    Anyone Regret It?

I thought I was going to regret it for almost a week after surgery because you really do experience so many emotions and it is so permanent. What kept me from regretting it and being an emotional wreck was the fact that I kept telling myself that the liquid phase was just temporary. I kept reminding myself that a couple weeks of very bland, non-fulfilling broths and Jello was only temporary in this permanent process and that my diet would return to normal soon (even though I knew it was going to be a "new normal"). The beginning stages were tough but nothing I will ever regret. Actually, the tough parts make me appreciate this whole journey even more. Good luck to you all on this journey and I hope everyone can make the best of it. It was definitely the right choice for me.

    Sleep Troubles

I could not sleep for the first 2 weeks after surgery. I thought that maybe I was not expending enough energy during the day so I increased my activity and started sleeping better.

    Pain Pump In Hospital?

My surgeon puts in an On Q pump which slowly injects a numbing medicine. He also prescribed six doses of IV tylenol that was scheduled every 6 hours. I can say that I did not take any extra medicine in the hospital. I experienced pain once on the day of surgery right after I walked. The pain wasn't bad and it went away as soon as I was still for a couple of minutes. Pain was never an issue when I came home either. I would take the prescribed liquid Lortab right before bed because I sleep on my side or my stomach. The Lortab made it easier to get in a comfortable position. Good luck to you. If you do experience any pain just keep in mind that walking really helps and that the soreness gets better every single day.

    Tmi...... No Really Tmi

Are you taking an Iron supplement or drinking anything that is purple or blue? Either of those can turn your stool green.

    Kentuckians

I live 30 minutes from Frankfort. I would be willing to meet up but I'm not sure if I am working that day or not. I will check on Monday and can let you know then.

    Favorite Workout Tunes

I have a lot of Rihanna too. I recently added The Black Keys to my list. I also added some Seether songs too. So far these are pretty good suggestions and quiet a few I already have.

    Favorite Workout Tunes

Hi all! I am bored with my current workout playlist and am looking for some new tunes. What are some of your favorite songs to workout to? I'm not picky. I like everything but I find that country is a little hard to listen to while working out.

    Hospital Stay?

I was there 2 nights. My surgeons preference is for his patients to stay 2.

  11. My nutritionist told me that if hunger is an issue then it is probably from not having enough protein or not getting in enough fluids.
  12. I have been an open book about surgery and I even made a Facebook status about surgery. It was my decision and I am proud of the fact that I had enough guts to do something for myself for a change. I expected some people to be negative but I have been pleasantly surprised. Everyone that I have discussed it with has been positive, encouraging, and even excited about my journey. Some people have been wanting to know more about the surgery but never knew how to access the resources until they asked me. Some didn't discuss it or look into it out of fear because all they have heard have been horror stories. I feel blessed to be able to share my experience and educate others on WLS. It is a personal decision about who you want to tell but when I made my mind up to tell co-workers and everyone else I decided that if I received any negative comments it was because that person wasn't educated enough on the whole process or was truly just worried about me having surgery.

    Glad U Did It?

I am almost 11 weeks out and I have not had one complication. I have only had nausea once and that is because I ate too much too fast. I feel like I have never had anything done except that I am not able to eat as much. I recommend the surgery highly for anyone that is going to follow the guidelines given to them by their physician. My advice is educate yourself as much as possible, pray for guidance, and follow the basic rules post op. Pain was never even an issue. There is some soreness but nothing that walking and taking it easy for a few days won't help. Best of luck to you!

    Ky Sleevers

I am from the Lexington area. Had my surgery at Central Baptist Hospital in April.
  15. Hello all! I have been a member for a couple of months but have been a little shy about posting. I was sleeved April 19, 2012. I went to a free seminar that the surgeon had back in July of 2011. After much prayer and thought I decided to go through with the surgery. I had to do a 6 month supervised diet and at the time I was annoyed at the fact that I had to wait. Now that I am post op I am so glad that I had the 6 months to prepare. I think that if I hadn't had the 6 months I would be completely lost now. The day finally came for surgery. I wasn't nervous at all. My post op course has been uneventful. I have been truly blessed. The worst part for me was the first week and the 2 day stay in the hospital. The only thing that bothered me about the hospital is the On-Q pump was in the way and I did not like the effects of the anesthesia. The first week I was home was a little trying because I had a lot of head hunger and couldn't sleep. Now at 10 weeks out I feel back to normal (with the exception of not eating a ton and people bugging me about how much weight I have lost). I seriously feel like that I have not had anything done. I am not the faster loser and I have been fighting within not to compare myself to others. I understand that everyone is different. For all the pre-op people I pray that you have an amazing journey and are complication free. For all of the post-op people I pray that this journey will be the biggest gift you could have done for yourself and for strength to keep up with this lifestyle change.
