    California? Anyone...ツ

Hey ETJennings - keep in touch and let us know how it goes. I live almost right next to Good Sam and almost went to Zare. Good luck! Hi RoyalSecret! I hope your recovery is going strong!
  2. Hi, I seem to have this problem when I am drinking more than one shake a day. I think it is your bodies reaction to the sugar substitutes in a lot of these shakes. The same thing happens when I am at my mom's and I eat more than a few pieces of their sugar free candy.
  3. What a wonderful thread. Thank you all so much for sharing your stories and your success. It is truly inspirational to everyone!

Hi Deb - I think each insurance plan is different. Can you post what type of insurance you have? Congrats on taking the first step!

I believe my PCP is NUTTS!

HI chocolate - I remember years ago I was seeing a Dr and he commented that I was at 28 yo 210 lbs and i should lose weight. Well, shortly after that I went with a friend to a WW meeting and wow it worked like a miracle for me. I worked my ass off for 10 months and got down to 138. The next year I went in to my appt so happy. I was so ready to get my high five. He completes the whole exam and then asks if I had anythign else I wanted to talk to him about. I said well I did lose 80lbs since I saw you last. He flipped back through my chart and said...wow you have. LOL, yes I was mad. They don't even bother to review even quickly the stats of you last visit.
  8. Oh, I love fava beans. My Sudenese friends showed me how to cook them with galic, tomtoes, onions, cumin, and then a big spoon of peanut butter then dressed with olive oil and fresh lemon. I always eat them with pita though. However, when I am post sleeve I will try to remember to eat some fool.

    Bay Area of California anyone?

Hi - Congrats on your surgery and the progress you have made thus far!! I live in Los Gatos a little to far to travel to the east bay. I am still in the preop phase with surgery likely at the end of Feb/beginning of March. I do love to go for hikes and walk. I live next to the Vasona walking trail that goes all the way to Lexington, Rancho San Antonio, and Castle Rock. If you are ever in the south bay and want to meet up send me a message. Since I ask everyone post surgery - where did you have your surgery, how was your recovery, what has been the hardest, the best, and lastly any suggestions to us pre sleevers on the best things to have around the first few weeks? Thanks! Best of luck Bay Area Sleevers!

    Did you tell...?

I am on the last month of my six month pre-op period. I have told three close friends and my mom. I had two friend attend a monthly support group with me and they enjoyed it. I tend to be a private person and I don't know that I will tell many other. Once I get approval I will most likely tell my boss as we are fairly close. However, I work in an office with about 4 women and 40 men so I am guessing I will stop with her. Congrats for starting to explore!

    California? Anyone...ツ

HI Everyone, I am in Los Gatos. I will most likely have surgery March 2013. I am seeing Dr. Pamela Foster who I adore. She is affliated with El Camino Hosp & Mills Peninsula. She has office hours in Los Gatos on most Fridays. I have been to a support group that meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at El Camino Hosp. I have actually gone several times and find it very informative. It is nice to see and hear people who have had the surgeries, and a good opportunity to meet people waiting or learning about surgery as well. The meeting is lead by the bariatric nurtritionist at El Camino. It is open to any one - you don't need to be a patient there or seen by one of their doctors. There is an informatinal session before. http://www.elcaminohospital.org/Programs_and_Services/Bariatric_Surgery/Bariatric_Surgery_Support/Support_Groups

I Hate It When People Misuse "literally"!

I had a coworker who always had "erins" to run. It wasn't until he typed it to me in an email that I corrected him. I have felt guilty about it for years now.
  13. Hello Everyone! I am American and am married to a Saudi. We live in the San Francisco area. I only have one more month oh the six month diet my insurance requires. My Dr said it is a long enough time that about 1/2 the people back out. I think I am in that phase now. Getting more scared, but am putting my trust elsewhere and praying. I actually found about the sleeve from my husbands friend in Saudi who had the surgery and dropped 100+ lbs. Good luck on your journey ladies! Karen
