  1. Is the Facebook group private? Because not everyone on my current Facebook knows that I had the surgery, was just wondering before I look it up.
  2. I've eaten the motts for tots fruit snacks, they are softer than most. Didn't have any problems after, could only eat about half the bag. But I love them!!
  3. Balls* not calls. But either way I tried blowing into mine too, and actually told the nurse mine was broken. lol
  4. Well suck don't blow. Or the calls won't move.... But yes its normal, just keep trying. It hurts when you suck in hard but that's the point. To.make sure fluid doesn't build up in your lungs. Good luck!
  5. Wow pembroke pines, that's really close!! I bought some of the sugar free syrups at marshalls, but it was vanilla caramel etc. I wanted plain strawberry. But now I am 6 Weeks post op tomorrow so just using regular strawberries! This is the first week I have actually felt back to myself!!! Sooooo glad since I was starting to have major regrets!
  6. I was having that same pain, went to the E.R and my gall bladder was completely obstructed and had to be removed. The gall bladder being obstructed can cause pancreatitis and that is what was actually causing the pain on the left. I was told it happens when you lose weight quickly. I had to stay in the hospital until my gall bladder surgery. Good luck!
  7. I just posted a similar post today about the sharp pain on the left side, turned out that it was my obstructed gall bladder on my right side but I was only feeling the pain on the left. Had my gall bladder removed 5 days ago and the pain on the left is gone.
  8. Hi everyone, Some of you may recognize my name on here. I was sleeved on June 7th out of the hospital a few days later and was off pain meds right away. I thought it was successful except for the pain after I ate. No matter what went in a for a very sharp pain right below my left rib cage, it was awful and no matter what position I laid in the pain wouldn't subside. Until I would puke up whitish/clear flem. very few times did food actually come back up, it was really bizarre. Since I was afraid to eat I was taking in about 250 calories a day on a HIGH day, therefore I was getting very dizzy upon standing and even blacked out once. Finally exactly three Weeks to the day past surgery I was in so much pain that I went to the E.R. After a cat scan and ultra sound I was told nothing on my left looked out of the ordinary but my gall bladder was full of "sludge", they did three nuclear medicine scans and then determined that my gall bladder was completely obstructed (nothing going in or out) and I had a major case of pancreatitis because of it. I was admitted to the hospital and two days later, Saturday June 30th I was sedated AGAIN to have my gall bladder removed. Now the pain on my left is gone but I am in a lot of post surgical pain on the right, i'm sure being opened up twice in three Weeks before I was completely healed didn't help matters. When will I feel normal? The doctor told me the gall bladder gets obstructed from losing weight so quickly, but isn't that the point of the surgery. Why don't they just automatically take the gall bladder during the vsg surgery if this is so common. Any thoughts? Words of encouragement? I'm not eating again because everything makes me vomit.... And in so much pain I can barely stand up straight.... Completely miserable!! Anyone else have the surgeries so close together?
  9. I'm hooked on the Gerber graduate yogurt melts. Or Walmart has their parents choice brand. its freeze dried yogurt so it melts in your mouth. 1/4 cup is only 30 calories. Any grocery store will have them next to the baby food.
  10. I got your request. Glad you found me. I'm supposed to start mushies next Thursday. I've already eaten pureed soup. Tonight I bought the Gerber graduate yogurt chips and they were perfect!! I also bought the graduate cheese puffs for some crunch since they dissolve. Both things you probably already have around with a one year old lol
  11. Yeah we definitely should do a play date once we are both recovered! Maybe at t.y park, my daughter loves the playground there. It is good to have someone so close by!!... I went through fertility treatments too about a year ago trying to have another baby through artificial insemination. I wish I would have had someone else going through that with me!! I ended up miscarrying in November which was my last straw and decided I needed to get my body right first and then I started my 6 month diet. Email me or look me up on Facebook Differdaze@AOL.com
  12. Haha. I wish I wouldn't have weighed but I couldn't resist. I'm going to weigh again Thursday since that'll be a Week and then I am going to have my partner/wife hide the scale until next Thursday so I am limited to once a week lol. Glad you have a little helper around!!
  13. Today things are going good..I stopped taking my pain mess... Still a little uncomfortable but tired of being groggy. Its hard when I have a very active 4 year old. However today, without the meds I have felt more discomfort while eating, I guess my tummy was numb before, so I guess that's a good thing. also when I stand up I am getting dizzy, I can only assume its the low blood sugar so I watered down a 1/4 cup of apple juice with a cup of water and that helped. I am happy about the process, down 18 pounds since my pre-op diet (12 days)!!! Only 115 more to go lol! How are you doing?
  14. It is is a really strange timing coincidence. Also that we are so close by, i'm pretty sure your name was on the list of patients in the same wing of the hospital I was in, when I was walking the halls. Lol I was in room 521, my fave nurse was Fatima =) although the lady that worked at night doubled my pain med dose so maybe she should be my favorite! Wow a fall bladder too, that's a lot, now I will stop complaining about my hernia repair lol. Glad you are getting around good, I am going to try pureed chicken noodle soup when I get home from class tonight, so we'll see how that goes!!
