Krysty got a reaction from Thegoddesszili in What Are You Eating At A Month Post Op?
I moved to the soft diet stage (4 weeks post op through 6 weeks from date of surgery) and I'm still there. I'm eating scrambled eggs, oatmeal, cream of wheat, tuna salad, egg salad, baked fish, the inside of a baked potato, well cooked rice or Pasta, thin shaved deli meat, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, well cooked vegetables, and soft casseroles like tuna noodle casserole, enchiladas, and lasagna. I'm allowed soft fresh fruit (no peels, large seeds or membranes like an orange) but tend to mostly eat bananas. For dairy I stick to 2% milk, low fat yogurt, and cottage cheese.< /p>
Portion size is hovering around 1/3 cup total per meal. If I try to eat more than that at one sitting, I'll feel pain. My calorie count averages around 350/day.
I make the big switch to a regular texture diet next Thursday, June 21.

Yes, you will be able to eat normal food again, just not as much as you were used to before being sleeved. The first few weeks after being sleeved are the hardest, in my humble opinion. If you're like me, you're feeling very deprived and very hopeless. Everything tasted funky to me those first few weeks too. And I couldn't stand the smell of a Protein shake, much less the taste...lol.
It will get better. I started feeling so much better after I was able to make the switch to soft food. My nutritionist told me not to worry about getting enough Protein in the first few weeks. With all the changes your body is going through, what you're experiencing seems to be par for the course. Just hang in there, and try to distract yourself as best you can.

I went through that same thought process early on. I only lose for about 2 wks out of each month for some reason. I started to feel like this was just the same old thing. But I don't anymore. What I now do when I'm stalled is look back at all of my daily totals on MyFitnessPal. I record everything in there, even down to 1 olive. When I'm stalled, I ask myself what I could have done better. If there's an answer, I do it. If I've done everything right (no junk, had Protein, drank Water, exercised, etc), then I just calmly say, "This is just part of the process!" I'm going to be accountable, but if I'm doing my best or close to it, I'm not going to let these stalls get me down. Congrats on the smaller sizes! You must be looking great!

I have had really good losses, good success with the sleeve. I went on a 4 day camping trip over fathers day weekend, was very active and didn't overeat and still had good losses. Since then, I have basically been stalled. No big deal really, stalls are normal, right!?! Truth is that I have not been prone to stalls, I tend to lose at least some every week, so it isn't part of "my normal".
Anyway, I started noticing thoughts creeping into my head - like I must surely be regaining and will my smaller clothes still fit kind of thing. I have been amazed at how quickly those negative thoughts have invaded my mind -- the fear of repeating the yoyo loss/regain pattern from my past.
The good news is that I went shopping for jeans yesterday and I am down another size. Not only have I kissed the plus section goodbye, I am now fitting into 16s quite readily. 14s can't be that far away! That actually helped me reset my mind a bit and not over-react to going through a stall.
I must say though, there must be quite the size inflation going on. Last time i was at this weight, around 10 years ago, I was wearing 18W-20W jeans.

I was not warned either, 2nd day post op in strolls this Demon disguised as a dr. Informs me she is gonna remove it. Let's just say her bedside manner is lacking, I was very anxious, she not so reassuring(something like "buck up dude".She wrapped part around her hand put the other on my belly and yanked it very firmly and deliberately (like she hated me),well it came out probably eaiser than she thought it would, the guts end snapped back and hit her in the face ;Really . Buck up doc just a little blood and guts,And btw if you need a nurse to help clean that just push this button and wait about an hour ,sooner or later someone with an attitude as crappy as yours will be glad to help!

My only regret is not getting it done sooner. I also regret worrying so much about what other people would think of me for getting it done. I know myself better than anyone else, and I know this is the best thing for me.
It's perfectly natural to worry before any surgery. Just try to stay focused on the positive, and keep picturing yourself being a more active and healthy parent to those two little girls!

Krysty reacted to Writergirl in I'm No Longer An Emotional Eater
It just hit me today that I am no longer an emotional eater. Today, I learned that my sister and best friend in the world is going onto the heart transplant list--IF they consider her to be a good candidate for surviving it. She is beautiful--the picture of health and fitness--but chemo in her 20's destroyed her heart valves and she's been struggling with congestive heart failure. However, I realied this evening that for the first time in my life, I didn't even consider eating to ease my pain and worry.
    Amazing. What is different??
I got to my highest weight by eating every time I had an emotion, be it anger, sadness, or even excitement and happiness. I've worked on awareness of this for a few years now. When I would get upset about something, I would automatically walk to the pantry or fridge. But instead of just grabbing something, I would say, "If you eat this, you'll have two problems instead of one," and then I would force myself to just feel my feeling and walk away from the food. Last weekend my husband made me so mad, I got out my boxing exercise DVD at 1 a.m. and pictured his face every time I threw a punch! But tonight, I made the connection that even as mad as I was I didn't turn to food to feel better.
I'm really thrilled about this. If I can stop eating for emotional reasons, I truly believe anyone can. It will take practice and a willingness to actually FEEL things rather than just drug yourself with food, but it can be done.
Thanks for letting me share. Please pray for my sister. She's an amazing woman.

I've always hated weighing at the doctor, because for one thing, I was always higher than the last visit. And...my home scale was always 5 lbs lighter than any other scale on the planet (but I still insisted it was correct and THEY were wrong). Noooowwwww however, one surgery, and one new scale later....I have them shuffling through their paperwork muttering.... "wait a minute...that can't be right.....this says.....wait....you couldn't have lost... WHAT???" HAHAHAHA I love it!!!! Most doctors only see sick people. I've gotten to see the cardiologist and family doc get all happy because I'm getting HEALTHIER! Pretty good feeling folks. Wouldn't you agree??

    Some recent NSVs:
-Some pants I bought two months ago are too big for me now even though I haven't gone down that much on the scale
-The other day I saw a picture of myself and instead of noticing all the imperfections, I thought I looked hot (and tiny)
-Shot up a hill today that would have been a challenge 6 months ago
-My resting heart rate is the same as for a lifetime athlete

I've started using a timer to keep track of when to drink and eat....lol. Now I just need to motivate myself to get out of the house and into the sunshine! I've GOT to get more active!
