aworkinprogress reacted to LindaS in Weight Loss Simulator
I was perusing the health and fitness boards at Pinterest.com tonight, and I found a link to this Weight Loss Simulator.
It lets you plug in your current weight and your goal weight. It works best if you use the advanced settings to customize things like height, and you can even make the virtual girl look more like you. You have to change the height to really get a simulation close to your real body size.
What I found fascinating was playing around with the goal weight, so I could see how much or how little difference 5 pounds would make. For instance, I didn't see very much difference between my model at 170 to 160, but when I lowered 160 to 155, it was a huge difference.

aworkinprogress reacted to want2bthin in Has Anyone Not Experienced A Stall In The First 6 Weeks?
I am five months out and I have never had a stall. For a long time I was losing half pound a day like you. Now it's slowed a little bit to on average .4 pounds a day which I'm still very happy with that.
I usually only weigh myself once or twice a week and to those who have stalled if you're weighing yourself daily I would strongly discourage that. I also think that other reasons I haven't had a stall yet is because I eat very low calories – on average 500 a day even though my surgeon would prefer that I eat 800 cal. Also his postop diet is pretty strict compared to most. I cannot have any carbs other than fruits and vegetables until I am six months out and even then it will only be one serving a day. The only Carb I can honestly say I miss is pistachio nuts. One month more to go before I can have them :-)

I took Centrum chewables until about 7 months out and then I switched to Centrum pills. I'm pretty sensitive to Iron and will vomit because of that, so I always have something small right before I take my Vitamins. Usually it's a mini babybel cheese for me. That seems to be just enough to keep me from getting sick while still leaving enough room in my sleeve for my morning meds.

aworkinprogress reacted to BenisaMartim4 in 14Pk Of Syntrax Nectar Samples For $14 (Free Shipping)
I have heard a lot of folks talking about the nectar, so I thought I would try it. I googled it up and this is the special that I found. It is currently on a 1-2 week back order, but usually ships in 2-3 days. I went ahead and ordered it because it is a larger variety, for a much cheaper price and free shipping. I have not found this deal anywhere else. Here is the info if you would like to try it also:
The number is 1-866-333-7403 ext 803. Just ask for the Nectar sample kit. You get 14 variety packets (one of every flavor) for $14.00 (no shipping!) It is worth a try at that price; especially if you are like me and hate the shakes and are not being able to catch on to eating again either. Good luck! Oh, BTW, she also told me that you can find them on Facebook. That is where they advertise their sales and specials: Syntrax official.

They CAN be, everyone's different. Normally they should be fairly solid no matter WHAT your diet, the large bowel does a good job of adsorbing excess liquid to make semi-solid excrement. Sometimes it takes too much liquid out - Constipation, sometimes it leaves too much in - diarrhea.

aworkinprogress reacted to want2bthin in Post Surgery Pain Comparison Question
I had my gallbladder removed years ago and I always told people it was the easiest surgery I ever had - I was up and walking by 10 pm that night. I would have to say that my VSG was comparable. I was up and walking within hours. I know many people complain of shoulder pain afterwards (and I had that with my Lapband surgery also) but I did not have it with the VSG surgery. I had pain meds prescribed prior to surgery and took it only a few times afterwards. The two days I was in the hospital though they administered it pretty regularly and I did not balk at that. They also gave me shots in my stomach to avoid blood clots. I was taken very good care of at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, FL through the US Bariatrics program. They really are experts and I think that definitely contributed to my overall positive experience after surgery and beyond.
I've had numerous other surgeries - cesarean section (comparably the worst of all), Lapband, tonsillectomy, gallbladder, both elbows, etc. My VSG experience was better than my Lapband one also.
    Hope this helps.