  15. Slim12, i'm wondering if you have your preferences set to get notified anytime someone comments on the thread. I got your first post that you were confused about my message, and now I just got this message. Both of my posts were directed at JenZ, I understand the confusion to.my questions since you are still pre-op. Either way congrats on your date, good luck and keep us posted!
  16. Well glad you are okay. I am able to keep liquids down, I haven't really eaten much of anything since I have no hunger or cravings at all. In my 4 days post op I have eaten a couple sugar free popsicles, some sugar free jello, I drank broth while at the hospital but not since i've been home. Last night I made a protein smoothie but it was thick so I ate it like ice cream, maybe three bites. Today I pureed a banana and ate that, literally that is all I have eaten. I am forcing myself to drink water because no matter how little I eat, about 15 minutes later I am in the restroom =O my shoulder pain is completely gone, but I still have a very sharp pain on my left side right below my ribs, the doctor said its where they detach the stomach from the abdominal wall. Also because of the hernia repair it feels like extra pressure pushing on my diaphragm. I am able to lay on my stomach now though and it feels really good!! Have you found anything that is agreeing with your new tummy and doing okay with liquids?
  17. How are you feeling? Recovering? Are you home from the hospital yet? Just wanted to check in since I haven't heard anything back since your drop off time.
  18. I'm only 4 days post IP but the first time I took a big gulp it hurt!! so now I am afraid, if I accidentally gulp too much then I try to hold it in my mouth and swallow a little bit down at a time. Even my pain meds I am only taking 1-2 mls at a time and my dosage is for 15 so it takes a little time. because of the tiny sips I am not getting much water in at all, I wasn't worried while at the hospital because I had a constant i.v drip, but now at home I definitely need to kick it up a notch.
  19. Just to add, I personally love apple juice, and I saw where someone else had mentioned a brand sweetened, with Splenda, it sounded expensive. However, Walmart has their store brand of apple juice, next to all the other juices and it is already a little watered down but sweetened with Splenda. It was $2.86 for a gallon and really delicious!!
  20. I packed a toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant and chapstick... Well those are the things I actually used. Other things in my bag that did not get used were socks (the hospital gives you ones with traction) , a robe (its much easier to just keep your hospital gown on, and if you feel exposed they will give you a second one to put on backwards), a heating pad which is apparently a big no no after surgery, mints which I thought would cure my dry mouth after surgery but you aren't allowed anything in your mouth besides toothpaste which is why it is important to bring one that you like because the hospitals sucks, I brought ear plugs and an eye mask that I never used since I had my own room, I also brought gas x strips that I never used because they dont do anything for the anesthesia gas, and the tummy gas went away with the anti nausea medicine they were giving me. they supplied me with plenty of blankets and pillows. So I packed a very small bag and I was definitely over prepared lol the only thing I would have brought other than the things I actually used would be crystal light packets since they only gave me lemonade flavored packets and it was too acidic for my tummy so I just drank plain Water. Hope this helps =)
  21. Yay!! I got the clearance from the doctor saying I can go home. I had to stay an extra day since I had a pretty significant size hiatal hernia that had to be repaired during surgery. Which is causing a lot of extra pain and pressure. The doctor came in a pulled out the drainage tube and that was that strangest feeling, I guess I was expecting to barely feel it and it was not very pleasant. I am still walking and getting around good, I can't wait to shower and lay in my own bed!! Although I have been pretty miserable the past two days I am so glad I went through with this surgery, and can't wait to start seeing results!!
  22. I was sleeved on 6/7... I do have a drain tune that drains into a little bulb. I have it in the pocket of my hospital gown and forget all about it. My first sip of water/broth didn't hurt. The contrast for the upper g.i was awful especially since it was the.first thing in my stomach after 38 hours. Luckily it only takes a few sips to complete the test. The worst worst worst feeling for me is the nausea, if I swallow too much air it gets in my tiny stomach and I feel like its gonna explode!!
  23. Turkey meatballs are good. You can buy them already made put then in a crock pot. next to the salad dressing in the grocery store with the ethnic sauces there is a sweet chili sauce made my iron chef with a yellow And rest label its delicious end then sweeten it up with sugar free grape smuckers jelly
  24. It definitely depends what stage you are at. I would google hungry girl appetizers since her recipes are easy and low calories. A few ideas would be pigs in a blanket, you can cut one Pillsbury crescent into three to cut down on the carbs and they have the mini weenies in turkey dogs. Definitely a yummy treat. Another thing that is easy and delicious is buffalo chicken dip http://www.franksredhot.com/recipes/franks-redhot-buffalo-chicken-dip-RE1242 or you can google Hungry girl buffalo chicken dip and find a healthier version.
