If you have tried repeatedly, and you are aware this requires alot of work and will might take longer for you since you will not have the initial weight to lose, then yes I would have...

Accountability programs like WW will work as long as you keep yourself accountable to someone. You will need someone that will tell you straight if you go off track &you need to be willing to accept that from them.

Someone should do a study on this. I'm thinking we would need a pre-op test & 3-6-9-12month post op tests.
I feel we could really do a service for our fellow man. Poeple want answers.

The funny thing is see here is, all this equipment that is supposed to be state of the art, is in pretty much every hole in the wall surgical facility in Mexico.
I will not argue, Dr Aceves is without doubt one of the 2 top choices in Mexico, the other being Dr Alvarez @ Endobariatric.
I was personally sleeved by Dr Ponce de leon. From the day I left the int hospital, I haven't had a single medication (excluding stool softeners), haven't had a single complication, or even a moment of regret.
I'm happy to say, the you get what you pay for mindset just doesn't hold true here. If paying 40% more makes you feel like you had a better experience, then I am happy for you. But to suggest that someone that has scrimped & saved to get the money to self pay for a good qualified surgeon (ponce, Kelly, Garcia) should go into debt so they can go to your doctor, is reprehensible.
I personal could have gone to any doctor I wanted to and just written a check for it (yes including the 60K surgery in NJ), and I seriously considered both Almanza & Alvarez, however the more actual research I did the more I found that Kelly's & Ponce's credentials & patient satisfaction rates were equally impressive. The only thing they didn't have was the extra $3250 in their fee.
The deciding factor between Kelly & Ponce, for me was Trish, since Kelly had just recently stopped using coordinators, and Trish was now with Dr Ponce exclusively.
I don't advocate debt, I believe it is a cancer on our society. There is a line somewhere that says "the borrower is slave to the lender". I simply don't see why anyone would sign up to be someone else's slave.
If you have the money, and it makes you feel better to write an 8750dollar check than one for 5500, then I'm happy for you. But don't for a minute believe that just because you spent more money that you got better results.

Wow, that has got to be the most stringent pre-op I've seen. Mine consisted of 2 days of liquids & yogurt, then nothing at all 6hrs before surgery.

Innerme, the best I can tell is you were 211lbs SW? You have a GW of 140 which will bring you to a BMI of 22.59. The unfortunate reality is, with 71lbs to lose, you simply are not going to see those massive numbers you've come accustom to reading from higher BMI patients. You are doing fine. Today marks 3weeks fron your surgury, and you've averaged over 2lb per week. I definitely understand your frustration, but as the 12 steppers say, "it works if you work it " Just keep following your diet, exercise, & try to keep a positive mindset.
I'm willing to bet money that at your nine month mark you will eithe be at goal or so close to it.

Yup, you hit the nail right on the head, it's all about calories. Whether you choose to reduce you're intake or increase the number you burn, that's the only choice
As far as it being a failure, I for one don't view it that way, you've lost almost 90lbs!! And comparing your loss to your husbands is simply not fair to you.
The simple fact is men& women are different. It may not be politically correct but it's true. Women typically carry much less muscle on them, & they tend to be smaller framed.
So if your caloric intake is the same as you're husbands then it does make sense that his loss would be greater. His body burns more calories at rest simply because of the existence of more muscle tissue. Then when you both do the same exercise, he is engaging larger muscles therefore he is burning more calories.
I know this really is not what most ladies want to hear, but I hope this helps you. You've come a long way, don't get discouraged now. It's time to adapt & overcome.

I'm so glad that I am cheap!
Seriously, I think that, in it self has helped me in this process. I never was willing to spend 5dollars+ on popcorn. And now when I go into a restaurant all I can think of is "Am I really gonna spend 10-15 on a meal when 1/2 will end up in the trash, & 2/3 of the other half will be leftovers?"
Who would have thought that being frugal would make getting healthy easier??
