Noticing Weight Loss
It's always hard to see it in yourself. I lost lot of weight about 5 years ago(pre VSG which I all gained back btw) and I just couldn't see it for the life of me. My family started to think there was something wrong with me because I kept saying I didn't see a difference. It's rough for us, we see ourselves every day lol. It's also probably a bit of body dismorphia. If your like me even as an obese person you didn't quite see yourself as obese. I would always stand next to normal size people and not really see how much bigger I was- even though I was like 3 of them. That's reverse body dismorphia. And I think as we loss it kind of reverses and we still see ourselves as big. That's how it's been for me anyway. I'm SURE at 40lbs down there is a noticeable difference. Your doing awesome! Keep it up!

Post Op Weight Gain?
The gain is normal. I didn't weigh until a week out but I'm sure I had gained too because I felt very bloated. As for the dent yup I have one. It's right above my big incision. It was the source of most of my pain, it pulled and really hurt for a few days. Now no more pain and happily the dent is going away. So it won't be there forever. I was really freaked by it too and kept asking the doctors and even posted on here asking If anyone had one. Don't worry it goes away!

Why Are/were You Fat?
It took me a long time to realize and actually admit to myself that any emotional issues or problems I've had we're the cause of my obesity. I spent SO many years of my life in denial. Recently I've been able to admit that it wasn't just because food tasted good or I liked to eat, it was because of other issues. I grew up poor, lots of issues at home. With out going too deep there were drugs in the house, fighting- thing I was exposed to at a young age that made me have to grow up too fast. Looking back now I think food was the comfort I turned to starting at such a young age. I've been overweight since I was about 7. Growing up was rough, I got made fun of so caused me to eat more and more for comfort and I was over 300lbs in middle school. Food was the best and worst thing that happened to me and I want to be able to cope and experience my feelings- good or bad- and not have them be effected by food. For people who are food addicts even with this surgery every day is a challenge but we CAN break the cycle! Anyway thanks for letting me share this very personal story. Hugs to all of you who have struggled!

Piercings During Surgery
Had to take my nose ring out. I've had mine for 4 years but still was paranoid it would close lol. I had it in my purse so I could put it back in after surgery but totally forgot about it. That was definitely the last thing on my mind lol. When I got home I remembered and luckily it hasn't closed lol

Bras?
They ask you to remove all clothes (bra, panties etc) when you put on your hospital gown. If you leave it on they'll notice and you'll be asked to remove it. It's really not that big of a deal. They've seen it all anyway and they aren't going to expose you just for the sake of it lol. Plus the OR is a sterile environment and by having any sort of street clothes on you could compromise contamination during surgery which they won't allow. It will be okay!

Anyone Out There Cold After Getting Sleeved?
This has been one of the BEST perks for me so far honestly!! Before I was ALWAYS hot. I would sweat in 20 degrees, my window was always slightly open. After surgery when I got home I've been slightly chilly at first. The other night while watching TV I had on a sweater, long PJ pants and fuzzy socks. My mother commented on how I had clothes on in comparison to before! I always walked around the house literally half naked lol. I haven't slept with my window closed in a LONG time and I haven't had it open this past week and have NOT woken up in a poll or sweat. My fingers toes and nose have even been ice cold at times!!' This is an AMAZING thin for me!!! I'm so happy!! The true test will be Summer! It will be so nice to not sweat all my makeup off! I've never had a comfortable Summer!

Nov 14 Sleevers?
Your doing great! Things have gotten better for me, everyone is different on how long it takes to feel okay. The first few days were bad for me too and I doubted I would ever feel okay again. I've gotten more and more energy as the days have gone by. I'm on full liquids too until Tuesday. Can't wait for purée! I think that will be a big thing in making us feel totally 'normal' also. Hugs!!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!
To all you newly sleeved hang in there! Things will get better, the pain will go away. I'm 8 days out, had a rough time in the beginning but I feel awesome now! Just a little soreness left in my middle incision but I'm back to my old self and you'll get there too. It will get easier when you get to full liquids and then puréed (only a few more days for me! Yay) And when you step on the scale you'll realize this has ALL been worth it! Hang in there, we're all pulling for you!

Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!
I'm exactly 1 week out today, I posted this in another thread but wanted to post here. I ordered a new scale and it came today. I haven't weighed in at all since surgery. I got on the scale today and OMG 339 which means I'm 20lbs down from surgery! OMG! I may have been a few lbs lighter right before surgery because they didn't weigh me the morning of but a few days prior and I was 359 and I didn't have a pre op diet, but still HOLY CRAP! 40lbs all together including pre op weight loss! Any regrets I may have had initially are GONE! I haven't been this weight since 2008 and it's very emotional for me because all I did the last 4 years was work to just get into the 330's range and couldn't- and in ONE WEEK with VSG I have!! All you who still haven't been sleeved this is the best decision! It will be hard, but its worth it! I have not one regret today!

Nov 14 Sleevers?
I ordered a new scale from Amazon this week because the scale I have is old and weird, plus only went to 330 and I wanted to know what I was NOW lol. It came today. I got on and OMG! 339!!!! 20lbs since surgery!!! In 1 week!! Is this even possible??? I'm freaking out and I cried lol I haven't seen a number in the 330's since 2008 and all I've done is try for 4 years to get back there (that was my usual 'comfort zone weight back then) and in ONE WEEK with VSG I'm there!!! I can't believe this!! Just what I needed the day before thanksgiving because I was starting to feel sorry for myself not being able to eat. 40lbs down including pre op!

How Many Calorie's, Fats, Carbs, Sugars Are We Allowed?
THIS!!! I wanted to be as prepared as I could be, I was obsessed with having everything ready. I'm kind of OCD about planning. But all the planning in the world didn't really prepare me enough. I head of people loosing their taste for stuff, hating sweets etc and I shook my head and though NO not me! What happened? A few days post op all of a sudden I started HATING anything sweet. All the Protein I liked pre op- honestly now the thought makes me sick now. I have to try to get it in but it's a struggle. Just don't over plan because things can go way off your plan here real fast lol

Nov 14 Sleevers?
I tried something tonight for a little extra Protein because the shakes are just revolting to me. I haven't even been drinking them that long ugh Anyway I read this on here and it was a great idea! 1/4 cup of Greek yogurt 1/4 cup of FF milk Squirt of MIO. I used orange tangerine. And OMG it was good, tolerable and tasted like an orange creamcicle! It was 7 grams of protein I believe. Not bad!

Nov 14 Sleevers?
I'm also on the 14th. Doing a lot better! A lot of the pain is gone but still some pain on the left side and in the dent. A lot of that pulling feeling has stopped thankfully. I unfortunately have diarrhea now which is really a pain in the butt but I'm sure because all i can eat is liquids i didn't expect solid poop lol. I'm on full liquids now until Tuesday when I go in for my two week checkup and they'll advance me to mushies!! I so can't wait! It's kind of torture being on Full liquids during Thanksgiving lol. I'm totally grossed out by sweet things thought the thought of the Protein shakes makes me ill so it's been rough to get in protein. Also been a little rough to get all the liquids

Still Hungry
I was sleeved the same day as you. I'm having hunger issues too. I know some is head hunger but some is real. As said above when your on liquids it's hard to tell restriction. I noticed when I eat thicker soups I feel a bit more full. Praying for good restriction once I get to mushies next week!

Post-Op Diet
I'm jealous of you guys who get to have solids so soon! I'd kill someone for a piece of turkey lunch meat or a string cheese! Lol
-
Post-Op Diet
2 days clear liquids 2 weeks full liquids 2 weeks mushies (purée) 4 weeks soft solids Then finally everything. So I can't really have all foods for a good 2 months. Sigh.

- Moist Salmon
I love to make salmon with mustard, Dill and lemon. Spread a tiny bit of a good mustard in each side, sear in a hot pan skin side down (put a tsp of EVOO in the pan first) the skin will get nice and crisp in few minutes and I turn over, sear the other side, adds some fresh lemon juice, a slice of lemon on too, few springs of Dill and a tiny bit of water- to allow it to steam. Cover the pan for a few minutes and done. It's never come out dry for me like that as long as you don't let it go for too long. Depending on how many pieces the time varies but I usually would do 2 minutes each side and 2 steaming it. - Moist Salmon
