  1. We all know that this is a big no-no. It was really hard for me because my mouth would get all pasty and gross without drinking but no more. i found out that if i take a sip after my meal and sometimes during and simply swish it around and spit it out, it helped!!! I never drink with my meals anymore and don't miss it.
  2. Love it. I've been banded for 4 years have lost 3/4's of the weight but have NEVER given up.Took longgg breaks but never gave up. I am over the last break and have decided to add exercise now.Somehow if you don't give up, it usually comes together in it's own time. I love Megan's warning...so true!
  3. you can scoop out the middle and stuff them like you would green peppers(z goes down better)with onion, rice, tomatoes and the insides of the z.broil them, top with parm and voila yumilicious! No Dice and the corn for me either!
  4. try making out a gaol list and work on one thing at a time.Start with the most simple and work your way down your list. You will feel proud of yourself for ever goal you achieve and this will motivate you to keep going. You should let the past be the past. When you start recalling all those feelings rell yourself back to the rpesnt with a motto.I used to tell myself as above"let the past be past" Someone on here,i think Donali, once wrote that if you constantly let yourself feel bad feelings for your spouce you;ll start believing it but if you reverse those thoughts to loving ones you'll believe those eventually as well. This works well for anything.Like"i am a good person"as opposed to thinking badly of yourself"i am a failure" These are just ideas, hope you can use some of it! I also love this for meditation: Please grant me the courage to change the things i can The stength to accept the things i can't and the wisdom to know the difference. For your cousin. You tried to help her and she doesn;t want help right now.You have done your best by her and doesn;t seem like you need to feel bad.I wouldn;t lend her anymore$$.It's hard lending $ to family.I avoid it at al cost:) Good luck!
  5. I love my band and it has helped me in more than just losing weight! I have learned how to eat right, when to stop when i am full and even though the hardest part was getting my head with the program i have lost all the weight i can with the band and i have finally accepted this.I have lost more than half the weight i wanted by eating right most of the time and not feeling like a pig when i eat crap because i know that if i eat poutine one time i won;t get back to where i was and i just move on... The rest of this weight will require a 100% dedication to excerise.I have a low metabolisim(sp) and NO energy.I know that exercise will help with both of these problems. I got my tongue pierced and quit something as of this morning. The piercing is a reminder of my commitment to myself and my new goals.Quit smoking and exercise 3 times a week. Yea for me!!! NSV for this week end.. I realized i fit in Wal marts regular clothes and NOT even the largest in 18 but regular 16 OH MY GOD!!!! It still hard for me to see myself like this i still feel the same but i got more than my share of looks with my new "lock and load"suit, cami and high heels.I tended to stay in my fat clothes as there is a certain comfort level there but watch out for me because with excersize and more energy i am looking forward to the rest of this weight going bye bye! For those who don;t know me, I am Chantal, from Ottawa Canada.I have had the band for 3 years(yes i am not in a hurry to lose)I am 5'2 and started at 235.I weight 175 now, soon to be 135.( i want to reach 125 but i will be having a TT and lipo before the final 10!) Thanks for reading my happy happy story.
  6. I had my surgery in Quebec city with Dr.Pierre Leclerc. Here is the number for admissions-I am not sure if there is another number but i am sure you could ask.It might help to have someone who knows how to speak french... 514-890-8144. This is for the Hospital Hotel-Dieu. Good Luck!
  7. i am praying for Emily's recovery! God Bless!
  8. I am having the exact situation. My son is 7. I will do EVERYTHING in my power to not go the med route.I want to research concentration techniques as well as social techniques.Impulsivity is one major indicator in ADD.He just cannot remember to take a moment if a kid pushes him,he won't stop to use words but will push him right back. He is VERY smart. He likes to read, math, science.BUT has problems staying quiet in class.Waiting his turn to answer. If there is alot of group activity or change in routine it throws him off.He has trouble with his tone of voice(respect) when he talk to people, especially if he becomes frustrated. My doctor explained that meds are a last resort. They tend to try and teach the techniques to concentrate and control emotions first. If however they are needed they are suppose to enhance they skills he learns. I found that the research from the net was pretty much the same and medical intervention such a phyc or social worker is needed. My son sees a child social worker every thursday at school. We use a duotang to track his days.Motivate him by using special activities as rewards. It is said that extra activities that require no concentration but high level of activities are helpful(hip hop class, gymnastics, soccer.)But not sport with alot of waiting times in between play. The whole situation is very stressful for me as i want my son to be the best he can.He just really cannot on his own.His behavior was first noticed in kindergarden and has gotten progressivly worse over the last 2 grades. It is hard to dicipline because of course if he does have ADD he cannot take ALL the blame as opposed to someone without ADD?(does that make sense?) Please e mail me if you would like to keep in touch. Chantal

  16. i don't go through all the posts so i am not sure if anyone mentioned this before... For the Am restriction, It has been said and it is true for me that if i have a 'huge' lunch i will still be restricted at supper and will eat a smaller meal and then will NOT be able to eat at night(even though sometimes i REALLY! want to. The trick is to not eat at night so that in the next few weeks you are not so swollen in the morning when you first get up.I have 1 coffee and then water from 6am to 9am.Then eat a normal breakfast, big lunch, snack at 2-3 (apple w cheese ect) and a small portion of dinner.I do not eat after dinner but drink a ton of water. It's something that has really worked for me. Good Luck!

  19. i had a c section x2 and i must say the pain is NOTHING compared to that!! ALOT less pain.I took a 8 hrs bus trip back home 2 days after the op! I waiting until my scars were nice a healed before being with hubby. i didn't gain weight while going from stage to stage but some do.Once you get into the swing of things those pounds do come off. The hardest part of all was adjusting my brain to the fact that there will sometimes be food left on the plate,i can't eat it all even if i wanted to and some foods i like i can't eat.(spagetti or any noodle meat combo...) If you follow the rules and exercise it DOES work. The weight i lost which you see on the ticker,i lost from changing the way i eat.The rest will come off once i decide to move my body and exercise. The choice is mine!!! Good luck and you will find that it's easy to ask questions here!
