    1 Month Out And Exercising

I'll be a month post-op on Tuesday, and I'm so tired of walking. I have to have variety to stay interested and I feel like I'm wasting prime "honeymoon" phase by only walking. I'm ready to get back to my pre-op routine, because I know I can get the weight off by burning 700+ calories per workout and eating so little. Having said that, my doctor said to continue walking until I'm 6 weeks post-op. It will suck so much to wait another 2 weeks. Anyone went back to heavier workouts at 1 month out? How did you feel? I'm sure there will be plenty replies to just follow my doctor's orders, and I'm a nurse, so I follow docter's orders on a daily basis. I'm just asking, lol.
  3. I bought the Sam's brand of omeprazole, and ever since I've started taking it, I have more acid and gurgling. It's weird, because I was taking the Target brand, and wasn't having these problems.

I Hate How People Label Us Wls Patients

It's interesting that I'm reading this story, because this same thing happened in my department. A patient over heard some nurses talking about her size, and she was a post-op WLS patient. When it was all said and done, we had to complete 4 hours of sensitivity training, and we lost 1/2 of our Press Ganey bonus, the usual $250 went down to $125. It was enough to piss everybody off, because those bonuses are given around Christmas. Needless to say, we were all on our best behavior afterward, and if someone said something, it was said away from anyone hearing.

    Back On Track Thread

Why do you think you're off track? 55 pounds in 10 weeks is alot of weight. If you're hungry all the time, why don't you add a little chicken to each meal? I buy a rotisserie, and I pull a few slices off with Breakfast and lunch. I noticed I have more of a problem with head hunger around dinner. I'm not really hungry, so I started drinking a shake for dinner, and I go to bed an hour later, so I don't think about food.

    5 Weeks Out & Thirst!

Mix the Powerade with water. I use a water bottle, and leave 1/2 water, and fill to the top with the drink you prefer. It helps to cut the calories.

    When The Dream Ends...

Bubbles, I think you should take a few days to digest everything then start working on a solution. It's certainly not over for you, it's just a roadblock, there are other routes. I have 2 jobs, only one offered insurance that would pay for the surgery, so maybe you could consider getting a second job. At minimum, the extra money will allow you to consider Medical Tourism. I don't know where you live, but if you don't mind disclosing that info, people here on this site can steer you toward places of employment that has insurance that will cover WLS. I've given out a lot of names to employers that cover it in my area. There's a lot to think about, but it can be done. Also, I took out a personal loan from my credit union to pay off my debt 3 years ago. It was very low interest, so I was able to do it in less time. Again, having a second job would help you pay it off. I know that no one wants to work 2 jobs, but that second job, even if it's part-time can really make a difference. Consider these options and I know a solution will work it's way out for you. P.S. Like someone else said, minimize your expenses. Cut the cable, take the bus to work, have garage sales. I've done all of these things to pay off my debt and I'm not ashamed of it. Whenever I would get down about my financial situation, I think about the quote, "Live life like no one else, so you can live life like no one else." God Bless You.

    Pain Medication Question

I stayed overnight due to n/v. I had a Dilaudid pump, which I never used. I was given Toradol post op, and I had IV Tylenol, which was more than enough for the pain. My surgeon uses the On-Q pump, so I was pretty numb the first 3 days, anyway.
