Wow... never heard of that either. I have been banded for 2.5 years, haven't been on anti-biotics since but thanks for the info, I will remember this when I get sick.

Don't give up. I can understand that you are disappointed. I think that most of us, at one point or another go through something like this. At the peak of my weight loss momentum, the doctor had to take all the Fluid out because I had a small slip. Once all the Water was out, and 3 weeks later, I had gained almost 10 lbs. But, keep looking forward and re-focus. Try your best to put that behind you. You'll do fine .

Well, after a slow start after my banding (May 22, 2012) I am finally in a good place and seeing results. I was 199 yesterday and I almost cried when the first number on the scale wasn't 2! That was the motivation I needed to kick myself in the butt and push on to my goal. So happy!!!!

That doesn't sound like a slow start. I am only one month and one week out and have lost 20lbs. I hope I can see onederland as quickly as you.
Great job- sounds like you are doing a wonderful job!

In regards to a book, get the book "Bandwagon" by Jean McMillan. She's on this site and her book (and her of course!) has excellent advice. She also has a band cookbook.

There is recent evidence to suggest that with small sips u can drink during and after meals , the article is in the magazine section on here, i will often drink tea or coffee 30 mins after my dinner and have no problems at all, just reduce the time by 5 mins each day and see what your optimum time is after a meal to drink, everyone is different so there arent any rules that are set in stone .. in general yes but just try it slowly reducing the time and see u may find 30 mins is fine for you too i always have Soup before my evening meal followed immediately by dinner and i never have problems with that either.

I am in the same boat as you right now. I am finding that I am becoming more neurotic these days and I am 5 days post-op. I am definitely having the "holy crap, what have I gotten myself into!?" issue. I have never been one to wish time away, but right now I would like to fast fwd about 2 months. Everybody on here seems genuinely nice, helpful, and concerned for each other's well being, which is so nice. I was also wondering about this "slime" business, and now I know . I hope we can both relax and let time do it's thing so we can get on with this journey to our new, happier, healthier selves!! Good Luck!!

Some people feel a lot of restriction from day 1 most need a few fills to get a good satisfaction/restriction going, common sense should tell you that the written information on any things like diet/nutrition etc can only be for the average amount of people some will be less hungry some will be more hungry it is the nature of genral guidleines which is what u have been given .. stop beating yourself up over the small things that will probably not make an ounce of difference in the long run and chill and relax and heal .. good luck and i wish you every sucess ...

My first few days I was told only to have about 1 oz of water/liquid at a time. I actually set the timer on my phone for every 10-15 min to help myself get most of my liquids in. It sounds like your surgeon is not as conservative as mine since I was on full liquids until week 3 then I started mushies. At this stage I would also expect you to feel full after 4 oz of food or liquid if you are eating it all at once (within 30 min). I wouldn't push yourself to "eat" more than you feel comfortable with but do be sure to drink plenty of fluids. I would ask your doctors office if the sample diet they gave you is the same one they give all patients or if it is different for you since you are a type 1 diabetic. If it is the one they give everyone I would continue to ask for advice on here. Although I normally recommend for people to follow their surgeon/doctors advice it sounds like yours may be pushing you a little to fast.
It gets better! I think most people about day 3 or 4 start wondering what in the world they have done but soon are glad that they were banded. I was banded 6 weeks ago yesterday so I am by no means an expert but I am not too far ahead of you if you want help through the next few weeks!
