  1. You can start fresh, just don't give up. Try to not beat yourself up and leave the past behind you. I sound like a broken record, but this site is full of support, motivation and valuable information, so stick around and when you're struggling hit the success stories, beore/after pctures or anything that will help you get through the rough spots. Most of us have broken the rules at some point. Take care and keep us posted.
  2. This forum has gotten me over a few humps, the support here is amazing. Some days when I get discouraged, I pop on in and read the success stories and look at photos, other days I read about others struggling with the same issues. You can and WILL do this!

I'm 11 weeks post-op and had my first fill today. I think the timimg was perfect as I was getting a little grumpy about having lost ONLY 26lbs. Hearing my Doctor tell me that I am on target with the loss and even past his expectations so far, really helped me. I think we all play the comparison game, we know or read about someone who has lost more weight in the same amount of time and it bothers us, at least that's how I feel some days. 26 lbs. lost in 11 weeks, no fill at surgery and no fill until today...not too shabby I say. I need to remember that I have lost a lot of weight, that if it wasn't for my band and my hard work I would still be carrying around a toddler.
  4. Wow! it must be Pizza day in Texas! That's what my family is having tonight. I had my first fill today, so I'm on liquids for 24 hours. I would not eat a slice though, I might pick a few pieces of meat off but that's all I allow myself, I can't be trusted :/ It will get easier, I promise.
  5. I'm so glad I found your post, and the replies. I had my surgery on June 20th and have been having port area pain/pulling lately...was getting a bit freaked. I go in for my first fill today, so I will consult my Doc. just in case.
  6. I get my first fill today. I'm concerned because for the past few days I've had pain and a "pulling" sensation, it's mostly around my port. Does anyone still experience anything like this? I thought by now I would be completely healed...getting a bit worried.
  7. You're doing great! congrats!
  8. My surgery was June 20th and I'm getting my first fill in two weeks. Having no restriction has been hard, but I have only had a couple of bad days when I was on vacation. I've lost 26lbs. as of this morning. It's great to see how well everyone is doing, congrats!
  9. Did it finally work for you? I see a difference in the previous signature...if you still need help email me..
  10. Yes, I grew up here and when I visit other states I notice a big drop in restaurants.

  12. There is a Diabetes forum group http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forum/144-diabetic-bandsters/
  13. Great advice, thanks so much!! I'll keep that in mind
  14. I've thought about that too, let us know how it goes. have a safe flight
  15. Thank you everyone, I feel a lot better. Have a great weekend!!
  16. I will be getting my first fill in September, then I have to fly five days later. Can anyone share their experience so soon after a fill? Should I change my appointment until I return? Thanks!
  17. I did almost two weeks of liquids post-op. Straining regular low-sodium soups helped, I was so tired of Broths. Also, as I'm sure you've read here already, Popsicles are wonderfully yummy when all you can have are liquids. We WILL do this Kim!!
  18. I had myself convinced I'd have an easy recovery, ha! silly me
  19. Thanks! You're on your way too, time really flies once you get your date
  20. It's been a month today since my surgery, so I thought I'd add a quick update. The first week was HARD, lots of pain and discomfort Week two was a bit better, but still painful and had major gas pain on my shoulders Third week, the gas pain started to taper off, had very little energy Week four, less pain but have started having the "pulling" feeling around the band area, still tire easily and have little energy Total Lbs. gone for ever=18 Would I do it again? yes! What I would do differently? seriously do a pre-op diet. It wasn't required for me. I'm looking forward to feeling more like myself in the next few weeks, I feel drained by mid-day, I also wish the swelling in my stomach would go down already...baby steps, I know...I know.

I had the horrible gas pain as well, after the first week I switched to chewable Gas-X and it worked better for me, I just made sure to chew the heck out of them. Good luck, and keep posting and keeping us updated on your progress.
  22. I'm not quite four weeks out, I have very little energy and was also wondering when the freaking swelling would go down? my stomach? OMG it's like I'm carrying twins!
