I'm interested to see what people's opinions are on good carbs like sweet potatoes, whole grain bread and starches like quinoa. I'm still early out and have been keeping it very low carb and I'm fine with that. I don't miss carbs for the most part, but down the line it would be nice to add some of these into my diet (with protein of course ring king) thoughts? How do you all feel about the so called 'good carbs'? I feel especially when I'm eventually able to step up my exercise good carbs may be helpful for energy.
  20. Sleeved 11/14. Heighest weight was 379 surgery weight 359 and today 322. So down 37lbs since surgery and 57 all together! Can't wait to make it an even 60!
  21. Well I did actually make my revised goal weight before Christmas but the day before Christmas I had food that was very high in sodium and I retained two pounds of Water so I actually GAINED weight in Christmas! I was 323 right before then 325 after!! I was so angry because 323 was my goal. But good news I weighed today and its all gone and I'm down another pound 322! Ill take it HW 379 SW 359 Christmas goal 323 Made goal before Christmas of 323 Gained 2lbs water weight and now 322 so I feel successful even with a minor glitch
  22. You're still very early out so don't be so concerned with the scale quite yet. Our bodies fluctuate right after surgery. Most people gain weight then drop then hit a plateau. I lost a lot my first week post op (20lbs) then nothing for a several weeks. Don't fret you're body needs time to catch up to what's going on. I think it's awesome your doing this with your husband! Sending you both lots of luck!
  23. Happens to me too. I eat too fast most of the time. Unfortunately turkey meat does this to me every time no matter how slow I eat or how small of a bite. Certain foods will do it more then others especially drier foods.
  24. I stalled for a while too. I was at the same weight for several weeks and it drove me MAD. Then all of a sudden BAM dropped 7lbs in a week! Right now I think I'm in another stall but I'm okay with it. I gained two pounds (THAT freaked me out) but I know it was mostly water weight caused by eating take out one night which was full of sodium (chicken and chinese veggies, but man chinese food always makes me bloat!) I'm not going to weigh for a while- hopefully I can last until after the New Year- because I'll drive myself crazy. I've lost 56lbs (well 53 minus the water ugh) and I feel great- not gonna let body fluctuation weight piss me off! Hope all my fellow November sleevers are doing great!
