    Headaches With Not Eating

i only drink 1 cup a day and if it's black, a half cup will suffice. From what I've read...it's all about the protein! I haven't been sleeved, but I will keep you informed when I do about the headache situation!

    Headaches With Not Eating

I have not been sleeved yet, but the same thing happens to me and I was just wondering this today. Protein and black coffee usually fix my headaches now. Can't wait to hear the responses.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

I am scheduled for 8/6/12 if the insurance approves it. I should have an answer by 7/31/12---no pre op diet required.
  6. I am scheduled for Sleeve Surgery August 6, 2012, if approved, and I was wondering why all of you chose the Sleeve and note the Gastric Bypass or the Lap. I am very, very scared and honestly need help in choosing a procedure. I feel the doctors in the Northern NJ area are pushing the sleeve because they want more experience and more information about it, but I am so scared. Any comments are welcome.

    Protein Ideas?

I have been eating Quinoa a lot lately. It is a grain (that is also gluten free) and has 8 g protein in 1 cup. You cook it like rice. I don't really like the taste, but if you add onions and chicken broth to cook it in it is better. Lately I have been making it and cooling it and tossing it with arugula, chopped cucumbers, craisins, and feta in lemon and olive oil. I can't get enough of it---I haven't been sleeved yet!
  10. That's 10 lbs. in 12 days. I think that's great. The loss will happen, don't worry. In general, it is healthier to lose slower and I wouldn't mind it because then people will just think that I am naturally loosing the weight. I noticed on your profile your insurance approved after an appeal. If you don't mind me asking, please let me know about how long it took from submitted the original claim, to hearing it was denied and then the appeal to the approval. I am so worried I will be denied.

    Impatient, So Impatient!

LOL, I was just telling my friend that I don't want to buy any summer clothes because my surgery date is 8/6 and next summer I won't be needing them. Unfortunately I have to get a few things because I can't keep wearing the sames things over and over and I won't know if the insurance approves it until mid July. Oh well, I just keep thinking next year, I'll be shopping in the "normal" size department, and there's a lot more to choose from and better prices too!

    ?

I've heard people say you can only eat 3 oz (not 5 oz) portions at 1 time, maybe that's what it is.

    Got My Sleeve June 12Th.

i haven't been sleeved yet, but from what I've read on this site, everyone is different with the speed in which they lose. But you can be sure, that you WILL lose the weight and you are HIGHLY unlikely to gain it back. So enjoy those thoughts.

    Approved! Yay!

Good for you. Would you mind telling us what insurance you have? I have Oxford and I have 1 more month before I know.
  15. Wishing you all the best. Keep us posted post surgery.
  16. I think it depends on your age and history. I have a friend that did the Lap Band, she was 26 at the time and lost about 110 lbs...no issues at all. I have another friend that also did the Lap, we was 45 at the time, with 3 kids and lost about 95 lbs...she had issues. Nothing she couldn't deal with, but she would never put on a bathing suit because of her legs and arms. I think there are ways to have the insurance cover some of the cosmetic surgery, talk to your sleeve surgeon.

    Bills After Insurance

i only recently started having insurance, but i was told by them 9oxford) that i would only have to pay the deductible with is $3,500 (for the hospital) along with the co-pays for my 6 monthly visits prior to my surgery (scheduled for 8/6). if everyone is in network, it should be 100% coverage. Something must be wrong.

    Fat Lady Syndrome

    I can't wait to have F.L.S.!
  20. i hope that's right. I'd love to get out of my size 10 shoes and into an 8 1/2 again!

    Time?

If you are paying cash, it could be within days. If you have insurance, it depends on their requirements. I have Oxford. They require 6 months of nutritional counselling. I went to a seminar in early February, and my first of 6 sessions mid February. My last appointment is early July, then they will submit the claim to the insurance, I was told I will hear back from them within 72 hours-but later told within 7 days and my surgery is scheduled for 8/6/12.

    Sleeved June 4Th Experience =)

I was wondering what insurance you have, is it Oxford by any chance? Also, what did you mean when you said he made your esophagus tighter?

    Tiny Violins

The doctors in my group don't require a Pre-op diet, thank God. They only ask that you eat smaller meals for a couple of days prior to surgery and nothing after midnight the night before surgery. Am I the only one on this site who's doctors don't require a Pre-op diet?

    Is It Too Much?

why are you calling them so much?
  25. I hope it's like having your gallbladder removed. That was incredibly easy for me, no pain at all-I just couldn't believe it! My surgery is on 8-6-12, assuming my insurance approves it.
